00:00We struggle because we will never see her again and so I tell you remember Dorothy in your hearts
00:12and learn from me for I am gentle and humble in hearts and you will find rest for your soul.
00:25This might seem weird but the last thing I suspected was that my mother's passing was going to be the one thing to reunite us.
00:32Words, I understand. Words cannot express our feelings at this moment and yet let us say something kind.
00:41Perhaps we can start with Dorothy's daughter?
00:47No, not really.
00:50Yes, sometimes the grief is so strong in our hearts.
00:58If I wasn't sad at my own mother's funeral, it's not because I'm heartless.
01:02We were just never close. She was never present as a mother.
01:07When I was little, she would be cold. She would never show any love or affection.
01:15It felt like she never wanted me around.
01:20What I remember most from when I was a kid was being lonely.
01:24We would never go anywhere. I wouldn't have any friends.
01:28Whatever it was I enjoyed, she would be against it or she would take away from me.
01:33I was so lonely that I didn't even feel like I had a mother.
01:37It took me a long time to get over how sad and empty my childhood left me feeling.
01:44But what I never expected was how my mom would make up for it.
01:54Ah, Miss Forsythe. Welcome. Please, come in. Take a seat, please.
02:02Please, call me Amanda.
02:11Of course. As you wish.
02:15So, we're here today to execute the last will and testament of your mother.
02:20Now, the will clearly states that you, as her only child, shall receive the entire inheritance, all of her earthly possessions, and the sum of approximately $2 million.
02:35She had $2 million?
02:39Yes. But there is one condition, however.
02:45What condition?
02:47You see, shortly before your mother's passing, she amended her will with an additional clause.
02:53Your receiving this inheritance is dependent upon whether you comply with this clause.
02:58Of course she did.
03:01Pardon me?
03:03Nothing.
03:05My whole life, she's been forcing me to do things her way.
03:10And she couldn't even help herself, even after she's dead.
03:19Well, the amendment states as following.
03:23In order for my daughter, Amanda Forsythe, to receive her inheritance, she needs to fulfill the attached bucket list.
03:32There you are.
03:37I've not had time to complete this bucket list during my lifetime.
03:41And so, it's my wish that she should complete it.
03:46Her completion of this bucket list will be accountable to my executor.
03:50If Amanda does not fulfill the bucket list by the end of the year, the entire inheritance shall be given to charity.
03:58I take it you understand all of these terms?
04:01Oh, yeah. Clearly.
04:03Thank you for coming, Ms. Forsythe.
04:05Amanda.
04:07Let me know if you have any further questions.
04:10Sailing the ocean.
04:25Well, that's one more thing off the bucket list.
04:29What?
04:39No!
04:40No.
04:41No.
04:42No.
04:43No, not the list.
04:48Man, or woman overboard!

08:17and now in your final days you think that being close to me is going to make things right
08:24but amanda you're my only child and i really want to make things right
08:32you know i don't think we can patch up things
08:36it would be wrong to pretend that we can
08:39i can't lie to you before your passing just to give you some false joy
08:45i'd have to live with that lie
08:49even if we gave it a shot and that wouldn't work
08:52that would make things like million times worse
08:55listen i don't want to fight with you when you're sick
08:59but i don't want to pretend that we're okay when we're not
09:02but amanda

09:42now why did she leave that for you
09:47essentially it was in her will
09:51and i kind of have to do it
09:58i couldn't make up with her so
10:02if she wants me to do that bucket list of hers

12:17out of freezing water again or he'd carry you not that you're not independent and just I mean
12:24I thought you might appreciate some looking after kind of sound like my grandpa now I guess that's a
12:32little fashioned huh oh I appreciated you know when I was a little girl I always begged my mom
12:40to take me camping but she never did take me we never went anywhere she said camping was a waste
12:47of time and that it was boring I wanted to do so much though going outside being surrounded by nature
12:55and then I never went by myself I don't want to go alone so I'm glad you're here so do you want me
13:07to do the rest of that bucket list with you yeah I do okay

13:44saw this back home hmm what do you think you're being cheesy or romantic well it's definitely cheesy
13:55but I don't think that's a bad thing I mean look at that mom and a little girl they're enjoying it
14:02I guess those locks for all sorts of love that girl is so fortunate to have a mom that loves her
14:11and spends time with her and gives her hugs I remember when I was little I would dream about
14:17traveling and spending time with my mom going to Europe seems so romantic but my mom was only
14:25interested in her work so she would have never ever have made any time for me
14:32I'm happy to be here now with someone who wants to be here with me
14:38listen I shouldn't have pointed them out I didn't know it would make you sad I'm sorry

17:24my dearest Amanda I know I wasn't there for you when you needed me
17:39I never supported your dreams and your passions I was a cold and insensitive mother
17:46if I could redo everything I would
17:50I waited much too long to apologize though I hope I want to believe it's never too late to say sorry
18:00I remember how much you wanted to go camping and to draw and do lots of things when you were little
18:07but I never supported you I should have realized how much these things meant to you and how happy
18:15they made you I arranged this bucket list full of things you loved to show you that I didn't forget
18:22maybe it's my way to do them with you at last please take it as the best apology this old fool can piece together
18:30I love you Amanda with all my heart your mom
18:37well mom that's it we did the bucket list most of it I did with Orlando he's
19:07The whole list was amazing.
19:10And I'm so thankful for it.
19:14I can't believe how well you knew me.
19:17I always thought you knew nothing about me.
19:20But the places on the list, the things to do...
19:24You knew what I loved after all.
19:29I guess you were right.
19:31It's never too late to say sorry.
19:34You managed to tell me that.
19:39Even though you're not here anymore.
19:42And now it's my turn to say that I'm sorry.
19:45I'm sorry I didn't come to see you before you passed away.
19:49I just had a lot of pain.
19:51A lot of feelings bottled up.
19:54And things I didn't want to deal with.
19:57But now I'm dealing with it.
19:59I'm learning how to let go of the pain.
20:04I guess what I'm trying to say is that...
20:06I love you mom.
20:07I really do.
20:10And I hope you don't mind.
20:11But I need to do something before it's too late.
