00:00Icelandic startup CarbFix is revolutionizing carbon capture by becoming the world's first CO2 mineral storage operator.
00:08At their facility, CO2 is mixed with water and injected into basalt rock, accelerating the mineralization process.
00:16Since 2012, CarbFix has successfully mineralized over 90,000 tons of CO2 using proprietary technology.
00:24It's very clear that we have a huge task in front of us, and we are not approaching our goals at the speed we need to, to reduce temperature increase on our planet.
00:38One of the critical action items, among a number of others, of course, is to implement carbon capture and storage.
00:48And this is a new technology to do that.
00:50At COP28, the largest project CarbFix is involved in is the Coda Terminal, set to mineralize 3 million tons of CO2.
00:59The first commercial delivery phase to Iceland is planned for 2027, with a pilot project already underway using CO2 from Switzerland.
