00:00A good night's sleep is refreshing, and a new study finds that it is also important for heart health.
00:07The Journal of the American Heart Association found that people who vary their bedtimes by more than two hours
00:13can increase their risk of atherosclerosis, which is the plaque that can build up inside of arteries.
00:20The study monitored 2,000 adults over the age of 45 with an average age of 69.
00:25Assistant Professor Kelsey Full led the study and said,
00:30Maintaining regular sleep schedules and decreasing variability in sleep is an easily adjustable lifestyle behavior
00:37that can not only help improve sleep, but also help reduce cardiovascular risk for aging adults.
00:44The American Heart Association recommends people get 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night.
