TRANSFORMING a standard truck into an off road monster has been a passion project for one man and his team of genius engineers. Gregg Higgs is owner of Fab Fours, a car accessory manufacturer that has become known as the company behind some truly inventive custom car designs. Gregg and his team have now transformed a 2015 Chevy Colorado truck into a 4x4 beast named Kymera, that might just be the wackiest design from the team yet. Gregg told Ridiculous Rides: “The whole point of Kymera is just to be over-the-top absurd. There's mild, wild, and then Kymera. It's just out of control.”

00:36The whole point of this is just to be over-the-top absurd.

00:41Chimera started life as a 2015 Chevy Colorado and has been transformed into a trail-crushing

00:49off-road monster, complete with military-grade axles.

00:54Mild, wild, and then Chimera.

00:58This truck was just sitting in the plant.

01:00I happened to also have some huge tires, and one day I just rolled them by it, and there

01:05was no turning back.

01:06That was the beginning of this incredible conversion.

01:11And at the heart of Chimera is a 650 horsepower, 5.9-litre Cummins diesel engine, making this

01:18a vehicle you won't want to find yourself stuck behind on the road.

01:24Tool efficiency?

01:25Forget about it.

01:26Fitted with a 12,000-pound winch, front and rear steering, and huge Fox shocks, this beast

01:34is happiest on the most challenging terrain.

01:37It's just out of control.

01:39You've got rock crawling, desert bashing, kind of all the genres of off-road and truck mashed

01:47into one.

01:48You can just dump diesel, ignition and air, and let this thing eat.

01:52If you're ready to feel it and smell it, you know you're driving Chimera.

01:59When both turbos are engaged, it puts you back in your seat.

02:00And at that point, I am two hands every time on the steering wheel, or she will get away

02:15Top speed for this thing, honestly, you're looking at about 45, 50 miles an hour.

02:25Probably could do 70, 80, but it'd be like the spruce goose in that thing, feeling like

02:28you're going to come unglued.

02:29And it is fun to just let it rip.

02:32As soon as you get off onto the trail, different animal altogether.

02:45As long as you're going five, seven miles an hour, perfect.

02:51Super comfortable off-road, all the traction you need, and that's where Chimera shines.

02:57But this thing, when it's coming through the woods, people are going to be smiling ear

03:02to ear, and it just looks like a movie star.

03:05This thing's out of control.

03:09Four-wheel drive, trails, Chimera takes all of that experience to the extreme.

03:18Being in it, you can't see a whole lot, you can't hear anything, and you're just really

03:23holding on, and pounding away, and trying not to get beat up on the cage and everything.

03:30Because that 12-valve is just rattling your bones right behind the seat.

03:38You can really just point and shoot, and let it bounce over everything.

03:42The low top kind of gives it that sinister feel.

03:45This thing looks like it's angry and moving fast just sitting still.

03:49All right, it would not be a day of wheeling if you did not have to bust out your tool bag

03:55at least once.

03:57While we're pushing the limits of a 9,000-pound truck, crazy power.
