Katie Taylor Opens Up On 'Monumental' All-Women's Card On Netflix

The last time Katie Taylor shared the ring with Amanda Serrano, the fight was so awesome that it somehow overshadowed Mike Tyson and Jake Paul ... and now the star pugilists will once again come face-to-face to settle the score!!

00:00it's amazing i think the fights are just getting bigger and bigger and bigger to be honest and

00:05i think if you asked me as a 10 years ago what i think i'd be a headline in a huge show at

00:11massive square garden again i would have been pinched to myself so this is this is huge and

00:17and like i said the fights are just getting bigger and bigger this is a huge moment not just for

00:22myself but i think just for women's sport in general to be headlining a monumental women's

00:28courage and um yeah i i wake up so grateful for these opportunities that i definitely don't take

00:34it for granted that's that's awesome i mean uh how much like i i guess personal satisfaction do you

00:42get katie as obviously being one of the you know you win others obviously but having been i think

00:47critical in in the sport getting to this place i mean i think all you've got to do is just look at

00:53at your fight your second fight with amanda and how exciting that was i mean you got mike tyson and

00:59jake paul fighting and it seemed like it was everybody was talking about you and amanda

01:03how much personal satisfaction do you take in having brought the sport to this point

01:07yeah i mean it's amazing to think that i had some impact on the sport for sure and uh

01:13myself and amanda really um over these last few years of the fights that we've had

01:17the both being uh fight of your contenders that both had the world talking and um it's amazing to

01:24to be in this situation where people are are talking about about these fights and um i uh i remember

01:33looking at an article um after the first fight and uh somebody was calling it to fight a decade and i'm

01:39thinking wow like even even like uh seeing clips and headlines like that it's uh just remarkable that

01:45uh where women's boxing has come over the last few years but i also look back at past fires as well

01:51the likes of layla and christy martin and wolf and those did you go be those kind of girls that

01:58that were huge pioneers in the sport and i'm so grateful for what they've done for the sport and

02:03getting us to this position as well and so uh it's it's because of those girls as well that that's

02:09why we're in this position and i'm super grateful for the women that went before me yeah yeah it's cool

02:14they took it to a level and now you've elevated even further very cool how do you top last fight i

02:19mean gosh i don't know what you could ever do to top that but how how do you even begin to start to

02:24try and top that yeah i think just with our both our styles it's always going to be such an exciting

02:30fight yeah she comes i come to fight and we both want to win we both have good mindsets and so um i

02:37think just just with the mindsets alone and just our matches inside it's always going to be

02:42um such an exciting fight for the fans and um yeah i mean this like i said i didn't think it was

02:49going to get any bigger for the last fight but here we are again yeah just topping a huge show again

02:55on netflix um an all-female card uh this is going to be a huge moment again and yeah amazing i'm so

03:03excited for it yeah i think the fans are so excited to watch uh katie do you listen obviously amanda's you

03:09know she has said oh the headbutts and they've talked a lot about that after the fight um you

03:14know in the time since the second fight do you pay attention to any of that do you change anything does

03:20that enter your kind of your consciousness in any way or is it just hey business as usual and i'm

03:25going to go out there and i'm going to win this fight yeah i don't really take any notice what

03:28anybody's saying about the fights really um i know what happened in the fights and uh um i definitely um

03:35um just even with all the headbutts that's just you know sometimes that happens very where your

03:40clash heads uh completely accidental i don't i don't even think that their team really believes

03:44that was a it was anything but accidental but that happens especially when a southpaw fights a

03:49righty and sometimes that can happen and her class her head clashed with my head as well it

03:55wasn't nice for me either so um uh it also hurt my head um but uh yeah i don't really take much

04:03notice of uh my hand was raised at the end of that fight even with the the ridiculous point

04:07deduction in the middle of that fight as well which was completely uh outrageous really and um

04:15but i just uh go away thanking god that i came away as a victor and and that i had the chance to

04:22to do this again on july 11th now i know this doesn't matter at all but are you surprised did you

04:29know i i looked at the odds and it's it's close but that they've got you as a slight underdog

04:35after obviously having beat amanda in the previous two fights do you care about anything does that

04:40matter to you at all have you even seen that is that right wrong what do you take what do you make

04:45of that uh katie i think uh you have me as the underdog of both the fights actually so wow there you go

04:52i mean that that that stuff is is irrelevant all i care about is how i feel about the fight what's

04:58going on inside my head and people can have their own opinions about about it but um i feel good i

05:05feel strong i'm stepping to bring as confident as ever and i really couldn't care less what the odds

05:09have to say like i said in both fights they have me as underdog and i don't know what i have to do to

05:16for people to have me as a favorite so um but it doesn't matter to me now i hope this is not true but

05:23i i read a report i guess they said that you uh but you may announce retirement after i'm i'm sure

05:29you don't want to do that right here although if you want to the floor is yours uh is have you made

05:34up uh have you made the decision on what the future looks like for you katie i haven't actually

05:39i don't know where uh where they're getting that from good i'm not too sure what's going to happen

05:45after this fight i obviously just take one fight at a time at this stage

05:48um but i feel good i feel strong and i'm still as passionate about the sport as ever i still love

05:55my sport so wake up thanking god i get get to do this for a living and this is insane i'm actually

06:01getting paid for for this and um this is my dream job i've been boxing since i was 10 years of age and

06:07never in a million years did i think i'd be uh finding these kind of platforms and having these

06:12opportunities so um i i just absolutely love my job that's awesome two quick ones for you i know

06:19you got to run those million dollar seats are awesome uh have you seen those like the those

06:25ringside seats oh yeah right yeah i didn't see them actually but i can only imagine i've seen uh

06:31seen them for the last fight actually yeah i was just looking at the pictures before we talked i was

06:36like i gotta try and make some money and buy one one day who has that kind of money by the way
