The sound design for "F1" was unlike anything Joseph Kosinski had ever done. Here's how Lewis Hamilton made sure it was accurate.

00:00What did you learn about sound design in this process?
00:02It was this, from a sound design point of view, a massive challenge.
00:09Skywalker Sound, you know, this is my sixth movie with them.
00:14We had them out at the track recording all these cars.
00:19We were able to put microphones on board the real cars,
00:21which was pretty amazing because they're, you know, very well-protected machines.
00:26You know, there's four different engines, I think, in Formula One,
00:29so getting the distinctive character, making sure that Sonny's car sounds different than J.P.'s,
00:33and then, you know, making it knowing that Lewis Hamilton's going to be watching and analyzing it,
00:39making sure we're in the right gear at the right corner for every single track.
00:43So, yeah, the mix for this movie was the longest I've ever done.
