00:00Hey everyone, welcome back to my channel.
00:03Today, I've got a super helpful guide for you.
00:06How to use your smartphone or tablet as a second monitor for your Windows PC.
00:10No need to buy another screen.
00:12Whether you're working from home, managing multiple tasks, or editing videos,
00:16having a second screen can make a huge difference.
00:20And the best part?
00:21You can do it wirelessly.
00:23This method works on both Windows PCs and Android or iOS devices.
00:27And the best part is, it's free.
00:30Let's dive right in.
00:31So why would you even want a second monitor?
00:33Think about this.
00:35When you're editing documents and want reference material open on the side,
00:38or live streaming, and need to monitor chat, a second screen is a game changer.
00:43Even simple tasks like responding to emails while watching a video become so much easier.
00:48And instead of spending money on another monitor,
00:50your old tablet or spare phone can do the job.
00:53Thanks to these apps.
00:54Alright, let's begin with Space Desk,
00:57one of the most popular and reliable apps for turning your phone or tablet into a wireless second monitor.
01:03It's completely free, works on both Android and iOS devices,
01:07and supports extended displays,
01:09meaning you can actually move Windows and apps over to your phone or tablet just like a real second screen,
01:15not just mirroring what's already on your PC.
01:17Let's start with setting it up.
01:20Open your browser and head over to Spacedesk.net.
01:28Now, let's download the Space Desk driver from their official website.
01:31This is where you select the driver for your Windows PC,
01:38the primary machine that'll host your extended display.
01:41If you're on Windows 10 or 11, this is the one you need.
01:45Viewer Available 4
01:46This lists all the devices that can act as secondary screens.
01:50Notice, it supports Android, iOS, even web browsers,
01:54so your phone, tablet, or even another laptop can connect.
01:58Alright, let's get started.
02:00Under Driver Available 4, click Windows 10 slash 11.
02:04This is the version most of you will need for modern PCs.
02:08Now we see all the download options.
02:11Don't worry, I'll help you pick the right one.
02:13First up, Windows 64-bit.
02:16This is the go-to choice if you're running Windows 10 or 11 on a standard laptop or desktop.
02:22Not sure whether your PC is 64-bit?
02:25Here's a quick way to check.
02:26Right-click on the This PC icon.
02:29Select Properties.
02:32Under Device Specifications, look for System Type.
02:36It will say 64-bit Operating System or 32-bit Operating System.
02:41If it says 64-bit Operating System x64 Base Processor,
02:46you're good to go with the 64-bit version.
02:50ARM64
02:51Only needed if you have an ARM-based PC, like a Surface Pro X.
02:55Most Intel or AMD users can ignore this.
02:5932-bit
03:00For older machines, still running 32-bit Windows.
03:04If your PC was made in the last decade, you likely don't need this.
03:08I'm downloading the 64-bit version now.
03:20Once it downloads, run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
03:24This is where we'll get everything set up properly.
03:32First, click Next to begin the installation.
03:35You'll see the license agreement now.
03:37Just click I Agree to continue.
03:39Here it shows where Spacedesk will install.
03:45The default location is perfect, so we'll just click Next again.
03:49Spacedesk needs to communicate through your firewall so your devices can connect.
03:54Just leave this box checked to allow Windows to automatically add the exception.
03:59That's the easiest way.
04:00If you run into connection issues later, we can always adjust firewall settings manually.
04:05Hit Next to continue.
04:07Click Install and Windows might ask for permission.
04:11Just say Yes.
04:13Watch the progress bar.
04:14This usually takes less than 30 seconds.
04:17While we wait, remember that Spacedesk is installing a virtual display driver,
04:22which is why it needs these permissions.
04:25Done.
04:25The wizard shows it completed successfully.
04:28Just click Finish to launch it.
04:30And there it is.
04:31You'll see the Spacedesk icon in your system tray.
04:33Spacedesk is now running in the background exactly how we need it.
04:38Now just click on the Spacedesk icon in the system tray.
04:41And there it is.
04:44The dashboard.
04:45The PC setup is 100% complete.
04:48No extra tweaks required.
04:50The default settings work perfectly for most users, so we'll jump straight to the mobile setup.
04:55That's where the magic happens.
04:57Next, grab your phone or tablet.
05:00Go to the Play Store if you're on Android,
05:02or the App Store if you're using an iPhone or iPad.
05:05Search for Spacedesk.
05:14And install the app developed by DetronicSoft.
05:18Open the Spacedesk app on your smartphone or tablet.
05:22Your Windows PC must have the Spacedesk driver we just installed.
05:26If you skip the PC setup, grab it from Spacedesk.net.
05:30Since we already set up the PC side, we'll just click OK and move to the fun part.
05:35Now let's find your PC.
05:37If your phone can't find your PC, make sure this discovery box is checked.
05:42It lets Spacedesk scan for your computer on the network.
05:45If it's unchecked, your devices won't connect.
05:48Here it will show your computer's name or IP address.
05:51Just tap it.
05:53And within seconds, your phone or tablet will start showing your Windows desktop.
05:57Watch this.
05:59Your devices are now on Workspace.
06:01Let's drag a window from my PC.
06:04Now I can watch tutorials while working on my main screen.
06:12Whether you're setting up a new system or fixing your current one,
06:16this tutorial has got you covered.
06:18First, we need the Windows ISO file.
06:21Before we start, let's quickly understand what a Windows ISO file is.
06:25Did you know you can hear your PC's audio through your phone?
06:45Here's how.
06:46Tap this three-line menu to reveal hidden controls.
06:49Tick audio to pipe all PC sounds to your phone.
06:52Ideal for headphones or private listening.
06:55Now your meetings, games, or music play through your phone's speakers.
07:00When you're done using your phone or tablet as a second screen,
07:03just tap Disconnect in the app, and that's it.
07:07Your main display will return to normal,
07:09and you can reconnect anytime when you need that extra screen space again.
07:13Here's something important.
07:14Your PC and your mobile device must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
07:20This is how Space Desk allows the devices to communicate.
07:23If you're on different networks or mobile data, the app won't find your PC.
07:28If it doesn't appear, you can also enter your PC's IP address manually.
07:33You'll find this in the Space Desk Driver Console dashboard under Communication Interfaces.
07:37If your screen starts to stutter or lag while using Wi-Fi,
07:45want a more stable connection than Wi-Fi?
07:48Let's set up USB mode.
07:50Here's how.
07:50On your Android device, go to Settings.
07:53In my case, I scroll down to System Settings.
07:58And then scroll once again to find developer options.
08:02Once you're in, scroll down and just enable USB debugging.
08:06Click OK.
08:12If you don't see developer options, just go to Settings.
08:16About phone or about device.
08:24Under Version.
08:25Tap Build number seven times, and it will appear.
08:28Use a USB cable to connect your phone to the PC.
08:38On your phone, choose File Transfer or MTP mode when prompted.
08:43Some phones need this to grant Space Desk full access through USB.
08:47And you'll see a pop-up that says Allow USB Debugging.
08:50Just tap OK to continue.
08:52Now, go to your PC and right-click the Space Desk icon in the System Tray.
08:57Open the Space Desk Driver console.
09:02Under Communication Interfaces.
09:05Untick Local Area Network.
09:12And tick USB Cable Android.
09:14Wait a few seconds.
09:18And you'll see a pop-up that says Allow USB Debugging.
09:22Just tap OK to continue.
09:24You can also tick Always Allow from this computer
09:27if you don't want to see this prompt every time you connect.
09:30Your phone is now acting as a second monitor, lag-free and smooth.
09:35And as you can see, I can grab this window up here
09:38and bring it down onto my second screen, my phone.
09:41Now that your phone is connected,
09:46let's tweak the display for the best experience.
09:49Right-click your desktop and select Display Settings.
09:54Drag the phone screen, usually labeled 2,
09:57to match its physical position relative to your PC.
10:01If your phone is on the right of your laptop or PC monitor,
10:04drag Display 2 to the right side.
10:07For phone below PC, drag Display 2 below Display 1.
10:11Tap Apply to save.
10:16This ensures your mouse moves naturally between screens.
10:19And that's how you can easily turn your phone or tablet
10:22into a second screen using Space Desk.
10:24It's fast, free, and works beautifully over Wi-Fi or USB.
10:29Now, let's take a look at Glidex,
10:47a smart alternative that works across Android, iOS, and Windows,
10:52and even lets you control your mobile device with your PC's mouse and keyboard.
