00:00So when you look at the regular season record, who has the best by far, that would be Minnesota.
00:0517-2, a four-and-a-half game lead over the Phoenix Mercury and the New York Liberty.
00:13And according to the regular season mark, a perfect 11-0 at home.
00:1880-75, the win for Minnesota over the Chicago Sky yesterday.
00:23We'll get to the comparison in title odds in just a moment.
00:26But let's give some credit to Angel Reese, who has been absolutely balling.
00:30Five consecutive games, DRS, of at least 16 boards and has been racking it up with some points.
00:3718, 17, 24, and 16.
00:40Better than 43% from the floor in all four of those consecutive games, scoring at least 16 points.
00:48Of course, efficiency has been a huge question for Reese into her second year.
00:53She is cleaning it up and playing really, really well.
00:55All right, back to the title odds.
00:57The New York Liberty, the reigning champs, DRS, still the favorites by 60 cents.
01:02But the Lynx, by far the best team at plus 230 in New York.
01:06A part of the tripleheader yesterday, beat at home by the Seattle Storm in Brooklyn.
01:12Yeah, we're taking a look here at these odds pricing and saying to ourselves,
01:16all right, this feels a lot like the NBA.
01:18Hey, look at this.
01:19One team is 17-2.
01:20One team is 12-6.
01:21Doesn't matter.
01:22Regular season doesn't mean anything.
01:23Just wait to get to the playoffs, and the Minnesota Lynx will fold up.
01:26Well, don't we sort of get that eye point from the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA?
01:3117-2.
01:32Best record in the WNBA.
01:33Oh, okay.
01:34See, they'll fold the playoffs once they get there.
01:35They haven't won anything just yet here.
01:37That might not be the case at this point.
01:38So, maybe buyer beware.
01:40We just think, ah, playoffs get here.
01:42The Liberty are going to be better than the Lynx.
01:43That'll be some interesting thought process to watch out.
01:45Also, you are right.
01:46They did lose to the Fever without Kaitlin Clark, but it doesn't count against the record, which is kind of interesting here.
01:52But on the plus side here, it looks like we have a lot of competitive teams heading down the stretch with multiple teams with a legitimate chance to win.
01:59And also, the key wild card for real is the Indiana Fever when they get Kaitlin Clark, if they get her back healthy.
02:05She's missed a lot of games.
02:06A lot of games.
02:07We'll talk about CC in just a moment.
02:10I bet the Lynx last week had a 3-1 price to win the WNBA title because the RS, the question we had about OKC was that playoff pedigree.
02:19Well, Nafisa Collier and the Lynx have it.
02:21They went to five games.
02:22Of course, last year, the WNBA finals only a best of five.
02:25This year, for the first time, ever a best of seven.
02:28They went to five games against the Liberty.
02:30And in that decisive winner-take-all game five, forced OT as well.
02:36And Minnesota, more than likely, having to travel to Barclays last year will have home-floor advantage if this keeps up the remainder of the summer.
02:44Give me the Lynx in how they are playing.
02:46Give me Nafisa Collier, who is the hefty favorite to win WNBA MVP at minus 550.
02:52You see Brianna Stewart there, 11-1, our reigning WNBA MVP winner.
02:58In that price, the RS, Stewie's been struggling.
03:00Four of 17 yesterday against the Seattle Storm.
03:05And it's part of the reason the Liberty have struggled as well.
03:08Now, injuries have been a big component.
03:11Yes, Brianna Stewart is still there.
03:13Yes, Sabrina Yinescu is still there.
03:1522 points yesterday for New York.
03:17They just got back.
03:18Leonie Feebich was one of their leaders as well.
03:20But no double J.
03:21That is Jonquale Jones, one of the best bigs in the association.
03:25He is still out for about four to six weeks.
03:27The RS with an ankle sprain.
03:30So when you look at the New York Liberty, you do kind of have to question what the outlook
03:35is despite remaining the title favorites.
03:37But injuries could be the main reason.
03:39Yeah, play their way back into certainly being a favorite that they are here in the sports
03:43books.
03:44Understand this.
03:44By the way, do we really need seven game series and playoffs and finals?
03:49Like, do we really need that?
03:50Like, and I know football is not the same.
03:53But like one game, man, you know that night you're winning or losing or moving on.
03:57There is something to that.
03:58But I see like the WNBA get a laugh at it.
04:00It's like, okay, like that's like a quarter of their season, which is just the WNBA final.
04:03It feels like I just don't know if we need seven games.
04:06I really don't.
04:07It seems a little much.
04:08I like it.
04:09I like the idea of extending to seven, at least for that championship series.
04:13Speaking of injuries, the RS around the WNBA, Caitlin Clark has been a big story.
04:19Of course, she has already missed a ton of games this season.
04:23She could return on Wednesday against the Golden State Valkyries.
04:27But that's seemingly unlikely.
04:28And in the nine games without Clark this year, including the Commissioner's Cup championship game on Tuesday night, Indiana victorious.
04:36Five and four without CeCe.
04:40But again, Clark in her second year, despite struggling with injuries, a groin, a hamstring at times, or a quad injury, I should say she has been great.
04:4918 points per game, averaging nearly nine dimes.
04:53Her shooting has been off this year.
04:55A couple of games without even hitting a three.
04:57And in her last three games on the floor, Caitlin Clark, one of 23 from beyond the arc.
05:03Some people have questioned, are the fever better without Caitlin Clark?
05:08Don't reveal yourself to be an idiot by asking the same question.
05:11They're more dangerous without her.
05:13There's crazy comments here floating around social media at that point.
05:16But also understand this, like from a person that you've known to have soft tissue injuries throughout his career, it compounds themselves.
05:23Hey, he started with a quad.
05:24How did he get to a groin?
05:25Your body overcompensates when you're truly not 100%.
05:28So for her, sit out as long as you possibly can, as long as you're in that playoff picture, and come back healthy.
05:35We'll all enjoy the playoff run if you can do that.
05:38Yeah, and DRS, for Clark, by the way, who last year, despite the crazy turnaround, of course, the WNBA rookies find themselves in after, if they did, like Clark reaching a national championship game or a deep run in the NCAA tournament, basically turn around within a few weeks and start their WNBA professional careers as well.
05:57Clark was healthy, healthy throughout the entirety of her four years at Iowa.
06:02This is really the first time she has missed considerable time throughout her basketball career.
06:06A doubleheader tonight.
06:08Really good matchup in the WNBA in Atlanta.
06:10The Dream take on the Valkyrie.
06:12Golden State, an expansion team.
06:149-8 above .500.
06:16Atlanta, 11-7.
06:18Fifth best record in the WNBA.
06:21Six and a half points spread in favor of the Dream.
06:24The Mercury, also pretty solid this season as well.
06:28DRS, 12-6 alongside the Liberty.
06:32Time for that second-best record.
06:33They will take on Paige Beckers and the Dallas Wings.
06:36Dallas, a ton of injuries.
06:38Six and 13 this year.
06:40Not great overall in Becker's first campaign.
