New Delhi, July 12, 2025 (ANI): As Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) releases its preliminary report on the Air India plane crash, Founder & CEO of Martin Consulting, Aviation Safety and Consulting Firm, Mark D Martin said, "It is the initial report, and it is quite cryptic in many ways. It says a lot of points that don't add up. If there was an engine failure, that is only when the RAT deploys. When the RAT deploys, there is only one course to restart the engine. It has been reported in the past that the fuel cut-off switches have been tripped and gone back to the cut-off position several times... The sad part is most MROs and maintenance companies in the world don't take AAIBs seriously... It could have been one of the reasons for this incident. We are still in the initial stage of investigation and still have 90 days for the full investigation report to come out."

00:00I think the most important thing we need to understand that it's an initial report.
00:03And the initial report is quite cryptic in many ways.
00:07It says a lot of points and a lot of bits in the report which doesn't add up.
00:13If there was an engine failure, that is only when the RAT deploys.
00:17And when the RAT deploys, the only normal course is to restart the engines.
00:23Now, it has been reported in the past that those switches, the fuel cutoff switch or the fuel switch to run and cut off,
00:33those have tripped and gone back to cutoff positions several times in the past.
00:37We've seen it with quite a few incidents.
00:40There's also an AIB, Airworthiness Information Circular, which has been announced.
00:46Now, the sad part is most MROs and maintenance companies in the world, including most airlines, don't take seriousness to AIBs.
00:53They don't take seriousness to an AD or an SB.
00:57So it's very, very likely that it could have been one of the reasons to this.
01:05Now, again, we have to understand that we are still at the initial stage of this incident.
01:10It's going to take a long time.
01:12We have 90 more days for the full investigation report to come out.
