00:00It's lights out and away we go, Russell does get away well, as does Max Verstappen,

00:05and Valtteri Bottas has got his teammate right alongside him already.

00:08Sergio Perez is trying to challenge as George Russell goes into the first turn,

00:12and George Russell takes the lead of the Sakhir Grand Prix.

00:15Valtteri Bottas is second and gets all out of shape coming out of turn two.

00:19That's going to give Perez and Verstappen all the impetus they need,

00:23as it's three cars going wheel-to-wheel, there's a spin right at the back,

00:26could be Kimi Raikkonen in the Alfa Romeo.

00:28Look up there as Perez is caught by Charles Leclerc, and there's three cars gone off at turn four,

00:34and we've already got high drama here on the opening lap,

00:38and it's Max Verstappen who was the third of those cars, he is out of the race on the first lap.

00:43George Russell taking the lead, and two really fancied runners this evening in the barriers together there.

00:50Well, that's really taken the sting out of an element of this race, hasn't it?

00:54And Sergio Perez all the way down in 18th place.

00:57Leclerc caught Perez, we saw the racing point getting all out of shape.

01:02So Max seems under control, and then gets on the skittles, and he's straight in the barrier.

01:08Wow! Perez then makes a pit stop.

01:11Lap seven of this Sakhir Grand Prix, and it's George Russell then leading the way from Bottas, from Sainz,

01:19and Sainz looks to have got a very nice safety car restart.

01:22He's putting Bottas under all sorts of pressure going into turn one.

01:26It's side by side.

01:27McLaren and Mercedes inside line goes to Sainz, and Carlos Sainz takes second place,

01:32but has to go off the track in doing so.

01:34That allows Valtteri Bottas to reclaim that second place.

01:37George Russell already flying out in front.

01:40Ricciardo is currently fourth from Kvyat.

01:42And then comes Lance Stroll, Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Sebastian Vettel and Lando Norris.

01:47What a duel that was, Sainz and Bottas.

01:50Alex Albon is right on the back now of Lando Norris, and he might be sizing up a move to go round the

01:56outside and then pinch the inside line at turn five.

01:59Norris tries to cover it off.

02:00Alex Albon, that is what he can do in Formula One, swoops past Lando Norris,

02:05and Sergio Perez then gets Norris as well, using all his years of experience

02:10to pick up the scraps after Norris had been overtaken by the Red Bull.

02:13That puts Perez into the World Championship points already.

02:19Oh, here comes Sergio Perez again.

02:21He got past Lando Norris on the last lap, fancies Alex Albon on this particular lap.

02:25You wouldn't think there's much space there, but Perez

02:28manages to squeeze a Formula One car through it.

02:30Well done Alex Albon for leaving just enough room, making it difficult, but Perez is passed.

02:36There is Nicolas Latifi by the side of the track, so that's the exit of turn eight.

02:42Here we go, virtual safety car.

02:43Yeah, there it is.

02:44Virtual safety car's ended, Carlos Sainz has come in for a pit stop.

02:48And I'll tell you who it has helped, Sergio Perez make places up as well.

02:51He's on the hard tyre, he's going to the end on those hard tyres.

02:54He's going to try and get past his teammate if he can.

02:56Lock up there by Lance Stroll, and that will certainly help.

02:59Sergio Perez gets past, and the racing points swap places.

03:03Sergio Perez goes up into fourth place.

03:07Here comes Sergio Perez on Esteban Ocon.

03:10He overtook his teammates on the last lap.

03:13He's got DRS to help him breeze past Esteban Ocon here.

03:17Sergio Perez for the second week in a row here in Bahrain is running in the podium places.

03:24There's a front wing lost by Jack Akin.

03:26We're going to need a safety car then to clear that away, I think.

03:32Safety car's been deployed.

03:36I can't see a gap in the way the cars are distributed around the track.

03:44The front right tyre was slow for George Russell.

03:50And for Valtteri Bottas, even more confusion for a crew that are normally very, very adept.

03:55They're not happy with the left front.

03:59Well, they double stacked.

04:00They've reacted really, really quickly, Mercedes.

04:03And this is costing Bottas.

04:05Oh, his brakes are on fire now as well.

04:07They had the wrong compound of tyre on, and that's why they couldn't send him out again.

04:11But now those brakes are overheating.

04:13He has lost track position to Sergio Perez.

04:17He's gone from second to fifth while all that was happening.

04:22Okay, George, we're going to need to box box.

04:23We have a mixed tyre set on the car.

04:26Basically, what's happened is they've got some of Bottas' tyres on,

04:29or indeed all of Bottas' tyres on.

04:32As now we go racing once more,

04:34Sergio Perez leads the Sakhir Grand Prix from Esteban Ocon.

04:39They're having a terrific race tonight.

04:40Lance Stroll's in third.

04:42Valtteri Bottas down the inside.

04:43George Russell right behind him.

04:44Alex Albon's making a move.

04:46You can see the sparks flying,

04:47and Alex Albon almost goes into the back of Pierre Gasly,

04:51but manages to avoid him and take ninth place as well.

04:56And Valtteri Bottas goes a little bit wider through turn four.

05:00Russell's now going to have a go at him on this twisty section of the track.

05:04The middle section.

05:05He's got the inside line at turn seven, and he goes past his teammate.

05:08George Russell overtakes Valtteri Bottas.

05:11That was committed.

05:12It was brave.

05:13It was brilliant.

05:15Mercedes Power against Mercedes Power.

05:17He's trying to break the tow-line stroll.

05:18George Russell's made up his mind to go down the inside.

05:21Late on the brakes into turn one.

05:23Enough room for Russell to squeeze past and back up into the top three once again.

05:28Look how George Russell has closed up that gap to Esteban Ocon.

05:34All the while Sergio Perez having it his own way out in front.

05:36He's got the inside line.

05:37George Russell into turn four.

05:39That was an easier move on Esteban Ocon.

05:42Now can Perez hold on.

05:44Valtteri Bottas is under pressure from Carlos Sainz.

05:46Those tyres that are a little bit too old for Valtteri Bottas' liking have cost him again as Carlos Sainz moves up into fifth place.

05:54Sainz who lost places when he pitted at the end of the virtual safety car and the track went green.

05:59Sainz lost places.

06:00He's making the place back up again now.

06:02And Daniel Ricciardo too.

06:04Because Ricciardo goes past Bottas into the last corner, up into sixth.

06:07And now Alex Albon fancies having a go at Valtteri Bottas.

06:11And those tyres are just falling away from him.

06:13Bottas has got DRS, but he can't defend.

06:16Or can he?

06:17Because there's a drag race down the street and the Mercedes Power unit is really helping.

06:21But under braking, Albon goes through.

06:24Looks like a rear left puncture. Looks like rear left puncture.

06:27That's George Russell's chance of a podium absolutely gone now.

06:31We've been denied a thrilling, thrilling last few laps as well, haven't we?

06:37The man who was in last place at the end of lap one comes home to win the Sakhir Grand Prix, Sergio Perez.

06:46Wow, what a race for him and for Racing Point. Esteban Ocon take a bow.

06:52His first podium in Formula 1. And it's the first ever double podium for Racing Point as well,

06:58as Lance Stroll takes third place.

07:04It was Racing Point who took 40 points from this race and strengthened their grip on third

07:11place in the Constructors' Championship. But for that man, it's Magnifico, it's Sergio,
