‘It needs to be looked at’: how much paternity leave should new dads get?

The UK government have announced plans to look into parental leave, so we’re asking people in Newport if they think new dads should be entitled to more paid leave.

00:09Paternity leave should be taken a lot more serious than just a couple of weeks. Having the

00:16father there for the first couple months is very very crucial to a child's development,

00:23so I do think that needs to be revisited and reassessed.

00:30I think initially, you know, but for a certain length of time. I don't think it should be

00:37for nine months or something like that, perhaps the first month of the child perhaps,

00:41or six weeks perhaps at the most, you know, but not any further than that, I don't think anyway.

00:47Of course, shouldn't it? Well, the wife, isn't it? Both of them are amazing. They're a long way ahead after that.

00:54I sleep once night, it's everything. Those things are, yeah, definitely.
