The Fear of the Wise Turtle - Universal Storytelling
Transcript
00:00Once upon a time in a lush and vibrant forest, there lived a wise, calm and elderly turtle.
00:07He was known throughout the forest for his deep knowledge, his infinite patience, and his peaceful nature.
00:14All the animals respected and loved him.
00:16They would often come to him for advice when they had problems or concerns.
00:21One day, the forest animals were filled with fear and anxiety.
00:26A terrible disaster was coming.
00:28It could be a great storm, a ruthless hunter, or even a mysterious illness that was spreading through the forest.
00:36The animals didn't know what to do.
00:39They were scared and desperate for help.
00:41So they all went to see the wise old turtle, hoping that he could help them and guide them through this difficult time.
00:49They sat down round him, each animal sharing their fears and concerns.
00:54The turtle listened patiently, his wise eyes twinkling with understanding.
00:59Finally, when everyone had spoken, the turtle began to speak.
01:04His voice was calm and deep, like the rustling of leaves in the wind.
01:09My friends, he said, I understand your fears.
01:13We are all mortal, and we must face the uncertainty of life with courage.
01:18However, I must tell you that I am also afraid.
01:22The animals were shocked.
01:23The wisest and most peaceful creature they knew was afraid to.
01:27How could this be possible?
01:30They looked at the turtle, trying to understand how he could be so calm and wise, yet still be afraid.
01:37The turtle continued, my fear is not of the storm, or the hunter, or any other external danger.
01:45My fear is of something much more internal and personal.
01:49I am afraid of breaking your trust.
01:51I am afraid of losing my honor, and I am afraid of not keeping my word.
01:56The animals were confused.
01:58What did the turtle mean?
02:00Why was he afraid of breaking their trust?
02:02The turtle said, when you seek my advice, you do so because you believe in my wisdom and experience.
02:11If I were to give you advice that is not right, or if I were to break my word,
02:16it would be a great dishonor to myself and to our friendship.
02:20I am afraid that I might not be able to help you, and that I might fail you.
02:24The animals thought about what the turtle had said.
02:27They had never thought of their wise old friend as being afraid of anything.
02:32And now he was telling them that his greatest fear was not of the dangers that threatened them all,
02:39but of failing them.
02:40Slowly, the animals began to understand.
02:43The wise old turtle was not perfect.
02:46He was just like them, afraid and uncertain of the future.
02:50But despite his fear, he was still trying his best to help them.
02:55One of the monkeys spoke up.
02:57But wise turtle, how can we know if you are truly afraid, or if you are just testing us?
03:03The turtle smiled gently.
03:06That is a very good question, little monkey.
03:09But I am not afraid of your questions or doubts.
03:12I welcome them.
03:14For it is through our doubts that we grow and learn,
03:17And it is through our questions that we find the answers we seek.
03:22The animals looked at each other, realizing that the wise old turtle was right.
03:28They needed to face their fears and doubts head on, just as he was doing.
03:32The turtle continued,
03:34You see, my friends, fear is a part of life.
03:38We cannot avoid it or deny it.
03:41But we can choose how we respond to it.
03:43We can choose to face our fear with honesty and courage,
03:48Or we can choose to ignore it and let it consume us.
03:52The animals thought about what the turtle had said.
03:56They realized that they had been ignoring their fear instead of facing it.
04:01They had been running away from it, hoping that it would go away.
04:05But the turtle was right.
04:07Their fear was still there, and it was only getting worse.
04:10The turtle said,
04:12Do not misunderstand me, my friends.
04:15I am not saying that it is easy to face our fears.
04:19It is often difficult and painful.
04:21But it is also in our moments of greatest fear and uncertainty
04:25That we have the opportunity to grow and become stronger.
04:30The animals nodded, understanding that the turtle was right.
04:35They had been given a choice, and the choice was theirs to make.
04:38They could continue to be afraid, and let their fear control them.
04:43Or they could face their fear and grow from it.
04:46The turtle said,
04:48Do not let your fear define you.
04:50Do not let it control you or determine your actions.
04:53The turtle said,
04:54Let it motivate you to become the best version of yourself.
04:58The animals were inspired by the turtle's words.
05:01They realized that they had been wrong in assuming that the wisest and most peaceful creature in the forest was not afraid.
05:10In fact, he was afraid, just like them.
05:13But he had chosen to face his fear and use it to make him stronger.
05:18The turtle said,
05:19Remember, my friends, that fear is a universal experience.
05:24No one is immune to it.
05:26But it is up to us to decide how we will respond to it.
05:30Will we allow our fear to consume us, or will we use it to make us stronger?
05:35The animals thought about the turtle's words.
05:38They realized that they had been wrong in thinking that fear was a sign of weakness.
05:44In fact, it was a sign of courage and strength.
05:48The turtle said,
05:49My friends, I may be old and slow, but I have learned many lessons in my long life.
05:55One of the most important lessons I have learned is that the greatest strength comes from our ability to face our fear.
06:04When we are able to look our fear in the face and keep moving forward, that is when we become truly strong.
06:11The animals looked at the turtle in awe.
06:14They realized that he was right.
06:16Strength did not come from avoiding fear, but from facing it.
06:21The turtle said,
06:22I know that you are all brave and courageous,
06:25and I have no doubt that you will face whatever challenges come your way with honor and dignity.
06:32Remember, my friends, that I am here for you always.
06:36If you ever need my help or advice, do not hesitate to ask.
06:40I may be old and slow, but I have seen a lot in my lifetime,
06:45and I am always happy to share my wisdom with those who seek it.
06:49The animals thanked the wise old turtle for his guidance and support.
06:54They knew that he was right and that they could count on him no matter what.
06:59They left his home feeling inspired and ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
07:05And so the legend of the wise old turtle who was afraid of everything
07:10and nothing continued to be told throughout the forest.
07:14It was a reminder to all who heard it that wisdom and peace did not come from a lack of fear,
07:20but from the courage to face our fears and the strength to overcome them.
07:25For the animals of the forest, the wise old turtle became a symbol of hope
07:30and resilience in the face of adversity.
07:33His story gave them the strength to face their own fears
07:37and to never give up in the face of challenges.
07:40As the years passed, the wise old turtle continued to live in his peaceful home,
07:46content in the knowledge that he had helped others to find their own inner strength.
07:51He knew that his greatest legacy was not his age or his wisdom,
07:56but the courage he had inspired in others to face their fears and to strive for peace.
08:02And understanding, and so the tale of the wise.
08:06Come an elderly turtle who was afraid of everything and nothing reminds us.
08:12That wisdom is not the absence of fear, but the ability to face fear with honesty and courage.
08:19True strength does not come from avoiding our fears, but from facing them and learning from them.
08:24And that the greatest gift we can give others is the gift of hope and resilience.
08:30If you liked the story, please don't forget to leave a comment.
08:35Thanks for watching.
08:36See you next time.
