00:00Hi Vogue, this is Priyanka and this is my life in looks.
00:07Aww, baby me.
00:09This is November 30th, 2000.
00:11I remember that because it was the Miss World finale.
00:14It was 18-year-old me and my life suddenly changed when I won this pageant
00:17and I was wearing this custom dress by Hemant Trivedi,
00:21very prolific designer in India that used to make costumes
00:25for all the beauty pageant consistence that went from India.
00:28I was really honored to wear this. Funny story though,
00:31this dress was like really deep, kind of like this,
00:34so I had it taped all the way, but this was like a four-hour show
00:38and I was on stage this whole time, obviously in a pageant,
00:40so sweating away, so the tape had come off.
00:44So after I won, I'm doing a namaste the whole time,
00:48but I'm actually holding my dress up.
00:53Fashion. This was 2008, around that time.
00:58And this was one of my first like female-led movies.
01:02I had been in movies for like four years or something,
01:05so I was really nervous about it.
01:06I worked on it for like six months.
01:08My co-actors are Mugta Godse and Kangana Ranao,
01:11two really, really prolific actors from India
01:14and Angana actually won a really prestigious award
01:17called the National Award with me for this movie.
01:20It was just a really life-changing movie,
01:23and I had 120 or 10 costume changes in the film
01:29because it was like the life of this model.
01:32And I remember that was really talked about
01:34that I wore like 110 like outfits in this movie
01:37because it was fashion.
01:40This. I'm still known by this song.
01:42So you know how in Hindi movies we have dance songs.
01:46So this is one of those dance songs
01:47which was called Desi Girl.
01:49Desi means Indian.
01:50And it basically says,
01:51who's the hottest girl in the world?
01:52The Indian girl.
01:53I literally am known by this name even now.
01:55Like people will write about it
01:56and call me the Desi girl.
01:58And this sari was a Manish Malhotra custom creation.
02:01It was like a gray silver
02:04and it was like light chiffon.
02:06I remember feeling just breezy and sexy in it.
02:09I had like these fans blowing my hair
02:12and the sari was moving.
02:13I had this tiny waist and it was an epic song
02:16and it's the kind of song that's a party starter.
02:18Hey.
02:19Oh, I love this sari.
02:22This was a Ritu Kumar sari
02:25at the Marrakesh Film Festival.
02:27I was being honored.
02:28I really wanted to wear like a beautiful couture piece
02:31and Ritu Kumar is an incredible heritage designer
02:35that we have in India.
02:36And the lace sleeves
02:38with the embroidery on the neck
02:40with the lightness of the sari
02:42in the heat of the desert.
02:43It was just the right amount of airiness that I needed.
02:47I was really honored to be able to go to Marrakesh
02:50and they had this like day dedicated to me.
02:52They had this incredible square where they play movies.
02:55I got to see like thousands and thousands of people
02:57just watching my movies all day.
02:59So it was really amazing to be able to take culture
03:03and to be able to, you know, cross-pollinate it into other countries.
03:07I just love to be able to work now after, you know, working in Hollywood.
03:11And I got to do incredible work in two of the largest movie industries in the world,
03:17you know, between Bollywood and Hollywood.
03:18So I feel really proud about that.
03:21Oh, this was my first Emmys.
03:23This was, I think, season one of Quantico, which was a TV show that I did.
03:28And I remember this was a custom Jason Wu.
03:31I will never forget the feeling of this dress because it was also my first Emmys.
03:35I was kind of feeling myself.
03:36I was very like happy to be there.
03:38You know, my show was successful.
03:40I was meeting colleagues and friends and, you know,
03:42it was really like electric atmosphere.
03:45And I remember on the carpet just because I was like,
03:48I may have had a glass of champagne too, slightly loose.
03:52I was just dancing, twirling.
03:54And there were so many images.
03:55I remember the next day comparing me to the twirling emoji that we have.
04:00The dancing girl.
04:02I loved this dress.
04:03It was beautiful.
04:05This was my second or first Golden Globes.
04:08I can't remember, but I loved this dress.
04:10It was a Ralph Lauren, beautiful gold outfit.
04:14And this neck piece that I was wearing, this huge diamond.
04:17I love the award shows because especially like when you're not nominated or up for anything,
04:23you have a good time meeting your friends and colleagues.
04:25You're presenting.
04:26Sofia Vergara and I ended up in the same dress.
04:29Like it wasn't the same dress, but it looked exactly the same.
04:32We hung out, found tequila everywhere we went.
04:35And then we found Meryl Streep.
04:37This video is really embarrassing.
04:38It's out there somewhere.
04:40But she and I was just really nervous to talk to Meryl Streep.
04:43And then it was a really cute moment backstage.
04:46So I'll always remember that because she and I were twinning all night.
04:51This was my, I think, second Oscars.
04:52And I was wearing this custom Ralph and Russo.
04:56It's also one of my favorites.
04:58I just loved how hourglass it was.
05:01I was at a time in my life where I was super curvilicious.
05:04Right after Best Picture, everybody rushes out to go to the Governor's Ball.
05:08It's a bottleneck, okay?
05:09So I was like, I'm going to get ahead of that.
05:12I'm going to leave before Best Picture is announced, go to the restroom, touch my face up,
05:18and then by then it's going to be done.
05:19I'll meet my friends and everyone and, you know, escape the bottleneck.
05:23So I was in the bathroom with my entire dress in a puddle
05:28because I had to take the whole thing off to use the restroom.
05:32And then I couldn't zip it back up myself.
05:35Finally, Struggle Station, I got the zipper up.
05:38And I remember I walked backstage.
05:41Halle Berry was standing like this.
05:43And I was like, what happened?
05:45And she was like, oh my gosh, they announced the wrong movie.
05:48And I missed history in the bathroom.
05:51This one was my first Met Gala.
05:54It was this Ralph Lauren look.
05:55I think the theme was Comme des Garcons.
05:58I, like, didn't say anything when it came to this.
06:01My stylist was Christina Elric at that time.
06:03And it just so happened, the Atelier asked me if I would walk the carpet with Nick
06:09because both of us were going with the house, but, like, single, alone.
06:15So I was like, this is random.
06:17And I've never done that.
06:19Actually, like, unless I'm promoting a movie or something,
06:22walked a carpet with a co-actor.
06:24And I didn't even know him.
06:25We had, you know, randomly texted over the last year.
06:30But maybe because I was curious, I was like, sure.
06:33We were just supposed to walk the carpet and then we were supposed to go our ways.
06:38And I remember I walked in after the carpet was done.
06:41I took off my train and I was in that, I had a short dress underneath.
06:44And I remember turning around and I was just alone in a room full of people that I didn't know.
06:49And I remember feeling really, like, my feet were stuck to the ground.
06:55I didn't know which direction to go in.
06:56And all I remember is Nick just calling out my name,
06:59handing me his hand and just pulling me in with him.
07:02He's like, this way.
07:03And after that, we spent the whole night together.
07:05So I was kind of really heady with that.
07:08Oh, this was my next Met, again with Ralph Lauren.
07:13This was Heavenly Bodies.
07:15And I was in a really tight corset to make my body look heavenly.
07:20And I remember this veil was embroidered in India.
07:23And I was really proud to be wearing that.
07:26I loved this dress.
07:27It was so pretty.
07:29Marquesa.
07:31This was my bridal shower at Tiffany.
07:34My gosh, this was at the Tiffany store because my engagement ring is from Tiffany.
07:41And I had this fascination with breakfast at Tiffany and all of that.
07:45It was some of my closest friends.
07:47And I remember we shut the whole thing down.
07:49And we were up to like 4 o'clock in the morning.
07:52Shoes were off.
07:53The feathers were everywhere.
07:55And it was such an amazing way to be kind of sent off.
08:00It was really a special night.
08:03Nick was really not someone I expected I would end up with.
08:06But, you know, he's exactly tailor-made for me.
08:10And that only happened because I had myself open to the universe.
08:16He's the best guy.
08:17What do I tell you?
08:18Look at that.
08:19Best decision of my life.
08:21Our wedding day.
08:23Oh.
08:25This was such a perfect moment, too.
08:27This was Ralph Oran, of course, because that's the reason Nick and I met is because
08:31they asked us to go to the Met together.
08:33This was only the fourth dress that Ralph had made for anyone for their weddings.
08:38And the three of them were his family.
08:40It was such a special moment, I remember, in the atelier with him himself working on
08:45the dress with me.
08:46And I know I wanted it to have softness to it and a grace to it, but at the same time be
08:53sort of sexy.
08:54Ralph wanted a 100-foot train because the walk in the palace to the altar was so long and
09:01they were like, we have to fill that space up.
09:03And I was like, I can't walk with 100 feet stitched to my head.
09:07I said 50, and then we settled on 75.
09:10So it was a 75-foot train, which was stitched into my head.
09:13We always knew that we wanted to honor both our cultures.
09:16Like, that was important to both of us.
09:18The Hindu ceremony was Sabyasachi.
09:19It was the first time I worked with Sabyasachi, actually.
09:22And he designed both looks for Nick and I.
09:25And the beautiful thing about the Hindu ceremony's outfit was I was very specific of the red
09:30I wanted.
09:31I wanted the red to be the color of sindoor, which is the vermilion that Indian women wear
09:35when they get married.
09:36And, like, a deep red, not too bright.
09:39And I loved that he had French knots in his embroidery and, like, European influences in,
09:47like, Indian silhouette because of our union.
09:51I wanted a part of my mom and my mother-in-law in both of my dresses.
09:55So my mother-in-law's wedding veil was our pillow on which our ring came.
10:00And I still have that pillow.
10:01And my mom's wedding saree was stitched onto my lehenga.
10:05So it was really intentional.
10:08It was a perfect, perfect day.
10:11Next look.
10:13Oh, my first bow cover.
10:15Oh, this was such a fun day.
10:16Annie is an icon.
10:18I love her so much.
10:19And I think she just has such a point of view.
10:22And I was just happy to be there, honestly.
10:26It was beautiful.
10:27We were out in these fields.
10:29And I was wearing these gorgeous dresses.
10:31And it was a fun day.
10:33This was Cannes, 2019.
10:35My stylist, Mimi Cutrell, who also styled this, styled this look.
10:38And I remember when I saw it, I was like, oh, my gosh, this dress is amazing.
10:42And then I was like, is it too bridal?
10:44And then she was like, you just got married.
10:47So it might be fine.
10:48And I was walking with Nick.
10:50So we were just like, you know what?
10:52Yeah, that's fine.
10:53And that's the reason I wore it.
10:54I thought it was so much fun.
10:55It was raining.
10:56And I remember it was super romantic.
10:58Like I said, my husband takes care of all the things.
11:00So he pulled out an umbrella and held it for me the whole time I walked the carpet.
11:04How sweet.
11:05My hair was not wet at all.
11:08This was an event in Paris for Bulgari.
11:10And that necklace was ridiculous.
11:13It's one of the most beautiful necklaces for Bulgari I've worn.
11:17I walked out of the hotel in this dress.
11:20And whatever angle I stood in, somehow the frills just looked great.
11:26Somehow they sat in a way where your body looked amazing.
11:29It was just the genius of this dress.
11:31And Robert does that kind of craftsmanship so well.
11:35I love that hair and makeup too.
11:36This was the year my daughter was born.
11:39She was born in January.
11:40And this was June, I think.
11:41Malti Marie is always surrounded by love and family and people who care about her.
11:46And I'm very blessed.
11:50Valentino.
11:51This is Valentino, the Rome premiere of Citadel.
11:55And this fit was just amazing.
11:58I was going after Sofia Loren's look with the hair and the eyes.
12:04Sofia has this trick where she would elongate her eyes and put white pencil underneath.
12:09So we did that.
12:10And this dress was just all things drama.
12:13And I never said I'm subtle.
12:15So this was great.
12:17Up my alley.
12:18Okay.
12:21This was Amit Agarwal.
12:23NMACC, which is the Neeta Mukesh Ambani Cultural Center launch in Mumbai.
12:27I wanted to do something which was modern, but at the same time celebrated the Indian heritage.
12:32So Amit Agarwal, the genius designer, my stylist, Amit Patel, they put together this idea.
12:37So I wanted a really modern Western sort of silhouette.
12:40And these are vintage Banarsi saris that were stitched together to create the silhouette.
12:46I was staying at Mrs. Ambani's house when we were leaving her house to come to the event.
12:51My husband was like, let's just stop.
12:53And we're on the Mumbai streets.
12:54And we just stopped on the streets, got into a rickshaw and took some fun pictures together in this dress.
12:59And I was just laughing this whole time because the rickshaw guy was just like, his expression was killing me.
13:09This one.
13:10Funny story.
13:11This was custom Delcor.
13:12It was made specifically for this necklace.
13:15Now this necklace is hundreds of carats of diamonds.
13:19And I wanted to really showcase the dress.
13:21I wanted something that doesn't clash with it.
13:23And I decided I was going to chop off my hair that day.
13:26And everybody talked because I was like, this necklace is great.
13:29It'll look great on my shoulders.
13:31And the next day people were like, oh my gosh, chopped off her hair for the necklace.
13:36For the look, but I didn't chop off my own hair.
13:40I put on a half wig, chopped off the wig, guys.
13:44And everybody thought I chopped off my hair.
13:45That was funny.
13:47Oh, love this outfit.
13:49This was the Red Sea Film Festival in 2024, actually, last year.
13:53And this was this beautiful Oscar de la Renta.
13:56It was just cinched in.
13:59It took two people to get me into this dress.
14:02It was really, really sweet of SJP to say the most amazing, sweet things about me
14:08while I was getting honored at the festival.
14:09And just to be surrounded by these icons and be even in their company was awesome.
14:15And she's just really cool.
14:17And I remember I stepped on my dress and all the beads came off when I walked onto the carpet.
14:22And I told her, I was like, haha.
14:23I dressed just tore.
14:24And she was like, haha, it's fine.
14:25No one can see.
14:27This was my brother's wedding.
14:29This was a custom Manish Milhotra.
14:31And I was dying to wear teal or blue.
14:33I felt like I hadn't worn this color for a really long time.
14:36And family weddings are crazy.
14:38But Indian weddings are, like, especially times 10 crazy.
14:42And my mom insisted on handling all the production of the wedding herself,
14:48which meant I was her executive assistant.
14:50Getting all the things together, the gifts, the return gifts,
14:53and just running around.
14:55So I needed all my outfits to not be too heavy.
14:57And I remember I took off the tool from underneath this
14:59because this was for the actual wedding.
15:02My daughter was able to go and attend.
15:05She was the center of attention.
15:07And we, like, matched all our outfits together as a family.
15:10And all the designers I worked with, my stylist Ami in India,
15:14she worked with them and really customized each look for us as a cohesive look for the family.
15:20It was really cheesy, I know, but I really wanted to do it.
15:23And Malty in her little fits was just so cute.
15:26Okay.
15:28All right.
15:292025.
15:30This is custom Balmain, styled by Mimi Couturell again.
15:34That necklace is 240-something carats.
15:38One piece of an emerald.
15:40And we wanted to do the dress kind of to complement the necklace and vice versa.
15:45The theme this year was superfine tailoring black style.
15:48So the tailoring was really, really impeccable in this dress.
15:51It had three layers.
15:52It had a train, which I didn't even wear to come to the carpet.
15:57I just took it off after I got out of the hotel.
15:58It was too much.
15:59It was raining.
16:00It was a mess.
16:01So then I had a jacket on and the jacket comes off and then there's a dress on underneath.
16:05So I love to simplify my outfits by the time I get through the carpet.
16:09The hat kept bonking my husband's head.
16:11So he had to kind of find his way around it, which was really funny on the carpet.
16:17Because I was like, I'm so sorry.
16:19We have this tradition from since when Malty was born.
16:22Every time we go to the match, she comes in when we're getting dressed.
16:25And we always get dressed together, Nick and I.
16:27So she's always in the room, like, you know, trying on my clothes, doing hair and makeup with us.
16:33And just, you know, spending that good quality time together before we leave.
16:37And this time she said, she calls Nick Gaga.
16:40So she said, Mama and Gaga are going to the ball, just like Cinderella.
16:44And she said, Mama, you look like Cinderella.
16:46So she wore my shoes and my train and my hat and my gloves.
16:51And she was walking around everywhere in all my stuff.
16:54She's such a little girl.
16:56And yesterday she literally said to my husband, he was wearing a suit.
17:00And she goes, Gaga, you look like a prince.
17:02I want to dance with you.
17:04And they were dancing for like 10 minutes.
17:07Just dancing.
17:08That was so cute.
17:09I feel like I really, like, went through my life.
17:13And I remember a lot of things that I had forgotten.
17:16So thank you, Vogue, for that.
17:23As a life is a sum of all its moments, thank you for reminding me.
17:32I don't look forward to living.
17:39I wish I'd ever came back.
17:44I will work your celeste.
17:50Just let me feel like I don't want to have a family.
17:52So thank you, Vogue.
17:54Vogue.
