00:00I mean, one thing that's really difficult to understand not being in Israel, and perhaps you can help us here, Gershon, is, you know, the humanitarian situation in Gaza is unquestionably horrendous.
00:10We've spoken to doctors, we've spoken to aid workers, we see the pictures for ourselves, we see the emaciated children, there's talk of famine-like conditions, there's now a massive shortage of clean water and a heat wave making life even more unbearable.
00:24And yet, when we put all of that to some people in the Israeli political class, they'll tell us it's all lies, it's all Hamas propaganda.
00:34I mean, don't they get the same TV coverage as the rest of the world?
00:39Absolutely not. You're getting 100% more coverage of the reality in Gaza than the people of Israel get.
00:45Our television stations don't show the humanitarian disaster in Gaza. We don't see any of it.
00:49There's only one newspaper in Israel, Haaretz, which covers it, but it doesn't go into the graphic details that you see on the television.
00:57The Israeli public sees the physical damage in Gaza, but not the humanitarian suffering.
01:02The Israeli people don't know it, and they don't recognize it, and they don't believe it, because they're not seeing it with their own eyes.
01:07This is one of the consequences of Israel preventing international journalists into Gaza for the last 20 months, 21 months.
01:16And the world is surprisingly silent about that, the fact that there's no objective coverage of what's going on in Gaza.
01:24In every other war situation in the world, there are reporters on the ground.
01:28The only reporters we have are the Israeli ones who go in with the army, and then they only show us what the army wants us to see or what the government wants us to see.
01:36I mean, you're making it sound like, you know, the whole world is being spun a yarn here, and that there's a huge propaganda machine being used by the Israelis.
01:49That's what it sounds like.
01:50Well, I think that the Israeli public is not being exposed to the reality in Gaza.
01:55Look, the state of Israel has committed war crimes in Gaza over the last 21 months.
01:59Do you think the Israeli public knows that or acknowledges it or is willing to listen to that?
02:06The whole world knows it. The whole world sees it.
02:09The Israelis reject it and simply call it anti-Semitism.
02:12This is the way they push it off the table and delegitimize any kind of criticism of Israel.
02:17It's labeled anti-Semitism, and then it's not dealt with in the Israeli media or the Israeli public.
02:23Of course, the public has to know that something's going on.
02:26The doctor and a family of the Indonesian hospital was just killed by Israel.
02:32How can we not know what's going on?
02:34This has been reported, at least by the Haaretz newspaper, if not by other journalists in Israel.
02:40People have to know that something is wrong, that there are 2 million people who have lost their homes in Gaza.
02:45This is not a normal situation that any public should agree to, to accept what its government is doing, what its army is doing.
02:54But we have this situation where, because our army is really a people's army, it's ourselves, it's our sons, it's our daughters, it's our brothers and sisters and uncles and aunts.
03:04We call them heroes.
03:06And we have a very difficult time of recognizing the reality of what the Israeli army has done and is doing on a daily basis in Gaza.
