Interview with Russell T.Davies, Showrunner of the BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who
Transcript
00:00the pantheon of villains like i i love them like they're they're so fun and i i can only imagine
00:06how fun it was to write those episodes and cast neil and jinx in those roles so i was curious if
00:12you could talk to me a bit about what it was like developing these stories for these characters and
00:16what was your favorite part about incorporating them into the doctor's story absolutely it was
00:21the freedom that's why i did it exactly i was to take the take the wheels off the bike and take
00:25take the roof off the off the room and lift things into the in the world of fantasy the hard thing is
00:30finding a way to defeat them i mean that's what i mean it becomes very hard for me to think of ways
00:35for them to be defeated and therefore it becomes hard for the doctor to think of ways for them to
00:39be defeated so i love that even now i'm having to invent rules that will that will pin them down
00:44but and believe you me there are more of these gods to come there's i can promise you at least three
00:49more that's a scoop i haven't said that before um that i i very much enjoying them they're they're
00:54allied with stories that don't have gods in them the the the when you get to stephen moffat's
00:58episode called boom um which is so brilliant i mean the man is a master of the art and and and it's
01:05my honor to work with him that's very much hard science fiction very technical rules which pin
01:10the doctor down with as much terror as any god can do so we do keep telling those stories as well but
01:15when the gods arrive with that laughter with the giggle i think all rules are off and i think
01:20it's like being strapped into a roller coaster i think the audience gets taken on hell of a ride
01:25i'm glad you like them thank you i love that yeah oh it's lovely and jinx was just fabulous as the
