The Education Ministry and the Education Service Commission have introduced reforms to prevent future teacher shortages, said Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek.
Speaking at the Institute of Teacher Education Malaysia (IPGM) convocation ceremony on Wednesday (July 3), Fadhlina said applications to the institute have been rising annually, reflecting strong public interest in the teaching profession.
She added that entry pathways into IPGM have been expanded to include graduates of the Sijil Pelajaran Tinggi Malaysia (STPM), Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM), and Tahfiz Ulul Albab (TMUA) programmes, in line with the ministry’s aim to attract high-potential candidates from diverse academic backgrounds.
