00:25around the league gm saying hey he would be our cy young winner at this moment what do you make

00:31of the nl cy young race right now as we near that all-star break i have been talking about wheeler

00:37when he was plus money that it should have been much closer than it was when schemes was about you

00:42know minus 200 minus 150 and i've been i don't want to say you know rallying for zach wheeler but a lot

00:48of what he is doing is comparable and or better than schemes when we're looking at the innings

00:53they're the same but zach wheeler has 21 more strikeouts or 25 plus more strikeouts compared

00:57to skeins the exact same amount of innings pitched he has fewer walks compared to skeins you look at

01:02their f war their b war would everyone look at wheeler has closed the gap and or tied him now we

01:08don't want to obviously look at wins and losses we know that we've kind of established that when

01:12degrom won the cy youngs but there is something to be said that wheeler is going out there doing the

01:17exact same things and i don't want to say that there's uh like recency bias in some capacity when

01:23he finished you know in in the top last year but it's like hey he's doing the same thing he did

01:27last year he's doing it again this year you know we can kind of vote for him this year despite the

01:32height that paul schemes brings so i i will say you you missed the boat on zach wheeler like i was

01:37talking to craig mish a couple weeks ago about zach wheeler two to one no i'm not saying two ones a

01:40fantastic price but it is better than minus 140 the reigning al cy young winner is terek scoobel for the

01:48best team in baseball that being the detroit tigers minus 420 scoobel's price vecchio to win

01:53the cy young award in the american league has he already won it are they starting to etch his name

01:58on the trophy once again or could we find some value after the all-star break in this market

02:04i think it's all wrapped up and i've had i've had this thought for quite a while where i've been

02:09debating kevin walsh on this topic for a couple months at this point where you know scoobel is doing

02:14things this year that he did last year to a better extent and when you see pitchers breaking

02:20records or like oh it's the first pitcher since 1970 or 1960 to have x amount of strikeouts and

02:25such a low percentage of walks in you know 50 years 60 years whatever it might be part of the

02:30cy young is also a narrative driven award where if he's doing the same things he did last year and

02:35they have the potential to make him a repeat champion like that is going to garner attention and

02:40there's a human element to people voting on cy young and because the cy young is again narrative

02:45we're going to see de grom move up if he continues to pitch well de grom's odds will shorten just

02:49because there's a narrative there that he may not be as good as scoobel but he will garner some

02:53percentage of the votes but scoobel ultimately is the best pitcher in basically every category

02:58could possibly want to analytically or at the service level say who's the best pitcher in the league

03:04it's tariff scoobel and the tigers are the best team in major league baseball best record at this
