How Ryan Lochte's Betrayal Led to Divorce

00:09While another insider added, Ryan betrayed Kayla's trust in numerous ways.

00:14Now, Reid announced on June 4th that she had made the hard decision to file for divorce from Lochte

00:18after seven years of marriage. She wrote on Instagram at the time,

00:22this has been one of the most painful, revealing and challenging seasons of my life.

00:26The first source explained that Kayla stuck it out as long as possible for the sake of their three

00:30kids. But there are only so many times you can repeat the cycle before you have to be selfish

00:36and do what's best for you and your family. The couple's relationship was irreparable by its end,

00:41according to the second insider, who also claims that he shattered her heart.

00:45Rumors about the cause of Lochte's separation from Kayla have been swirling for weeks,

00:50but the swimmer said in a June 18th statement that he wouldn't be replying to allegations made by

00:55third parties in order to protect the privacy of their children. While the second insider notes

01:00that Kayla is heartbroken, she has been in a good headspace since leaving Ryan. They add that she

01:06feels she's getting her independence back and is picking up the pieces. She knows she will be able

01:11to move forward on her own.
