This dog had suffered severe chemical burns at the hands of previous owners. However, a compassionate rescue group stepped in to help him heal. His wounds were slowly recovering with regular ointment application, and along with proper food, he was finally receiving the love and care he had always deserved.

00:00Hi guys, Alyssa from Aviary Creature Rescue here. I wanted to give you the much anticipated
00:05update on Peyton. He has now been renamed. We'll get to that in a minute. He's doing great,
00:11still in the hospital. We still need help with his medical bills, but we are so excited with
00:15the progress. So here are the update photos and videos from the last few days.
00:20So each day the doctors have been removing the necrotic skin, which is the skin that has died
00:25basically and putting ointment on it to promote healing. So he looks extremely rough, but I
00:30promise he's going in the right direction. Here he is eating some chicken, which is his new favorite.
00:36We were having trouble getting him to eat the critical nutrition puppy food. So they started
00:41adding in chicken and he is loving it. So we think they've got the last of the dying skin off.
00:49We don't know what it's going to look like in the future with respect to what hair is going to grow
00:53back or how his scars are going to heal. But so far he has been such a fighter.
00:58And now for the name change we promised, meet Lamb Chop. When we got these photos today,
01:02that is all we could see. And the team unanimously agreed that our former Peyton is now Lamb Chop.
01:09Please see caption for how to help with his continued hospital stay and healing journey.
