More than 750 migrants intercepted south of Greek island of Gavdos

Greece's national coast guard say they've conducted multiple successful operations where hundreds of illegal migrants were intercepted and safely transported to shore.

00:00The Greek islands of Gavdos and Crete continue to be under pressure from the massive flows of illegal migrants.
00:09According to Greek authorities, more than 750 migrants were intercepted in the sea area south of Gavdos
00:17in operations under the supervision of the Joint Coordination Centre for Search and Rescue.
00:23The largest operation was recorded off the southeast of Gavdos where 430 people on board an overloaded fishing vessel
00:32were recovered with the cooperation of a Coast Guard patrol boat and a tanker flying the flag of Panama.
00:40Local officials described the situation on the island of Crete as suffocating
00:45as thousands of illegal migrants continue to pour in on the island.
00:50More than 8,000 illegal migrants have been reported this year according to official records,
00:56an increase of over 250% compared to the same period last year.
