00:00France's president, Emmanuel Macron, has just been addressing the Houses of Parliament in the UK.

00:06He's currently there on a state visit.

00:09I just want to read to you some lines that he did say during that speech.

00:13He said the recognition of state of Palestine is the only way to build peace in the region.

00:22What do you make of what Emmanuel Macron has been saying to the Houses of Parliament?

00:27The only way to bring peace to the Middle East, and I think we're also going to see a breakthrough in the Abraham Accord,

00:35maybe with Syria, maybe Saudi Arabia, is to have a solution to the Palestinians

00:40that will enable Israel to live in safe borders as a Jewish state.

00:46And a potential solution might be one day two-state solution,

00:50but a recognition of a Palestinian state today will bring nothing to the Palestinians

00:56because, in fact, Israel is still in power in the West Bank,

01:02and we seek a solution that will enable Israel to be sure

01:10and be completely confident that the Palestinians are not going to attack it

01:17through the West Bank as they're done from Gaza.

01:20So basically, two-state solution is a potential future solution for the crisis

01:26and for the century conflict, but forcing the solution would not bring it to an end.
