00:00Hello, my name is Colleen Mayall, I'm an Executive Director for Children's Services at Walsall Council.
00:07Hi, I'm Councillor Mark Stadden, the portfolio of children, families and lifelong learning.
00:13It's my pleasure to tell people and announce to Walsall and the wider West Midlands
00:18that we are the first council within the West Midlands metropolitan borough
00:22to be awarded outstanding via Ofsted.
00:26This judgement from Ofsted is a huge achievement for not only Walsall Council,
00:32but the children and families that we serve, the partners that we work with,
00:36the council as a part as a whole including our elected members.
00:40It's been a real team effort and we are so proud of our staff,
00:45not only through this inspection process but the great work that they do every day to improve outcomes for children.
00:52Ofsted recognise the journey of transformation that Walsall Children's Services has been on since 2017
01:00and we have strived to improve outcomes for all children and families so that they have the best staffs
01:07and so that they reach their full potential.
01:10The inspection is a rigorous process but recognise the strengths of the great work that our social workers
01:18and our non-social qualified workers do every day.
01:22They also recognise the great work that we do as a partnership and how we work with our partners
01:28to achieve the very best for our children and their families.
01:32We are so proud to be able to announce this judgement today to our staff.
