00:00Welcome to the Dream Novel channel before starting to listen to the fun in this clip.
00:13Don't forget to like and comment. So that the admin will have the encouragement to continue
00:19making clips. Let's go listen. Channel Dream Novel. Chapter 181, Debut Match,
00:27the game ended before there was time to hold back, that was incredible. I can't believe Harry
00:33Potter actually caught the golden snitch with his mouth. Potter really is an excellent seeker.
00:39I thought Gryffindor was done for when his broom broke. I'm certain Gryffindor is going to win the
00:44Quidditch Cup this year. Everyone in the castle was buzzing with excitement, talking non-stop about
00:50the dramatic events of the match. Kyle made his way through the crowd without a word,
00:55finally slipping back to the Hufflepuff common room, where he found Cedric and Kanna waiting.
01:01As soon as they saw him, Cedric couldn't hold back. What on earth happened? Why are you just
01:07getting back now? And what was that about a phoenix? The phoenix belongs to Professor Dumbledore,
01:14it's, well, sort of his pet, Kyle explained. But it mostly stays in the headmaster's office,
01:20so you rarely get to see it. Kanna thought about this for a moment. So the headmaster was the one
01:27looking for you earlier? Yes. Kyle glanced around to ensure no one else was listening,
01:34then lowered his voice and told them what had happened in the restricted area.
01:38The three-headed dog went completely berserk. Cedric blurted out in surprise, then clamped a hand over
01:45his mouth, realizing he'd spoken too loudly. Are you serious? Of course, Kyle replied. Do you think
01:53I'd have just left the match and not come back until now? But who would do something like that?
01:59Cedric asked, frowning. Using a confundus charm and dark magic on a three-headed dog,
02:06what good would that do? I don't know. Kyle shook his head. Professor Dumbledore hasn't had time to
02:13investigate yet. Despite his words, Kyle's thoughts turned to Quirrell. The restricted area, Fluffy,
02:21the guard of the Philosopher's Stone. This all pointed to Quirrell, but Kyle couldn't piece together
02:27the man's goal. If Quirrell wanted to get past the trapdoor, angering Fluffy seemed like a pointless
02:33move, it would only make things more difficult. And if Fluffy escaped, Hogwarts could be forced to
02:39close, ruining any chance Quirrell would have of getting to the Philosopher's Stone. I just can't
02:45figure it out. Anyway, it's best if we steer clear of the restricted area for a while, Cedric suggested,
02:52a shiver running through him as he imagined the three-headed dog. If we need to go to the fourth
02:57floor, we should avoid that part as much as possible. There's no need to be that nervous,
03:03Kyle reassured them. Professor Dumbledore's handling it. Just be careful and stay away from there if you
03:10don't have to go. Hearing Kyle's words, Cedric and Kanna lost all interest in discussing Quidditch,
03:17and the three soon went their separate ways. It wasn't until Kyle had left that Cedric remembered
03:22something he hadn't asked. Why had the headmaster sent for Kyle and not Professor McGonagall when
03:28something so dangerous was happening? Could it be because Kyle had worked with Mr. Scamander before
03:34and had some knowledge of a three-headed dog? Cedric looked up. But by then, Kyle was already gone,
03:41out of the common room, and Cedric had missed his chance to ask. For the next while, Kyle didn't
03:47return, not even for dinner. No one knew where he was, it was as if he'd vanished without a trace.
03:54It wasn't until the next afternoon, just before the game, that Cedric finally spotted him again
04:01in the changing rooms. Kyle was holding his broom and chatting with Harris. Very good, Kyle.
04:09Harris gave him a friendly pat on the shoulder, smiling as he said, I was starting to think you'd
04:14be too nervous to sleep, and I'd have to get you a pepper-up potion. After some encouraging words from
04:20Harris, the team checked their brooms and uniforms one last time before lining up for the start of
04:25the match. The stands were packed as usual, and as last year's champions, Hufflepuff's team was
04:31greeted with deafening cheers when they took to the pitch. Kyle noticed, however, that there were far
04:37fewer professors in the commentary box than the day before. Apart from Professors McGonagall and Snape,
04:43most of the seats were empty. Seems the professors have also heard about Fluffy, Kyle thought as he
04:49walked with the others to the center of the field. Madam Hooch delivered her usual pre-match pep talk
04:55before blowing her whistle. Fifteen broomsticks soared into the air. It's Kyle from Hufflepuff,
05:02he's the first to grab the quaffle. Lee Jordan shouted from the commentary box. He's a newcomer,
05:09only joining the team this year, and rumor has it he scored spectacularly in the selection match.
05:15I just don't know if he'll be able to. Oh, he passed the ball to the team captain, Harris.
05:22For some reason, Lee Jordan suddenly adopted a more serious tone. Murmurs of discontent floated up from
05:29the stands, the commentary, without any hint of his usual flattery, was not what the crowd wanted to hear.
05:35But Lee Jordan ignored them. After all, he had just spent the entire previous night,
05:41until dawn, under Professor McGonagall's strict supervision, copying out an entire book on proper
05:47Quidditch commentary. He had nearly collapsed in her office. It had only been one night, he had to
05:54rein it in a bit. As we all know, Hufflepuff's Harris is one of the best chasers, and his coordination
06:00with Kyle. Oh my goodness, am I really seeing this? It's a dual attack. Ravenclaw's keeper misjudged the
06:09block, and Kyle has the quaffle. Goal. Hufflepuff scores. Less than 10 seconds into the game,
06:18they've set a new record for fastest goal. The stands erupted with cheers as fans leaped to their
06:23feet, hands in the air. Well done. On the pitch, Harris flew over and gave Kyle a light slap on the
06:31back. Perfect teamwork, exclaimed Lee Jordan. Ravenclaw is in trouble. As if to prove his point,
06:40the rest of the game was soon dominated entirely by Kyle and Harris. Like two unstoppable scoring
06:46machines, they sent the quaffle through the goalposts time and again. Ravenclaw's beaters did their best to
06:53stop them, but Hufflepuff had anticipated every move, and the bludgers never even came close to
06:58Kyle or Harris. After just half an hour, the score had reached a ludicrous height. Hufflepuff, 170.
07:07Ravenclaw, 0. Even Lee Jordan began to feel a little dazed, and as he commented on Ravenclaw's
07:14performance, a note of sympathy crept into his voice. Poor Wiesner, he's as clueless as the keeper for
07:20the Chudley cannons. Let's hope he can hang on. It was at that moment that Kyle and Harris realized
07:27they might have taken things a bit too far. Harris gave the dazed Ravenclaw keeper a slightly apologetic
07:34look and offered a silent wink. Kyle nodded, understanding. They planned to ease up a bit
07:40and let Ravenclaw score a few points. But just then. Wait a minute, is that the golden snitch?
07:47A glint of gold flashed near the bottom of the pitch. Cedric and Cho both sped downward in unison,
07:55racing toward the ground at a breathtaking pace. But Cedric's broom was just a bit faster than Cho's,
08:01and he reached the bottom first. I've caught the snitch. He raised his arm high, a golden object
08:08glinting between his fingers. The game was over. Channel Dream Novel. Chapter 182, I shouldn't have
08:17told you this nothing at Hogwarts was easy, except for the Quidditch match, where Hufflepuff had swept
08:22Ravenclaw effortlessly. The moment Cedric captured the golden snitch, the Ravenclaw students in the
08:29stands were left utterly stunned. They sat there in silence, lost in their thoughts, unable to say a
08:35word. Professor Flitik had made an appearance during the game but had only stayed a few minutes
08:40before leaving with his arms crossed tightly over his chest. Less than half an hour later,
08:46the scoreboard read 320-0. Although Ravenclaw was used to finishing at the bottom in Quidditch year
08:52after year, such a drastic score was still hard for them to accept. That glaring, zero, on the board
08:59stone, just one goal would have made a difference. Why were you in such a rush, Cedric? Kyle whispered
09:07after they returned to the ground. We were going to win anyway, so there was no need to catch the
09:12golden snitch. I'm a seeker, Kyle, Cedric replied, shooting him a disgruntled look. My job is to keep an
09:20eye out for the golden snitch constantly. How could I focus on the score at the same time? And have you ever
09:27seen a game where the seeker just lets the snitch go? Giving up on it means giving up on honor,
09:33no seeker would ever do that. But you guys. Cedric's voice lowered as he grit his teeth.
09:40I took my eyes off the field for just a moment, and by then it was already 17-0. This score is absurd.
09:49Couldn't you have let up a little? What, are you guys not planning to go the charm class anymore?
09:54I didn't mean to either, Kyle said with a wry smile. It was just too easy, and before I knew it,
10:02the game was over. They exchanged a look and sighed in unison. In the days that followed,
10:08Ravenclaw's morale was at an all-time low. The friendly relationship they once shared with
10:14Hufflepuff had shifted dramatically. Although there were no outright conflicts, tension hung heavily
10:20between the two houses. Even when a Hufflepuff student occasionally tried to greet them,
10:25the Ravenclaws would turn away as if they hadn't heard. In this atmosphere, Kyle and Cedric found
10:31themselves actively avoiding Cho, too embarrassed to speak to her. But Cho herself didn't seem too
10:38bothered, and as the days went on, any hard feelings she might have had gradually faded.
10:42In her view, Hufflepuff had won fairly, and Ravenclaw's loss simply reflected their own lack
10:49of skill. After a transfiguration class, Cho spotted Kyle, who was just about to dash out
10:55of the room. She rolled her eyes with a sigh and called out, hey, Kyle. Uh. Kyle froze mid-step,
11:04turning stiffly as though he had only just noticed her. Oh, Cho. Ahem, I didn't realize you were here.
11:11Cho laughed at his awkward excuse, shook her head, and took a deep breath. I missed some notes in
11:18class, could I copy yours? Sure, of course. Kyle quickly pulled a black notebook from his bag
11:26and handed it to her. Take as long as you need, or you know, you could just keep it if you want.
11:33Thanks, Cho replied, taking the notebook. No problem, Kyle said, smiling sheepishly before hurrying off.
11:40After he left, Cho slipped the notebook behind her textbook. As a Ravenclaw, she hadn't really
11:48forgotten to take notes, she'd just made up an excuse to spare Kyle and Cedric from feeling awkward
11:53around her. Watching Kyle's obvious relief as he left, Cho rolled her eyes with a sigh.
12:00Honestly, silly boys. Kanna, who sat beside her, nodded in agreement. Across the great hall at lunchtime,
12:09Kyle recounted his encounter with Cho to Cedric. Once they finished eating, he left the castle and
12:15made his way toward the Forbidden Forest. Yesterday, Dumbledore had successfully healed Fluffy,
12:21the three-headed dog, and Kyle had visited the restricted area to check on him. The moment he
12:27entered, Fluffy bounded over, all three heads eagerly nuzzling into his arms, showing no signs of his
12:33recent ordeal with dark magic. The dog was carefree, as if nothing had happened, a likely benefit of not
12:40being particularly bright. Today, Kyle wanted to see how Hagrid was doing. While Fluffy was under
12:47treatment, Hagrid had faithfully guarded the entrance to the restricted area, barely eating and keeping
12:52everyone away. Each day, Kyle had brought him food, but it was always left untouched.
12:58Kyle figured that if Dumbledore had delayed much longer, Hagrid might have starved himself.
13:05When Kyle reached the hut, he saw Hagrid cooking something over the fire. Though he looked thinner,
13:11he seemed well. Kyle, you're here. Hagrid greeted him warmly.
13:17I just finished class and thought I'd stop by to check on you. Kyle smiled, then glanced toward the fire.
13:24Are you making lunch? He leaned over to peek inside the pot but instantly regretted it.
13:31Inside was a thick, strange-looking soup, a murky brown with hints of red and purple.
13:37Bubbles surfaced occasionally, and as he got closer, a strong, fishy odor wafted up.
13:43Hagrid, are you making potion? Kyle asked hesitantly.
13:47He had only ever seen liquids of this color and texture in Potion's class, or more specifically,
13:54in Michael's cauldron during his failed attempts.
13:57Potion?
13:58Not a chance, Hagrid replied, shaking his head.
14:03This here's for Fluffy.
14:05Got dragon's blood and dragon liver in it, all his favorites.
14:09Poor little thing must be shaken after all he's been through, so he needs some proper nourishment.
14:14Realizing it was for Fluffy, Kyle said nothing more.
14:19Judging by the tastes of the massive, three-headed creature, this failed potion, or rather, soup,
14:25was probably quite the feast.
14:28Hagrid gave the pot a few vigorous stirs, then brought out some rock cakes and tea,
14:33placing them in front of Kyle.
14:35Fluffy's all right now.
14:37Lithelier than ever.
14:39I couldn't be more grateful, Hagrid said, wiping away a tear.
14:43That poor little fella.
14:46If I ever find out who used dark magic on him, they'll regret it.
14:51As he spoke, Hagrid's grip on a rock cake tightened, crushing it in his hand.
14:56The larger crumbs fell into the pot, clinking against the side.
15:01Kyle laughed awkwardly.
15:03Only Hagrid would call a terrifying, ten-foot-tall, three-headed dog a little fella.
15:08Ignoring Hagrid's affectionate wording, Kyle asked,
15:12So, has Professor Dumbledore found out who's responsible?
15:16No, Hagrid replied with a sigh, but he will.
15:20There's nothing that happens at Hogwarts that Dumbledore doesn't find out about.
15:25Otherwise, he wouldn't have put the Philosopher's Stone in, oh, I shouldn't have said that.
15:30Channel Dream Novel
15:32Chapter 183, The Unique Abilities of Unicorns, Philosopher's Stone
15:37Kyle raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued.
15:42The one made by Mr. Nicholas Flamel.
15:45Hogwarts is hiding something like that here.
15:48Don't ask, Kyle.
15:50I'm not saying anything more.
15:53Hagrid's face turned serious.
15:54This is top secret, not something for young wizards like you to worry about.
16:00Top secret, huh?
16:02Kyle shrugged nonchalantly.
16:05In that case, I won't ask.
16:08Hagrid froze, taken aback by Kyle's easy compliance.
16:12He'd expected a round of relentless questioning, Harry had certainly pestered him long enough on the topic.
16:17They continued chatting for a while, and true to his word, Kyle didn't bring up the Philosopher's Stone again.
16:25This seemed to relax Hagrid, who let out a sigh and, almost without thinking, said,
16:30To be honest, I wish Harry could be a bit more like you.
16:34Potter?
16:35What about him?
16:37Nothing, nothing.
16:39Hagrid quickly shook his head.
16:41I just mean, he was here earlier.
16:44Well, that's a good thing, Hagrid, Kyle said with a grin.
16:49It means he cares about you too.
16:52Yeah.
16:53Hagrid nodded thoughtfully.
16:55It was nice to feel cared for, though he couldn't help but wish Harry's curiosity was a bit less intense,
17:01so that every visit didn't involve questions about Fluffy or the Philosopher's Stone.
17:06By the way, when did Potter come by?
17:09Kyle asked.
17:10About an hour ago, Hagrid replied after thinking for a moment.
17:15They only had one class this morning, so they came a bit early.
17:20They?
17:21Yeah, Harry, Hermione, and Ron, Hagrid said.
17:25The three of them have been spending a lot of time together lately.
17:29As he spoke, Hagrid stood up and stirred the pot with his spoon, then ladled up a bit to taste.
17:35Kyle felt his stomach churn at the thought, but he kept his discomfort in check.
17:40By the way, Hagrid, has anything strange been happening in the Forbidden Forest recently?
17:46Kyle asked.
17:48The Forbidden Forest?
17:50Hagrid looked thoughtful, spoon in hand.
17:53I don't know, honestly.
17:55I haven't been inside the forest for days, what with Fluffy needing my attention.
18:00Why do you ask?
18:02Oh, it just occurred to me, Kyle said casually.
18:06The person who used dark magic on Fluffy must have had a reason.
18:11But now that Professor Dumbledore is on alert, he probably won't try anything with Fluffy again.
18:16I was just wondering if he might shift his focus to the Forbidden Forest instead.
18:21You think he'd target the magical creatures in the forest?
18:25Hagrid's eyes widened, and he dropped the spoon with a loud clang.
18:30It's only a guess, Kyle replied, keeping his tone calm.
18:35But there are plenty of dangerous creatures in the Forbidden Forest, werewolves, acromantulas, unicorns.
18:42If someone provoked them, they could cause serious trouble if they ventured out of the forest and got too close to Hogwarts.
18:48Hagrid picked up the fallen spoon and paced back and forth, clearly concerned.
18:54Finally, he nodded with a determined look.
18:57You're right.
18:59I'd better go have a look in the Forbidden Forest soon.
19:03Be careful, Kyle warned.
19:05Whoever used dark magic on Fluffy must be powerful, possibly as strong as a professor.
19:10So just, make sure you're cautious in there.
19:15Don't worry, I'll be careful, Hagrid said, unconsciously patting his pink umbrella before walking over to the rack by the door.
19:22He took down a crossbow hanging there and gave it a couple of twirls.
19:27In the Forbidden Forest, this thing's often more useful than magic.
19:31But you're wrong about one thing, Kyle, Hagrid said with a smile as he returned the crossbow to the shelf.
19:38Unicorns aren't dangerous.
19:41They're pure, gentle magical creatures, and their attacks are simple.
19:46Even if they somehow went berserk, they couldn't do much harm.
19:50You just have to be careful to avoid the horn.
19:53That's not entirely true, Kyle countered.
19:56Don't forget Professor Kettleburn, he was only sent to St. Mungo's last summer after a unicorn horn pierced his stomach.
20:04Hagrid hesitated.
20:06He wanted to argue that Professor Kettleburn was a special case, after all, any reasonable person wouldn't try to hug an angry unicorn's head.
20:14According to Kettleburn, he'd only been attempting to calm the creature down.
20:19Hagrid never quite understood that logic.
20:21He wasn't sure if the unicorn was calmed, but Kettleburn was calm enough during treatment, he'd even fainted.
20:29And remember, a unicorn's threat isn't just from its horn, Kyle continued.
20:34Its blood is also deadly.
20:36If it somehow ended up in a crowded place and, say, exploded, it could splatter blood on people's faces.
20:44They wouldn't even need to drink it, just a touch to their lips would be enough.
20:49That curse is near impossible to break.
20:52Hagrid was left speechless once again.
20:55Unicorns exploding.
20:57It seemed even more unlikely than Kettleburn's unfortunate encounter.
21:01Think of Fluffy, Hagrid, Kyle added, his tone serious.
21:06Whoever hurt him was willing to harm a gentle creature like that, imagine what they'd do to a unicorn.
21:12Ah, yes, you're right.
21:15Hagrid's expression turned solemn, and he nodded thoughtfully.
21:19I'll keep a close eye on the unicorns.
21:22I know the spots where they like to gather.
21:25Kyle stayed a while longer, chatting with Hagrid, but soon he said his goodbyes and headed back to the castle.
21:31The strange smell from Hagrid's pot was getting stronger, and Kyle feared that if he stayed any longer, he'd lose the lunch he'd just eaten.
21:40The afternoon brought defense against the dark arts.
21:43As Professor Quirrell entered the classroom, everyone noticed a bandage on his arm.
21:49Professor, are you hurt?
21:50One student asked.
21:52Uh, a little injury, Quirrell stammered.
21:55At the Quidditch match, s-someone accidentally pushed me off the bleachers, and I broke my arm.
22:02But Professor, that was days ago, someone else pointed out.
22:07When I broke my arm during flying lessons, Madame Pomfrey healed it instantly.
22:12It's, d-different, Quirrell replied, blushing.
22:15I was cursed, by a vampire.
22:19Very hard to heal.
22:21But Professor, last time you said the vampire's curse just made you afraid of drafts, another student interjected.
22:28Ah, perhaps.
22:30I forgot to mention, additional symptoms, Quirrell mumbled, clearly uncomfortable, and quickly redirected the class to avoid further questioning.
22:39Today's lesson was on how to identify and deal with red caps, vicious creatures that look like goblins and lurk where blood has been shed.
22:47They haunt places like castle dungeons and battlefield trenches, lying in wait to ambush lost travelers.
22:54Lacking a red cap for demonstration, Professor Quirrell had substituted it for a large lizard.
23:00The lizard was somewhat of a veteran in defense against the dark arts classes.
23:04It had previously served as a hinkapunk and now seemed almost like an assistant professor.
23:10Imagine, imagine this is a red cap.
23:13Quirrell said, settling the lizard on his shoulder as he began to stammer through the reading.
23:19Channel Dream Novel.
23:20Chapter 184, The Odd Trio Professor Quirrell's defense against the dark arts class was as dreadful as always,
23:27and with his injured arm, the job of handling the, teaching assistant, fell to the students.
23:32A Gryffindor boy at the front of the class had the dubious honor of holding the large lizard,
23:38though he looked more like he was clutching a venomous snake.
23:41His face went pale as he stood there rigidly, as if he were cradling Professor Snape's inimigus form rather than a harmless reptile.
23:49I've had it with this.
23:51Kyle overheard him muttering to a friend as they left the classroom.
23:54That lizard reeks like Professor Quirrell.
23:58It must eat garlic daily, and now I smell like it, too.
24:03Ugh.
24:04I hope a cleaning spell works, otherwise, I'll need a new uniform.
24:09Kyle instinctively sniffed his own robes, picking up a faint trace of garlic,
24:13though it was far less potent than Quirrell's.
24:16Having just left the defense against the dark arts room,
24:19he figured no one else would likely notice.
24:21Still, it was enough of a smell to make anyone consider fresh clothes.
24:27As they made their way down the corridor,
24:29Kyle suddenly stopped on the second floor and turned to his friends.
24:34I'm heading to the library.
24:36Anyone want to come along?
24:38Nope, not me, Mikkel and Ryan both shook their heads quickly.
24:43Kyle had expected as much,
24:45they only ever ventured into the library for last-minute homework.
24:48Otherwise, they steered clear.
24:52I'll pass, too, Kanna said after a moment.
24:55I've been reviewing the notes Professor Snape gave me,
24:58and I need to go over them by Christmas.
25:01No extra reading for me.
25:03Snape's notes.
25:05Kyle's eyes lit up.
25:07Can I borrow them?
25:09Don't worry,
25:10I'll just make a copy so it won't take up your time.
25:12Last year, he had received Professor Flitik's charms notes,
25:17which contained unique insights and practical tips not found in any textbook.
25:22That knowledge had proven invaluable,
25:24the kind of treasure money couldn't buy.
25:27Of course, you can,
25:28Kanna replied without hesitation.
25:31Head to the library first,
25:33and I'll go back and make a copy for you.
25:35But, be careful with them.
25:38Professor Snape made me promise not to share them.
25:40As she spoke,
25:43Kanna's expression turned a bit awkward.
25:46When Snape had given her the notes,
25:47he had specifically mentioned someone's name,
25:50though she hadn't had the nerve to bring it up with the person in question.
25:54Don't worry,
25:55Kyle assured her,
25:56giving his chest a confident pat.
25:58I'm Hogwarts best kept secret.
26:01Anne.
26:03Kanna continued,
26:04my doubling charm isn't as good as yours.
26:07It'll only last a week,
26:08so you'd better read them quickly.
26:10Kyle waved off the concern.
26:13With his self-writing quill,
26:15he could copy the notes in half a day,
26:17a week was more than enough time.
26:20After finalizing their plans,
26:21Kanna,
26:22Mikkel,
26:23and Ryan returned to the common room,
26:25while Kyle took a detour to the library.
26:28The library was bustling,
26:30packed with students despite class having just ended.
26:33Kyle quickly spotted the Gryffindor trio sitting at a table near the entrance,
26:37with a stack of books towering beside them.
26:40He took a quick,
26:41curious glance their way.
26:44It was no surprise to see Hermione,
26:46who practically lived in the library.
26:48But Harry and Ron were a different story,
26:51they were more like his roommates,
26:53the type who rarely set foot here.
26:55And oddly,
26:56they had no parchment or quills,
26:58suggesting they weren't there to do schoolwork.
27:01Here to read?
27:03That's unusual.
27:05Kyle didn't linger on it.
27:07He simply gave them a quick nod of greeting before heading off to find Madam Pants.
27:12Harry.
27:13Ron whispered,
27:15watching Kyle's retreating figure.
27:17What if we just ask Kyle?
27:19If anyone knows who Nicholas Flamel is,
27:22it's probably him.
27:24No way.
27:25Hermione interjected before Harry could even respond.
27:29It's too dangerous.
27:32Don't forget,
27:32Snape already tried to kill Harry.
27:35We can't involve Kyle.
27:37Yeah.
27:39Hermione's right,
27:40Harry agreed after a moment's hesitation.
27:43He, too,
27:44felt it was best to keep this secret to themselves for now.
27:47After all,
27:48Ron's suggestion was only a hunch.
27:51Just because Kyle was clever didn't mean he'd know about Nicholas Flamel.
27:55Hermione's extensive research hadn't turned up anything,
27:58after all.
28:00Fine,
28:00it was just an idea,
28:02Ron muttered,
28:03shrugging.
28:04If you two don't think it's a good one,
28:06that's that.
28:07While the trio whispered together,
28:10Kyle had already borrowed the book he wanted and was about to leave.
28:13As he passed them,
28:15he noticed all three looking at him with odd expressions,
28:18overly bright smiles and a hint of awkwardness.
28:21Why are they acting so weird?
28:24Kyle thought,
28:25raising an eyebrow.
28:26He quickly left the library,
28:29deciding it was better to steer clear of them.
28:32He had no idea what was going on,
28:34but it seemed wise to keep his distance.
28:37Hermione,
28:38especially,
28:38had become a little strange since spending more time with Harry and Ron.
28:43It was almost,
28:44unnerving.
28:45Back in the common room,
28:47Kyle found Conna,
28:48who handed him Snape's notes.
28:50The notebook wasn't very thick,
28:52about the same size as Professor Flittick's charms notes,
28:56and didn't look like it covered everything Snape knew.
28:59Just remember,
29:00Conna warned,
29:01don't let Professor Snape find out you're reading this,
29:04or I'll be in serious trouble.
29:06No worries,
29:07Kyle replied as he took the notebook,
29:09then found a quiet spot to settle in.
29:12But instead of opening Snape's notes first,
29:15he took out the book he had borrowed from the library,
29:17Legendary Alchemical Items.
29:20Opening it,
29:21he skimmed past the early entries,
29:23the Self-Stirring Cauldron,
29:24a device that had been briefly mentioned in A History of Magic last year.
29:28Its invention had dramatically improved potion making by reducing accidents and increasing success rates.
29:34After the Self-Stirring Cauldron,
29:37there were entries on the broomstick,
29:39sneakiscope,
29:40the time-turner.
29:41Kyle wasn't interested in these,
29:43however.
29:45Flipping through the pages quickly,
29:46he soon reached what he was looking for.
29:49The Philosopher's Stone.
29:51Channel Dream Novel.
29:54Chapter 185,
29:55The Senior's Old Textbook
29:57After finding the page on the Philosopher's Stone,
30:00Kyle carefully placed the book on the table and read through it thoroughly,
30:03the greatest achievement of ancient alchemy,
30:05a magical substance with astounding abilities,
30:08it can transmute any metal into pure gold and produce the elixir of life,
30:12granting immortality to the drinker.
30:15Three Philosopher's Stones have appeared in history,
30:18each bringing with it tragic and bloody wars.
30:21The longest of these wars raged for 20 years,
30:24and the nation holding the stone was obliterated within the first decade.
30:28Due to the horrific bloodshed it has caused,
30:30the Philosopher's Stone is also called the Bloody Gen.
30:34Of these three stones,
30:36one was destroyed by Merlin and King Arthur,
30:38while another was acquired by Rowena Ravenclaw,
30:41who, alongside three allies,
30:43established the renowned Hogwarts School.
30:46This feat came at the cost of the complete destruction of the stone.
30:50The only known remaining Philosopher's Stone belongs to Mr. Nicholas Flamel,
30:55a distinguished alchemist and opera enthusiast.
30:57Below the text was an illustration of the Philosopher's Stone,
31:01a brilliant red, irregularly shaped stone,
31:04resembling an uncut ruby.
31:07Kyle stared at the image for a while,
31:09examining its details closely.
31:12He was still deep in thought when Cedric came to remind him it was time to eat.
31:17On the way to the Great Hall,
31:18Kyle managed to return the book just before the library closed.
31:21Madam Pants raised an eyebrow but didn't comment,
31:26assuming Kyle had been doing research for an assignment.
31:29For the next few days,
31:31Kyle didn't think much about the Philosopher's Stone,
31:33instead directing all his attention to Snape's notes.
31:37Despite Snape's disheveled appearance,
31:39his notes were meticulously organized.
31:42They contained detailed annotations and explanations,
31:45making even the most complex ideas easy to follow.
31:48Inspired by these notes,
31:51Kyle remembered something else he had stumbled upon
31:53during one of his nighttime excursions.
31:56He had discovered an old copy of Advanced Potion Making
31:58in a forgotten closet of the underground classroom.
32:02It was tattered,
32:03but on the inside cover,
32:04there was a small handwritten note,
32:06this book is the property of the Half-Blood Prince.
32:10TSK,
32:11The Half-Blood Prince.
32:12I didn't know Snape was such a bookworm,
32:15Kyle thought with amusement as he tucked the book under his arm.
32:19He decided he'd buy a new copy soon to replace it.
32:22Time passed quickly,
32:24and soon it was December.
32:26Hogwarts was blanketed in a thick layer of snow,
32:29and the lake had frozen over.
32:31With Christmas just around the corner,
32:33the students were more excited than usual,
32:35and it took every professor 10 points or more per class
32:38just to keep their attention.
32:40Of course,
32:41a few professors were exceptions to this rule.
32:44Professor Binns never docked points for inattentiveness,
32:47and in potions,
32:49no one dared daydream with Professor Snape at the helm,
32:51even if Christmas were the very next day.
32:54Today was no different.
32:57In the dimly lit underground classroom,
32:59everyone was focused on the careful steps required to brew their latest potion,
33:03and even the whispered exchanges were kept barely audible.
33:05At the moment,
33:07Snape stood behind Kyle,
33:09observing him with a curious expression
33:11as Kyle used the flat of his knife to crush zapophorous beans,
33:15expertly extracting their juice.
33:17What on earth is going on?
33:18I really don't know what to think.
33:22Snape muttered under his breath.
33:24He'd noticed Kyle's rapid progress in potions over the past few days.
33:29The improvement was far too substantial to have happened naturally,
33:32especially since Kyle was already one of the most proficient students in class.
33:38Snape suspected that Kyle had somehow peaked at the notes he'd given to Karna,
33:42which only covered content up to fifth year.
33:44To test his theory,
33:46Snape had abandoned the planned lesson on the hair-raising potion
33:49and opted for the more challenging draft of living death,
33:52a potion not typically taught until sixth year.
33:55His plan was simple,
33:57if Kyle attempted to make this advanced potion,
34:00his unfamiliarity with sixth-year techniques would expose him.
34:04Snape had already decided to deduct 50 points,
34:07whether Kyle's attempt was successful or not.
34:10After all,
34:11the draft of living death was notoriously difficult,
34:14requiring painstaking precision and a high level of skill.
34:18Snape was certain that Kyle's attempt would reveal evidence of unauthorized access to his notes.
34:24But now,
34:25Snape found himself uncharacteristically stumped.
34:29Kyle's method of extracting the juice from the sapophorus beans was flawless,
34:33even Snape himself couldn't have done it more efficiently.
34:36And this technique wasn't in the notes,
34:38it was clearly something Kyle had learned independently.
34:42Next to him,
34:43Kanna struggled to slice the slippery beans,
34:46barely managing.
34:48Could he really not be using my notes?
34:50Snape thought,
34:52frowning.
34:53Even the most gifted student couldn't progress this much on their own in such a short time.
34:58He decided to keep a close watch,
35:00positioning himself right behind Kyle for the entire lesson.
35:03When a cauldron exploded across the room,
35:07Snape didn't even move,
35:08he simply flicked his wand to clear the mess and ejected the unfortunate student from the classroom,
35:13all while keeping his gaze fixed on Kyle's work.
35:16By the end of class,
35:18Snape stared at the cauldron containing Kyle's perfectly brewed draft of living death.
35:23For a moment,
35:24he opened his mouth,
35:25as if about to deliver a scathing critique,
35:28but the words failed him.
35:29Instead,
35:30he let out a sharp,
35:31annoyed huff.
35:33How did you do that,
35:34he demanded,
35:35voice tense.
35:37Pardon?
35:38Kyle looked up,
35:40clearly confused.
35:42I mean,
35:42Snape continued,
35:43his face hardening,
35:45why has your potion making improved so drastically?
35:48I'm not sure,
35:49sir,
35:50Kyle replied with a friendly smile.
35:53It might be due to my time with Director Sykes at St. Mungo's.
35:56She taught me a lot over the summer and let me study many of her potions.
36:02Pegasia Sykes
36:03Snape's eyes narrowed.
36:06He knew of Sykes,
36:07one of the most accomplished potion ears of the generation,
36:10though he doubted that this fully accounted for Kyle's recent skills.
36:14If Sykes's influence were the reason,
36:16Kyle's improvement would have been evident at the start of the school year,
36:20not months in.
36:21Tell the truth.
36:23Snape demanded,
36:24staring intensely into Kyle's eyes.
36:27I am,
36:28Professor,
36:29Kyle replied,
36:30his face a picture of sincerity.
36:33If you don't believe me,
36:34you could write to Director Sykes yourself,
36:36she'd confirm it.
36:38Oh,
36:38and I recently ran into an older student who lent me some of their old textbooks.
36:43They've been really helpful.
36:45Snape's expression darkened further.
36:48He cast Kyle one last,
36:50piercing look before turning and leaving the poster,
36:52classroom without a word.
36:54An older student's textbook.
36:57As if any past student could brew such a flawless draft of living death in class.
