00:00Exposing the hidden meaning in July 4th. It's not just fireworks in the U.S., today we dive into two
00:06powerful stories of liberation from the Philippines and Rwanda. Let's see how freedom takes on new
00:13meaning across continents. Let's start with the Philippines. On July 4th, 1946, the U.S. officially
00:20recognized Philippine independence, ending nearly 50 years of colonial rule. It was a major diplomatic
00:26milestone. Today it's known as Philippine Republic Day or Filipino-American Friendship Day, marking
00:32both sovereignty and international partnership. These days, it's celebrated quietly by embassies,
00:38but Filipino-American communities in the U.S. keep the spirit alive with parades and cultural events.
00:43Now, over in Rwanda, July 4th marks Liberation Day, the end of the horrific 1994 genocide.
00:50When the Rwandan Patriotic Army seized Kigali, it didn't just stop the violence,
00:55it sparked a national rebirth. Modern Rwanda honors this with emotional ceremonies,
01:02survivor stories, and a focus on unity and rebuilding. Two countries, one date, and a powerful
01:08reminder, freedom isn't one size fits all. Sometimes it's about partnership, sometimes about survival and hope.
