A white sack containing what appeared to be burned human bones has been recovered by authorities in the vicinity of Taal Lake in Batangas, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said on Thursday evening, July 10.

00:00A white sack containing what appeared to be burned human bones has been recovered by authorities in the vicinity of Taal Lake in Batangas, the Department of Justice reported on Thursday evening, July 10.
00:15The DOJ led the authorities in conducting search operations in Taal Lake on Thursday based on information that the bodies of a number of missing sabongeros were dumped into the lake.
00:26The white sack was retrieved during the operations by a team from the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in coordination with the Philippine Coast Guard.
00:38The department said that the recovery represents a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation on the case of the missing sabongeros.
00:46It's said the investigators will proceed with caution and diligence as it expressed hopes that the probe will be closer to uncovering the truth and securing justice for the families of the missing sabongeros.
00:58According to the DOJ, the contents of the sack will be subjected to forensic examinations to determine whether they are human bones and a DNA test will also be conducted to determine if there is a genetic match with any of the families of the missing individuals.
