00:00are humans part of nature anymore it would be easy to make an argument either for or against
00:08on the one hand humans are evolutionarily natural and we were once foragers and hunters just like
00:13every other creature however on the other hand we don't live like that anymore and humanity's
00:18architectural and engineering strides are unlike anything in the rest of the natural world still
00:23a new campaign by we are nature hopes to petition to put humans back in nature at least by definition
00:28so why is this important well previous definitions of nature have very much outlined it as something
00:34that was other than humans likening it to automatic processes almost machine-like environmental groups
00:39have found that not only has this definition ultimately led to a disconnect and an increase
00:44in things like animal cruelty it has also led to people caring less about nature this in turn likely
00:49accelerates the decline of the natural world as humans are less likely to make moves to protect it
00:53still others argue that we shouldn't change the definition as it should be in line with how people
00:58colloquially use it however this might point to a cultural shift that we as humans need to make
01:02in tandem as our impact on the natural world is more obvious and intertwined than ever
