Only five of the 21 crew members were rescued alive; the majority of the crew were Filipino

A Panama-flagged bulk carrier, identified as Eternity C, sank on Tuesday (9 July) in the Red Sea after being hit by a missile launched by Houthi forces from Yemen. The vessel was the target of yet another attack in the maritime campaign led by the rebels, which has already affected dozens of ships in the region.

According to preliminary reports, only 5 of the 21 crew members on board were rescued alive. Several sailors were killed in the attack, and many more remain missing. Nearly the entire crew was made up of Filipino nationals.

Footage shared on social media shows the moment Houthi forces launched a missile at the Eternity C, which was sailing in international waters. The explosion reportedly caused severe structural damage, leading to the vessel’s sinking just a few hours later.
