00:11if he doesn't receive the Nobel Peace Prize.

00:14Posts like this, OnX and other social media platforms

00:17suggest that Trump said he brought peace in the Israel-Iran War

00:20by blowing things up, and that he can do the same in Norway

00:24to secure the prestigious award.

00:26The claims are sometimes shared with pictures of Trump

00:28or even footage of various explosions.

00:31Nevertheless, a Google search for any trace of Trump

00:34ever making such remarks yields very few results.

00:37The closest thing we get is an article published on 26 June

00:40by The Borowitz Report, which carries the headline

00:43that Trump has warned he'll attack Norway

00:45if he doesn't get the Nobel Peace Prize.

00:47However, the website's About page says that it's a satirical news site

00:51created by Andy Borowitz, a writer and comedian.

00:54It reads that Chinese media once believed a satirical story

00:58that Borowitz published about Trump wrapping the White House's phones in tin foil.

01:03The US President has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize before

01:06and has repeatedly made the case that he deserves it.

01:09However, he's never won it.

01:11Recently, Pakistan put Trump forward to receive the award

01:14for what it said was his role in resolving Islamabad's conflict with India.

01:18Meanwhile, Republican politician Buddy Carter did the same for Trump's role

01:22in bringing about a ceasefire between Israel and Iran.

01:25A Ukrainian politician meanwhile withdrew his nomination for Trump

01:29because he said he'd lost any sort of faith and belief

01:32in the President's ability to secure a ceasefire between Kyiv and Moscow.

01:36The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded by the Norwegian Nobel Committee,

01:39which is typically made up of five members appointed by the Norwegian Parliament.

01:43Swedish chemist Alfred Nobel said in his will

01:46that the annual Peace Prize should go to the person

01:48who's done the most for fraternity between nations

01:51and the abolition of standing armies.
