00:00My name is Dr. Chigo Ziedimba. I am the CEO of Polaris Integrated and Geosolution,
00:05a site characterization company and an EPC company that is shaping how engineering construction
00:12activities are done in the Nigel Delta and Sub-Saharan. We are happy to be here in the
00:20Nigerian Oil and Gas Conference and we are exhibiting. The conversation around is how
00:25to accelerate investments, innovation and operational efficiency. And there is no better space
00:32to have this conversation than in a space like this, especially in a fast-changing energy
00:38environment. Conversations and the gap between investments, policies, plans, strategies and
00:48operational realizations of this is the gap we are having in the industry. And in a conference
00:53like this, we have all the governments, the regulators and the regulated, the marginal
00:58fuels, the international oil companies, everybody come together, bring up ideas and brainstorm
01:04on how to move forward and sustain the energy challenges we are having. For us, we are bringing
01:10a lot in the geotechnical and site characterization. We have been able to put in new technologies
01:17and bringing new technologies to support site characterization to mitigate projects' risk in the country.
01:24And you can see right beside me, we are also pioneering the laser scanners to describe or change how 3D
01:32and 2D realities are captured in the digital space. We are excited to be here and we are supporting the
01:40decisions that this team is bringing. So one of the major problems we are having or the low points
01:47we are having is finding the right people to do the job. And they are the right people to do these jobs
01:52to support activities in the energy industry. But we need to start learning how to pay people right
01:58and how to price right on the businesses and the various technological that we are bringing. Technology can be cheaper
02:05in the long run, but initially it has to be rightly paid. And the people that are doing these jobs, I mean the
02:12technical people, the hand-skilled people, need to be paid rightly. So you find a lot of Nigerians working in
02:18UAE, in the Middle East, in Mexico, in Europe, but you can't find those people working for us in Nigeria because
02:26we are not paying them right. So we need to find a way where maybe the local content will come in and ensure that it's not
02:34all about the lowest bidder, but about the right bidders that get the job. And follow up on companies to ensure
02:42that they pay their staff right. So once you pay your staff right, you will be forced to get the right skill set to do the job
02:49and I will assure you that we all will be fine. For me, the low point is the gap between policies and
02:55realisation of the policies through plan and strategy. Another low point is the issue of financing and paying rights.
03:05So you find that people going to do the job and they are not able to afford the right skill set to do this business.
