Patrick Reed admits he needs to win the Open Championship in order to be in contention for the Ryder Cup squad
Transcript
00:00With the Ryder Cup coming, what are the possibilities that you are going to be there?
00:05You know, I mean, it's a hard one to answer.
00:09Really, I think it all comes down to next week at the Open.
00:12Obviously, play well here, but I go ahead and I win the Open Championship.
00:16I believe I'd be inside the top six on points.
00:18So I think I'd kind of lock it in and allow me to be on the team.
00:22But really, you know, these next couple weeks, I just have to play some really solid golf.
00:26You know, go out and contend late on Sundays, have a chance to win golf tournaments.
00:30And if I do that, then, you know, hopefully Keegan picks me.
00:35But at the end of the day, because we only get the majors that have points for the Ryder Cup, it's an uphill battle.
00:41But, you know, good thing is I feel like I'm in a good spot right now as long as I go out and play well in the final major.
