Here is Dawn visiting Brandywine SPCA for July Pet of the Month
Transcript
00:00Hey, what are you waiting for? We're here at the Brandywine Valley SPCA. It's Piazza,
00:06pet of the month. Come on. Hey, Sarah. Welcome. So where are we headed now?
00:14So this is our Whisker Way. Whisker Way? And this is our kitten room.
00:19Aww. This is Marsalis. So cute, right? Yeah. And this is one of our, um, you know,
00:26community open cat rooms that we have. We have three of them and they can house a bunch of cats
00:33and they can all live together. We get an idea of how they do with other cats. This room happens to
00:38have all of our kittens at this time, including sweet Marsalis. But this is so great for them to
00:44interact with each other and get some, you know, enrichment and socialization. And also we have
00:49volunteers and our critter campers come in here and play with them. And they really get an idea of like
00:55how it's okay to be around people and how people are good and are, are, are fun. So Dawn, this is our
01:03kitty cove, our third big room. And this has a lot of adult cats in it, including our sweet Belle right
01:10here. Aww. And, um, Bordo and a bunch of other ones. And what's Belle's story? You know, Belle is about
01:19five years old and, uh, you know, we helped the local community. In her case, she needed a new place to live
01:25because her owner couldn't take care of her anymore. Um, so we're here to be a bridge for
01:29her next life and her next forever. And, uh, we know that the right family is out there to,
01:34to give her a second chance. So we're poolside now. This is a great play area, Sarah. I know,
01:39even on a super hot day like this, it's so great to let the animals come out, get a little bit of time
01:44in the shade, running around, playing. You know, we try to get them out every single day like this. It
01:49really helps them, you know, relax and play and be dogs. I mean, that's what this is about. It's
01:54about letting them be dogs. This is Connie. This is Connie. She's about three years old and she's a
02:00healer mix, which is like a hound, but she's super sweet and loves people and other dogs. She's been
02:06great with, um, any sort of age person. She's been out at an event. She did really well at Mega. So we know
02:13that her right family's out there and we're here to make sure that happens. She's a really good example of
02:19how you can find anything at a shelter. You know, I think that people think that all the dogs look
02:23the same at the shelter, but you can come in and find a French bulldog or a hound or a beagle or
02:31or a chihuahua or you can find a big lab or a golden retriever. You just never know what you're going to
02:37find. So this is Charles. What a sweetheart. Hey, Charles. I love a dog with a human name, right?
02:44Yeah. Charles is a senior. He's about eight years old and he's been here way too long. People keep
02:50overlooking him, but oh my gosh, he's so sweet and you really want to come and meet him. You know,
02:56he's great with any people. He's done well with dogs. He, we think he's just getting overlooked
03:02because he's eight, you know, he's a senior, but seniors shouldn't spend their time in a shelter. They
03:06need to go home. Yeah. In fact, we have an amazing, um, program called, um, sponsored by Simba.
03:13And for any senior adopter, 65 plus, they can adopt any pet that's a senior, eight years old
03:19and plus, and the adoption fee is coming. An amazing, um, benefactor of our organization put forth,
03:26you know, money to, to take care of those adoption fees. And so a senior like Charles could go home
03:31with a senior adopter today and it wouldn't cost him any. Sarah, we had so much fun at our first
03:38Piazza Pets mega events right by the Piazza Mercedes Benz there in Westchester. Thank you so
03:45much. Of course. Of course. Yeah. I felt after that event, seriously, withholding all the dogs.
03:51It was like a therapy session. Yep. And they're all home. They all went home. All the sapphires left,
03:57but he's one of our longest residents in Westchester. We know that his right family is out there. It's
04:01just going to take him a little bit of time. So if you want to get involved in any way, donate,
04:06adopt, foster, all you have to do, go to the WPHT page. You want to click on the Piazza pet page
04:14and then make sure that we also thank our friends from Piazza Otter Group because they make it all happen.
