00:01Shenzhen é uma cidade realmente viva e nova.

00:07Porque é nova, a geração jovem que trabalha aqui não é de Shenzhen,

00:12mas eles se tornem de Shenzhen quando eles se tornem aqui.

00:16É simplesmente...vícante.

00:30Eu sou Martin, eu sou Head of Mathematics at an international school aqui em Shenzhen.

00:35É meu segundo ano em Shenzhen e meu 11º ano total em China.

00:46As an expat, geralmente, eu acho que a comunidade é muito, muito importante.

00:50Quando eu comecei a rodar, 4 ou 5 anos atrás, eu encontrei uma nova comunidade.

00:54Então, quando eu movedi a Shenzhen,

00:56meu colega e eu decidiu que nós conseguimos fazer isso em Shenzhen.

00:59Então, 2 anos atrás, eu set up a versão de Parkrun em Shenzhen.

02:03Cada área tem seu próprio estilo,

02:05mas é muito bom,

02:07particularmente em Xê Kô, onde vivemos.

02:09Então, a vida em Shenzhen é incrível.

02:13Nós estamos muito feliz em Xê Kô,

02:14e temos uma camada maravilhosa,

02:19que é 40 quilômetros em total.

02:29Yeah, it's nice to have a lot of freedom over here

02:32and be able to go out at night and feel safe.

02:36It's fun.

02:37Yeah, the safety is the big thing, actually, isn't it?

02:39It's really good that, you know,

02:40sort of when you're walking home,

02:41you don't need to worry or anything like that.

02:43Yeah.

02:44Yeah.

02:44And the thing is that here is so walkable,

02:47and when we go back to my parents,

02:50everything will have to be in a car.

02:52As a family unit, it's incredibly convenient.

03:07In Xê Kô and Shenzhen as well,

03:09there's a lot of authenticity about the restaurants that we have.

03:13So Tequila Coyote is a restaurant I go to often.

03:16It's run by an amazing Mexican guy.

03:25When I came to Shenzhen, there wasn't a Math Jam.

03:27There wasn't one set up.

03:28And I wanted one, so I set one up.

03:31The idea is to give an opportunity for people who just like maths

03:35and puzzles and games to meet together in a bar or a pub,

03:39do maths puzzles.

03:40So yeah, I found the right place,

03:42and then I found a common core of people that wanted to come,

03:44and then yeah, got the ball rolling.

04:02Technology is a really key feature of living in a city like Shenzhen,

04:06and it just feels very integrated and no hassle.

04:10If I turn a corner and go,

04:11is there a place I can buy a power bank?

04:13There will be.

04:14Just the convenience of all of that,

04:16mainly due to technology, is fabulous.

04:19What really strikes me is we have something called China speed,

04:33and then we have something called Shenzhen speed,

04:35which is even faster.

04:37So the speed at which things change and grow,

04:39always for the better, is unbelievable.

04:41I mean, they can move a road like four meters to the left overnight.

04:45I mean, it's stunning what they can do.

04:47So I really love the what's next,

04:49what's different when we come back from a holiday.

04:51It's really kind of cool, actually.
