Sarina Wiegman and Alessia Russo explain why their 4-0 win over the Dutch was a 'proper English performance'
Transcript
00:00I think proper English to us just means we'll work hard, we'll work until we can't run anymore.
00:07We stick together and we know we're very dominant on the ball as well.
00:11So I think kind of returning to that, that's our standard and our DNA as a team.
00:19And yeah, we definitely saw that today from the first minute right until the end.
00:23Everyone was working so hard.
00:24We were really dominant on first and second balls, picking up the balls in right areas and clinical with our chances that we had as well.
00:31And probably could have scored even more as well.
00:34Yeah, the players use that a lot now.
00:36I think we started using that when we played against Portugal and we tied and then we played Spain.
00:42And when we played Spain in that moment, it was like really like togetherness and the fight.
00:47And there are moments in the game that you have to do that.
00:50But at the same time, when you're in possession, you want to...
00:53Yeah, for me it's important that the pass we play is with purpose.
00:58And today you just really saw the purpose in almost every pass we played.
01:03And for me that's also proper English.
01:05You're welcome.
01:32Thanks.
