00:00It has been just a few days since global billionaire and Tesla CEO Elon Musk was a
00:09personal guest of President Donald Trump. They shared a lavish dinner at Mar-a-Lago's royal
00:14dining table, discussing everything from politics and economics to family matters.
00:20Once, Musk was a key figure in Trump's government spending reduction campaign,
00:24a trusted and capable envoy. He served as a top advisor to Trump for almost four months.
00:31Yet, suddenly, the dynamics of their relationship changed. Their close friendship has turned into
00:37an open conflict, sparked by Trump's big, beautiful bill. Trump claims this bill will
00:43foster national self-reliance through tax and spending cuts and increased military expenditure.
00:49In contrast, Musk argues that the bill will saddle the economy with new debt.
00:54Musk not only criticized it, but also threatened senators, stating that if the bill passed,
01:00he would form a new political party, the American party, the very next day.
01:05In essence, his friend Musk has become a major adversary. Trump, of course, didn't hold back.
01:12He retorted,
01:13Elon Musk is the most subsidized businessman in history. His entire business is built on
01:19taxpayers' money. If the subsidies stop, he won't be packing up for a Tesla factory,
01:24but for South Africa. This clash between friendship and enmity has heated up U.S. politics.
01:31Amidst these debates, on Tuesday, July 1st, during a conversation with journalists,
01:37Trump hinted at expelling Musk from the United States. He said,
01:41Musk might have to go back to his own country. This threat immediately sparked discussion about
01:46Musk's U.S. citizenship. Is it actually possible to deport Musk? Although Elon Musk was born in South
01:53Africa, he has been a U.S. citizen since 2002. He moved to Canada at 17 for studies and later earned
02:01degrees in economics and physics from the University of Pennsylvania in the U.S. He received permission
02:07to stay in the U.S. on various visa categories and subsequently obtained U.S. citizenship according to law.
02:13Legal experts state that it is almost impossible to deport a lawful U.S. citizen. Such incidents are
02:20extremely rare in U.S. history, typically occurring only in cases of war criminals or individuals who
02:28obtained citizenship through fraud. However, there is no evidence of criminal activity or fraud in Musk's
02:35citizenship application. Therefore, Trump's threat is being widely seen as political rhetoric.
02:40The origin of this dispute between Trump and Musk dates back to May, after Musk resigned from the
02:46Department of Government Efficiency. Following this, Musk made several explosive remarks against
02:52Trump on social media, even accusing him of connections with controversial financier Jeffrey Epstein.
