Developing nations should no longer be considered as marginal players in the global system as the Global South has risen to possess its own strength in technology, trade, leadership and world morals, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

00:07said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the BRICS Business Forum on Saturday.
00:12He said the global south has emerged with its own strengths in technology,
00:19trade, leadership and global values, making it a force to be reckoned with.
00:24Anwar added that BRICS has evolved beyond political rhetoric
00:27into a genuine coalition of political power, economic influence and civil society,
00:32united in the pursuit of a more fair and just global system.
00:35As ASEAN Chair, he said Malaysia shares this aspiration.
00:39He emphasized Southeast Asia's commitment to multilateralism,
00:42the strengthening of intra-ASEAN trade and the promotion of local currencies in cross-border transactions,
00:48a move towards a more stable and independent financial system.
00:51The Prime Minister also called for stronger strategic cooperation between BRICS and ASEAN,
00:55particularly in enhancing trade and investment with other developing nations.
00:59He urged bold reforms in major global institutions, including the United Nations,
01:04International Monetary Fund, World Bank and World Trade Organization,
01:08so they reflect current realities and the needs of the developing world.
01:11Looking ahead, he said the BRICS 2025 summit must not merely continue past initiatives,
01:17but serve as a launchpad for transformative change.
