00:00Each year on his birthday since 2008, Ringo Starr has invited people everywhere to pause, to say, think or post peace and love as a collective moment of global unity.
00:13This heartfelt tradition is now recognised worldwide as a simple yet powerful gesture of kindness and hope.
00:18That's what he wants, wherever you are in the world, to spread that message of peace and love.
00:23And like you say, it's very important and it's no more important than it is today.
00:27So we've just got to keep that message going as much as we can.
00:31And that's what we're here to do.
00:33At the Beatles' story here in Liverpool, fans and visitors have been invited to take part in the initiative.
00:39Attendees have gathered outside the museum entrance at the Royal Albert Dock and together a special peace and love moment has been filmed to be shared on Ringo's official Facebook page as part of the international celebration.
00:51We've wanted to do this for a long time.
00:54We've been out there trying to get people to come down, but yeah, a great, great bunch of people today.
01:00We've got a cruise ship today as well, so great timing from them.
01:04So for us, yeah, amazing day.
01:07In honour of this milestone birthday and Ringo's lifelong advocacy for peace, the Beatles' story is also unveiling a Ringo Starr piece and love sculpture, a lasting tribute to his message.
01:18The piece created using an original casting of Ringo's right hand symbolically and quite literally shows that Ringo had a hand in spreading peace.
01:28The music obviously brings a lot of people together, heard us all singing there, the children doing the lovely actions to Yellow Submarine.
01:36The music of the Beatles is just amazing and brings many cultures together.
01:40So for us, that's what we do, we celebrate that every single day, but these days are really, really special.
01:48Each piece is handcrafted by Seasons Artisans blending artistic craftsmanship with heartfelt meaning to create this emblem.
01:54This limited edition sculpture is part of an exclusive initiative by the Ringo Starr organisation with a select number made available to institutions and cultural spaces around the globe.
02:06The visitor attraction hopes that the inclusion of this in its exhibition will offer visitors a moment of reflection and a tangible connection to Ringo's personal message here in the city where his story began.
02:19The statue has been on display outside the venue, offering attendees a chance to view up close as part of these celebrations.
02:27After this event, it's moving inside to become a permanent piece of the story.
02:34Yeah, we've created a lovely piece of love garden and we've got this on loan for a two-year period and a lovely guy in the States has loaned us this item.
02:44So for us, we brought it in on a ship.
02:46We're going to showcase it for the next two years and hopefully get to keep it because this is where it definitely was.
02:52It's the first one in the UK.
02:54There's not been one in the UK.
02:55They've got them in the States and stuff like that.
