00:00Brand new season, brand new dawn for Formula 1, it's the Bahrain Grand Prix

00:06and it's lights out and away we go!

00:09Brilliant start then for Charles Leclerc

00:11and Lewis Hamilton already trying to get past Carlos Sainz

00:14but it's Leclerc on the inside ahead of Verstappen

00:17Carlos Sainz stays in third, Perez on the inside now with Lewis Hamilton

00:21there's a little bit of a kerfuffle going on through Turn 2

00:23but Leclerc makes it into the lead

00:25and Hamilton has got half a car length, now a whole car length

00:28ahead of Sergio Perez and now he's been challenged as Perez by Kevin Magnussen

00:33Leclerc into Turn 4 from Verstappen Sainz

00:35Hamilton on the inside now of Kevin Magnussen

00:38and then comes Perez and Russell

00:40Yes, Perez got out of shape coming out of Turn 2

00:43had to get out of the throttle, that cost him two places in the end

00:47as he tried to get back up alongside Lewis Hamilton

00:52Meanwhile the FIA stewards have decided Esteban Ocon

00:56should be given a five second penalty for causing a collision

00:59that I think goes along with what the FIA were saying from those guidelines

01:05Sergio Perez is trying to get a bit closer to Kevin Magnussen himself

01:08and we'll see with these new regulations whether it is much easier to follow

01:12as a lock up there from Kevin Magnussen going into Turn 1

01:15gives half a sniff to Sergio Perez to try and get past

01:19he couldn't do it out of Turn 3 but he might

01:21on the run now down to Turn 4

01:23Magnussen moves to the inside to try and cut him off

01:25Perez is going to have to go the long way round

01:27Magnussen's got that one covered

01:29unless Perez can get him on the exit of Turn 4

01:31and Perez the wily old campaigner

01:33might be a front tyre ahead going down the hill

01:36he's now a whole car ahead going down the hill

01:38Magnussen gave him the chance, Perez said thank you very much

01:42as Sergio Perez there getting

01:46That's Hamilton and Perez, look Hamilton's got DRS here

01:48he's going to have a go into Turn 4

01:50that is an awful lot easier than it might have been this time last year

01:54a Red Bull and a Mercedes going wheel to wheel into Turn 4

01:57Perez stays within the white lines

01:59Max Verstappen couldn't manage it twelve months ago

02:01Perez up to fourth place

02:03Lap 17 and the fastest lap of this race goes to Max Verstappen

02:09who's going now for the lead of the race

02:11and in a shower of sparks makes his way into Turn 1 ahead of Charles Leclerc

02:16tried to get past Leclerc as he came out of the pits

02:19had to wait a lap but now can Leclerc with DRS get back at Verstappen

02:24we're heading towards Turn 4

02:26this has been a bit of a problem for these two in the past

02:29no problem this time for Charles Leclerc

02:31can he stay on track then it's just as he retakes the lead from Max Verstappen

02:36and Leclerc immediately tries to move around to break the slipstream

02:41and you can do that gently once or twice

02:46but you can't do it at the last moment

02:48and has he covered the inside

02:49he's doing it again, he's going for it again Max Verstappen

02:51and he's got a quarter of a car length in front

02:54now they come out of Turn 2

02:56and he's got a couple of car lengths in front Max Verstappen

02:59that was so far back but once again Leclerc's got the DRS

03:03this time he's got the inside line

03:05forces Max a little bit wide

03:07goes into Turn 4

03:08Leclerc for the second lap running

03:10has retaken the lead

03:12and has come out of Turn 4 ahead

03:14this is absolutely epic

03:18Leclerc's using his battery pack in an attack or defensive mode rather

03:22here he goes, here he goes, here he goes, he's doing it

03:25it's miles different

03:26oh that's a big old lockup Max

03:27well this time he locks up and did you hear the cheers of the crowd

03:30who are absolutely loving this under the lights in Bahrain

03:34at this time around Charles Leclerc with the aid of that lockup

03:37has got the advantage going into Turn 4

03:39and he should be far enough ahead to keep that advantage as well

03:42Max, is the wheel heavy in both directions, so both left hand and right hand

03:48everywhere, everywhere, it's not even smooth

03:51well he's going to slow down because we're going to get a safety car here

03:54because Pierre Gasly's Alfa Tauri has overheated and has caught fire

03:59the Marshall straight on there with the extinguisher

04:01but that is a very, very hot Alfa

04:04real disappointment for him and we can see Martin

04:08yeah, it's a complete power failure look from his dashboards gone completely

04:12so it's not an engine blow

04:15and this is Max's favourite trick isn't it?

04:21and he's left himself very tight on that last corner actually has Max

04:30and Max Verstappen as they head down the straight

04:41going into turn 1

04:43almost collected by Lewis Hamilton

04:45who was arriving at a rate of knots

04:47but now it's Leclerc towards turn 4

04:50then comes Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez

04:52Hamilton, Russell

04:53and then Kevin Magnussen

04:55what's going on with the battery?

05:05and overtakes Max Verstappen

05:07and it's a Ferrari 1-2 here in Bahrain

05:10as Carlos Sainz moves up into 2nd place

06:01Hamilton looking for damage limitation

06:04has seen the damage to the Red Bull

06:06and he's going to pick up another podium
