First look at Sunderland's new Sana Soul Food cafe, coffee shop, matcha house and social space
Transcript
00:00So Hannah, we're down here at Santa Soul Food which is a new addition to
00:03Sunderland. What can we expect from it? So a beef and shake meets health-conscious
00:07food. So all of our dishes are really focused on gut-friendly food, so they've
00:12all got a gut-friendly element in it. Really focused on your gut microbiome
00:16and things like that. And you're opening today but you've had a teaser for
00:19friends and family. What's the reaction been like? Oh amazing. I guess today was
00:23just like a room full of love and everyone was so happy with the food.
00:26Dishes were beautiful that went out and yeah, it was just a really nice vibe.
00:30And people will likely know you from Flamingo and see them where you were for a
00:34number of years. Is it nice to be opening your own cafe in your own home city?
00:37Absolutely. I live like two streets away and know so many people in the area so
00:41there's already loads of friendly faces being in who might not have got to see
00:44them quite as often. So I'm really looking forward to integrating with my
00:47community. And Sunderland food scene is really improving isn't it? It must be
00:52great to be a part of that. Obviously you've long been involved in hospitality.
00:55Yeah, it's amazing. I mean there's so many amazing places open. The Sheep Falls,
00:59the restaurant's in there. You've got wildfire down the road north on the seafront.
01:03Cafe Floriana in the city centre which is amazing. Like it's really nice to be kind
01:07of part of that. And everyone's so friendly. I think other business owners in Sunderland
01:11just don't see everyone as like a competition. They see it as like your community as
01:17itself as business owners.
