00:00Ok, gentlemen, we know we're losing the dressing room, but we're not going to expect out of you.
00:04I'm going to let you work it right here. This is good right here.
00:08Obey my commands, protect yourself at all times, touch them up, let's go to work.
00:13From the Disney Channel to becoming a world-ranked boxer,
00:18can he pull it off with a win tonight over a former middleweight world champion?
00:23It's in the cards for the problem child.
00:25Or will Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. spoil this fiesta and send this crowd into hysterics?
00:33Ten rounds, cruiserweight division, here we go!
00:44I'll tell you what, I was there in Arizona when the pro-Mexican crowd turned on Chavez Jr.
00:51based on their reaction tonight, they have come back to support him one more time.
00:56It's a big story, it's a big story. They had to get behind their guy.
01:00You know what I mean? He still represents the legacy, you know what I mean, of Chavez.
01:05And they love their own, you know what I mean?
01:08He's been an icon for the boxing community, Mexican boxing community.
01:12And Antonio, Chavez Jr. can land one of those left hooks to the body of Jake Paul,
01:19and it can be a real game-changer.
01:21Yeah, but I'm not seeing Chavez jab right now.
01:23You know that's the one punch that can really set the tone for all of that.
01:29Jake Paul promising a stoppage win.
01:32Says he'll turn Jr. into a meme.
01:35He's done it before. Just ask Nate Robinson, Tyrone Woodley, and the rest.
01:41You know, Jr.'s quit a couple of times in his career against Daniel Jacobs and against Andre Bonfaro.
01:47Up until that point, he has shown one of the better chins in his weight classes.
01:52Gone the distance with some good punchers, including Canelo Alvarez.
01:55So stopping him with one shot could be difficult.
02:00Antonio, what do you like about Jake Paul's boxing style?
02:03Right now, he's in rhythm.
02:06Right now, he's in rhythm. He's not really anxious.
02:09He's taking his time. He's letting the fight come to him.
02:13Right now, he's doing it the right way.
02:14He's letting it come to him behind that jab.
02:18And he got Chavez right now concerned.
02:22It's not a fight that Chavez could win fighting like this on the back foot.
02:26At his best, at 160 and slightly above, he was a good pressure fighter.
02:32When he had good moments against Daniel Jacobs in 2019, he was applying the pressure.
02:36He's trying to counterpunch off the back foot.
02:39It's going to be a long night for Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
02:41Good right hand by Jake Paul, who says, watch his reaction the first time I land a punch.
02:46He's going to be shocked at how much power I have.
02:49And, of course, we saw that uppercut that landed to Andre August and Jake Paul got that knockout.
02:57He does have some serious power.
02:58Yeah, that right hand is a weapon.
03:00He also turns the left hook pretty well, too.
03:02He's got power with both hands.
03:05Right now, I think it's important that Paul show control.
03:08Continue to show control behind his boxing.
03:11And then land those shots clean if he wants to open up.
03:15But don't get wild and don't get reckless.
03:17The last thing Chavez Jr. wants is for this crowd to turn on him.
03:20And if he's this inactive as far as throwing punches, it'll get ugly quick.
03:24And all we've seen from Chavez this round is a couple of wild left hooks.
03:32And that right hand, that right hand landed on top of the head of Chavez.
03:36I don't know if it was an effective punch.
03:39Could have been a slap with an open hand, but it did land.
03:45Good opening round for Jake Paul.
03:47It's just that simple.
03:58The shit is just that simple.
04:00Opposite.
04:01Keep it up.
04:02Keep it up.
04:03Let me breathe.
04:05Let me where that water at.
04:07Let me where that water at.
04:09Let me breathe.
04:10It's just that simple.
04:12Spoiler alert.
04:13This is done.
04:14Listen.
04:19Know the way?
04:20Know the way he's fading this way?
04:22He's trying to leave with the hook.
04:23You know where he's going this way?
04:25He's trying to shoot it right here.
04:27Okay?
04:28You're going to leave this way?
04:32Real good round for Jake Paul.
04:34The overhand only did land right on top of the ear.
04:39I think that was the most effective punch in that round.
04:42And Chris, I'm talking about the crowd making turn on Chavez.
04:44If he's not active enough, he did not land a single punch in round one.
04:50That'll get a Mexican crowd to turn on you pretty quickly.
04:53Any crowd.
04:55Unless you're the nonviolent type.
04:58But that's not what you pay for.
05:00They want blood.
05:00And Antonio just good jabs from Jake Paul early on.
05:09He's throwing that right hand.
05:12Nobody's going to sit here and say that Jake Paul belongs on a pound-for-pound list.
05:17But he fights a pretty good fight when he's on his game plan and is using that jab.
05:25Most definitely.
05:26Right now, you just need to try some of the things he's been working in the gym on.
05:29You know what I'm saying?
05:30Stop!
05:31Time!
05:31Come here.
05:32Come here.
05:33Take some of this Vaseline off his face.
05:35I was going to say take some of the Vaseline off his face.
05:42Fox!
05:43You heard Theo Chambers, the trainer of Jake Paul, saying it's just that easy.
05:47Yep.
05:47And it did look easy in round one for Jake Paul.
05:50Not much has changed here in round two.
05:53And like I was saying, I think Jake Paul needs to be trying things,
05:57showing his little optional, what his bag looks like, you know?
06:01And he's got the perfect opponent in front of him to do that.
06:06Jake Paul trying to bait Chavez into doing something.
06:10I mean, Paul would like a competitive fight.
06:13He wants to be tested a little bit.
06:14So far right now, Chavez Jr. not doing anything.
06:17to trouble.
06:18I think Chavez is so hell-bent on landing the perfect shot
06:21rather than just landing a shot.
06:25You can also see a pretty significant size difference
06:28between these two guys in the ring.
06:30Jake, who's fought above 180 for most of his pro career,
06:34fought at heavyweight his last time out.
06:36Chavez began at 160, fought at 68 and 75.
06:40He's been a cruiser for a couple of fights,
06:42but physically, this is the natural weight class for Jake Paul.
06:44And I thought both guys looked really good on the scale.
06:48Most importantly, Chavez, but it doesn't seem like he brought that energy
06:52that he was showing earlier in the press.
06:55And when he gets within range, he's got to let that left hand go to the body.
07:01That was one of his best punches in his best days.
07:05He can't just walk in and stand there.
07:07He's not even throwing.
07:08One thing Jake Paul is doing good, he's moving that target.
07:21He's not staying stationary or flat-footed long enough
07:24for Chavez to really dig to the body
07:26and even get anything else for that matter.
07:28And for what it's worth, Chavez Sr. said,
07:31there's no way my son loses this fight.
07:35No way.
07:37But he's losing right now, comprehensively.
07:40Good combination by Jake Paul.
07:42I think he's rushing in a little bit.
07:44He's got to keep those feet in place.
07:49Jake Paul's running him around the ring.
07:51You gotta let the hands go.
08:21It's time, it's time.
08:32You're already there.
08:34Now you gotta use the double jab and then go for the straight.
08:38And then you finish it up with the upper.
08:41Move the head, move your head.
08:45Just move your head too, right?
08:46And use the hook.
08:48Come on, use the upper.
08:51Let him out of his cage is basically what they're saying.
09:02Chavez Jr., time to go.
09:09Tony, would you love him just to go in there
09:11and just let a combination rip just to see what he can do?
09:13Yeah, he's got to get in position to do that though.
09:16Like I said, looking for the perfect shot, I believe.
09:19And he's letting Jake get off.
09:20That was a good body shot right up under the elbow.
09:23And the guard of Chavez Jr. is so high.
09:25That body shot's going to be there for Jake all night.
09:28Mike Perry said the first punch Jake Paul hit him with
09:30was to the ribs and it broke his rib.
09:31And that shot right there sounded pretty darn good too.
09:35And here they come.
09:46As Paul lands the power punches, more complaining from Chavez Jr.
09:51Hey, boxing it, Antonio, if you don't like what the other guy's doing to you,
09:54you can punch it in the face.
09:55The third man in the ring tonight, Gerard White, your referee.
10:10Chavez understands he's in a fight,
10:12but he's got to put up some type of resistance.
10:13He can't let Jake Paul keep having his way like this.
10:17And he has over 60 fights.
10:18He should know what he should be able to do.
10:25And Paul's trying to cut the ring off now.
10:28Get Chavez stationary.
10:31With Chavez just putting up no resistance offensively at all.
10:35I mean, we wondered if we were going to get a carbon copy
10:39of what we saw from Chavez against Uriah Hall.
10:41This is basically it.
10:43A guy that's fighting off the back foot,
10:45not comfortable throwing combinations.
10:47Only this time, he's going up against an opponent
10:49that is willing to throw a right hand,
10:51that is digging to the body.
10:53Right now, it doesn't look like anything has changed.
10:55And there's his dad watching.
11:04His hands aren't on his head yet.
11:07There they go.
11:09Right on cue.
11:21I mean, Chris, if this were an NBA game,
11:23Chavez Jr. would be that player who has like 40 minutes,
11:26but no rebounds, no points, no assists, nothing.
11:30Which is disappointing.
11:32Because when I talk to fighters and former fighters,
11:36the thing they say is like if Chavez is right,
11:38he's got a chance.
11:40He can fight.
11:41There's a little tag.
11:42Finally.
11:43Something.
11:46And you can see Chavez Jr., man.
11:48His heart right now is bleeding.
11:51Good body shot right here.
12:18Solid, solid, solid body shot, clean.
12:25And that came after a hook to the top.
12:27Like I said, I'm impressed, and I like what Jake is doing.
12:31That hook, then body to the, body downstairs.
12:34Solid shot.
12:35That hurt, Chavez.
12:36Nice jab.
12:37All right, round four, a ray of hope for Chavez Jr.
13:02with that left hook that connected and see if he can build on that.
13:08There's going to be more of the same for Jake Paul.
13:15Chavez is going to have to fire back something to, you know,
13:19at least unnerve Jake.
13:21Jake is too comfortable right now coming in and landing what he wants.
13:24Good right hander, buddy, yeah.
13:35What do you make of the technique of Jake Paul?
13:36It looks good.
13:37I mean, like I said, he's subtle.
13:38And that's one thing they want everyone to see, him settle down.
13:43I think a lot of the hardcore fans are still unconvinced,
13:48but I think it'll go a long way.
13:49Good body shot combination.
13:52More complaining for Chavez Jr.
13:54I thought that was clean.
13:56We're both on the belt line.
13:58He's complained about shots at the back of the head that weren't there.
14:00He's complaining about low blows that aren't there.
14:03He is calling more phantom punches than he's throwing actual punches.
14:10Body shot by Chavez.
14:11He missed up top with the right hand.
14:16There's the jab again for Jake Paul.
14:20Again, Chavez looked like he was struggling with his footwork.
14:23Oh, big right from Paul.
14:27And you can see the red markings now on the face of Chavez Jr.
14:31He's getting beat up by El Gallo de Dorado.
14:35Uh-oh.
14:35At least Chavez showing some life here in the fourth.
14:44He's fighting back.
14:45And that's what we want to see from Chavez.
14:47We know he want Jake back to the ropes.
14:50Oh, good right hand by Jake Paul.
14:51Father shouting instructions to the son, who I doubt is listening.
14:59It's going to be important for Jake Paul to control that conditioning.
15:03He don't want to let that heart rate get away from him.
15:05Well, that was the thing I thought coming into this fight,
15:08that if Chavez Jr. could make it competitive in the early rounds,
15:11he would have a chance to win late.
15:13Jake Paul weighed around, what, 220, 230 in that last fight
15:17against Mike Tyson that was shaved down to get to Cruiserweight.
15:20He carries a lot of muscle, Antonio.
15:22And you know this.
15:23Right.
15:23Muscle is heavy, especially when you get to the second half of the fight.
15:27That was a right hand in the back of Jake Paul here
15:29that landed for Chavez.
15:31Chavez showing more signs of life here.
15:33He's trying to push the pace, be aggressive.
15:41Good jab by Chavez.
15:43Good jab by Jake.
15:46He answered back.
16:03Well, just announced on the zone,
16:06Moses Atomwa will look to further cement his credentials
16:09as a major heavyweight challenger
16:10when he faces Dillian White this afternoon.
16:13He's doing a lot of good work to the body.
16:20He's doing a lot of good work to the body.
16:37Again, he's got to start.
16:38Tight fist, tight wrist.
16:39Turn those punches over.
16:43Good one, too, right there.
16:45He's winging those shots a little bit,
16:47and I want to see him under a lot more control,
16:49but that comes with experience.
16:55All right, round five.
16:59We're scheduled for ten, almost halfway home.
17:01The crowd still engaged, despite the lack of success from Chavez Jr. so far.
17:10Chris, has he won a round yet?
17:11No, I don't think he's won a run.
17:13I've got it four rounds to none in favor of Jake Paul at this point.
17:16A couple of good moments for Chavez Jr. in that fourth round,
17:19but so many power shots landed by Jake Paul.
17:23Great body work by Jake Paul so far.
17:25Good shot.
17:25And the jab has been working for him.
17:28He stepped on that jab.
17:30Oh, good hit right hand by Chavez.
17:32That's what Chavez needs to do.
17:38Be a front foot fighter.
17:40Put the pressure on Jake Paul.
17:41Get him backing up.
17:42That's what made Chavez successful during his best years.
17:48Chavez has got to find a way to let his hands go.
17:50I think if he let his hands go, he can get some success,
17:53at least find out what Jake can take.
17:56It was 14 years ago when Chavez Jr. defeated Sebastian Zubik
18:00to win his middleweight championship, June of 2011.
18:07Had a big win over Andy Lee in 2012,
18:10but since then, not a lot to shout about.
18:12Oh, that was love.
18:19Can't close your head either.
18:21You're on his hand, though.
18:22You're on his hand.
18:23You're on his hand.
18:25You're okay?
18:26Tight end, Fox.
18:30And this is the round that Jake predicted he would finish Chavez Jr.
18:39Let's see if he can.
18:40He's got a minute 20 to go.
18:45Other than the two times that Chavez basically quit against my headbutt there,
18:49and Daniel Jacobs, he's been pretty durable.
18:51Canelo couldn't get him out.
18:53Watch your heads.
18:53You okay?
18:54You okay?
18:54Watch your heads.
18:56Don't go behind me like that.
18:58And that's what Jake Paul said.
18:59I'll do something that Canelo could not do.
19:01I'm going to stop Chavez Jr.
19:05He was going to stop him.
19:06He's probably going to be with a body shot.
19:10Right hand scores.
19:11I think that'll be a big feather in his cap if he can get an impressive stoppage.
19:16You know what I mean?
19:17The hardcore fans are still trying to be convinced that Jake Paul is here to stay.
19:25Right now, I say he's a prospect, a good win here.
19:28Makes him a contender.
19:29So, I know what I'm seeing.
19:37Well, usually a good opponent can bring out the best in you,
19:40but Chavez Jr. hasn't exactly been a good opponent so far.
19:44But do you like what you're seeing?
19:46Well, he's given him some challenges,
19:47but I think he needs to step it up a lot in order for us to see,
19:51you know, if Jake Paul can work his way through some hard spots in a fight.
19:59Winging overhand right, nowhere close from Jr.
20:25Look at me.
20:27He has nothing left.
20:29I need you to start throwing your hands.
20:34Double jab, and then the right.
20:37Go in with a double jab.
20:42Double jab.
20:45And then your left hook and an overhand right.
20:48Jake with a lot of good movement right here.
20:50That hook.
20:52I like the front hand.
20:54The front hand has been the dominant hand.
20:56That jab like that.
20:57Setting everything up for Jake.
20:59You heard in the corner, they said he's got nothing left.
21:07Talking about Jake Paul.
21:08I thought they were talking about their own fighter.
21:09Well, they apparently see something that we don't.
21:14Chris, how do you have it through five rounds?
21:16Got it five rounds to none in favor of Jake Paul.
21:1850 to 45.
21:19And honestly, not a single one of these rounds has been particularly close.
21:24Chavez had a couple of decent moments in the fourth round, but he is regularly getting walked down.
21:29He is regularly getting hit to the body.
21:31And the punch output from Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. simply isn't there.
21:3550 to 45 in favor of Jake Paul.
21:38These two do have a common opponent.
21:42Chavez lost to Anderson Silva 16 months before Jake Paul beat him.
21:46Nice uppercut off the jab.
21:49Good combination by Jake.
21:50That's an adjustment, Antonio.
21:52We've seen Jake throw the jab, and then the overhand right there on the inside.
21:55He goes that rear uppercut.
21:56Nice little mixing up of punches.
21:59Looked like Chavez got a little body shot in.
22:02Jake didn't like it.
22:04Jake is built tough.
22:06He looks like a brick in there.
22:07Yeah, I think 200 pounds is his weight class.
22:14Nice little check hook by Jake Paul.
22:20Just would like to see Chavez get a combination of something off.
22:25And sometimes when you're not in the best of shape,
22:28you can only do what you can do.
22:30You can't put any variations on your shots.
22:32You know what I mean?
22:33So you're struggling just to get that one shot off.
22:37In the back of his mind, he's thinking,
22:38man, I got four rounds to go after this one.
22:40So I can't empty the tank when the tank is almost already empty.
22:44And then all of those little short shots.
22:45Oh, good hook up top.
22:47Those little short shots in there from Jake Paul are effective on Chavez.
22:52And there he goes.
22:57Chavez needs more of that and more of everything, really.
23:05It'd be nice if he can counter that jab from Jake.
23:07Come over top and give him something to worry about.
23:14There you go.
23:15And Jake wisely ties him up.
23:18Smart.
23:27I think explosiveness is missing from Chavez's game tonight.
23:31Even if he could do it once or twice,
23:33he's going to have to explode on Jake.
23:36The crowd trying to will Jr. on.
23:41There's a left there cheering every punch he throws.
23:45There's another look.
23:46And a right from Jake Paul.
23:48Jake throwing back.
23:54Sweeping left hook doesn't score.
23:57Best round, though, so far for Chavez Jr.
24:00But I think that's what we're going to get.
24:08Maybe 10, 15 good seconds from Chavez Jr. around.
24:11Yeah, unfortunately, that could be physical and mental shape that he's not in.
24:24Good way to fight.
24:26That's it.
24:26You deserve it right there.
24:28Well, we have a blockbuster weekend coming up July 18th or July 19th, rather.
24:53Usyk Dubois, too, for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world from Wembley.
24:59And then we're coming all the way over to the United States.
25:02And it's the return of Bam Rodriguez, one of the pound-for-pound stars.
25:06He's taking on Cafu from Dallas, Texas.
25:09All right, the crowd's into it again.
25:15I'll tell you what, though, Todd.
25:16Chavez Jr. stayed in that stew for a long time at the end of that round.
25:20He's breathing real heavy in between the moments of the last two rounds.
25:25Yeah, he let his hands go a little bit in that round.
25:27Had some success, but again, it took a lot out of him, it seems.
25:31And he likes the response from Jake Paul when he got caught with a punch.
25:35He flipped the script.
25:37He started throwing bombs right at Chavez Jr.
25:39I like that left hand from Chavez there.
25:41Straight to the body.
25:41Jake responds, but that's where Chavez's got to go.
25:44Left hook to the body.
25:45I think Jake felt that left hook.
26:00Don't know how flush it was.
26:07Again, Jake Paul ties Chavez Jr. anytime he gets close.
26:11What I notice about this round, Jake is not really putting a lot of power on his punches.
26:15He's letting them flow, though.
26:17And I think that's good.
26:18He's changing the trajectory on those punches by taking a little bit of power and scoring effectively.
26:25Jake Paul has completed the 10-round distance once before in his career
26:28when he faced Nate Diaz, the 38th room, who's making his pro boxing debut.
26:41When you're throwing a lot of low blows like that, Tarver's a lot not have to do with fact
26:53if you're fatigued a little bit, you're not putting enough on the puck.
26:56Yeah, yeah, I think so in this case.
26:59Oh, nice uppercut.
27:00Chavez thought he was going to the body, and he went up top.
27:03Antonio, what would you like to see Jake Paul do more of?
27:13I mean, what he got in front of him right now, I think he's doing what he has to do.
27:17That jab is a key.
27:18And like I said, when he throw that right hand, maybe he should throw it straight sometime
27:22instead of losing it.
27:23But I like what he's doing inside like that.
27:25Those short punches, man, they're very effective on Chavez.
27:29And he's going to need that moving up.
27:33Half a minute to go here in round seven.
27:42Doesn't look like Chavez Jr. is going to win the fight.
27:45Can he win a round?
27:48You never know.
27:49He does have that left hook, line power, or at least used to.
27:53He can't connect flush, maybe.
27:55With that jab again.
28:04He's been there all night controlling Chavez.
28:10And we are live in Anaheim, California, boxing at the Honda Center.
28:16And we learned earlier, the biggest gate ever for any fight in this building, Jake Paul and Chavez Jr.
28:23There's what we call a beauty shot in the business.
28:32Jake Paul brings attention, brings money.
28:36But can he bring himself into the ratings for the WBA, the WBC?
28:40Once he gets there, Chris, what's the next step for Jake Paul?
28:44I don't think Jake Paul abides by traditional rules.
28:47He'll go his own direction.
28:48But performances like this are really showing growth in Jake Paul.
28:52I love that rear uppercut.
28:53You don't see a lot of fighters throw that.
28:56That's a difficult punch.
28:57It exposes you to counter shots.
28:59Jake Paul is really willing to unleash that rear uppercut.
29:02What was your favorite punch to throw?
29:10Straight left.
29:12Straight down the pipe.
29:16Chavez Jr. running out of time.
29:18Three rounds left.
29:22These fans here just want a moment.
29:24They want something.
29:30Good jab.
29:32Looked like the best jab of the fight for Chavez Jr.
29:36Good right hand.
29:39He might be opening up now.
29:42And, Chris, I know it was well over a decade ago,
29:44but remember, Chavez Jr. was being dominated by Sergio Martinez
29:47for 11 straight rounds.
29:48But then in the 12th, Chavez Jr. dropped the champ,
29:53and it turned into a legendary 12th.
29:56If you watched it live, man, it was a real stunner.
29:59It was.
30:00It was also 13 years ago.
30:02Against a fighter that was physically much smaller than him.
30:06Ludo Cesar Chavez Jr. in this moment is the smaller fighter.
30:09And Chavez has not shown me for the better part of eight rounds
30:13that he's willing to let his hands go like that.
30:15I think we all want to believe that maybe Chavez Jr. could turn back the clock,
30:24that getting clean for 18 months, focusing on his training,
30:28trying to win back some of the fans he lost in the Jacobs fight,
30:31and the funfara fight would lead to a different outcome.
30:34But the reality is,
30:35this is just more of the same from Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
30:38on paper, the most decorated fighter, other, of course, than Mike Tyson,
30:53who was 58 years old last year when he fought him.
30:56And he's the most decorated fighter that Jake's been in there with,
30:59and he has not had any problems whatsoever.
31:05A little bit of life.
31:07Oh!
31:07Heartbeat, there's a right hand!
31:08Right hand.
31:09You're just far in between.
31:15Jake is the more active fighter,
31:18and I think that activity right now is leading him to victory.
31:28But I think in this fight,
31:30if Chavez can land one significant blow,
31:32he could turn another round.
31:35Yeah, how will Jake Paul handle being hurt?
31:38You know, we don't really know.
31:39Tyron Woodley kind of in a bit of trouble.
31:42There's Mama Bear.
31:44Very vocal for her son.
31:47Boy, what a life she's living.
31:48She goes, watches Logan at the WWE,
31:51watches Jake in boxing.
31:54Good body shot.
31:55Yeah, left hook to the body from Chavez,
31:57and that makes Jake throw more punches.
31:59Still Jake in there answering.
32:03Wanted to land the uppercut again.
32:08And we'll head to the eighth.
32:20Mom and dad ringside.
32:22So his brother.
32:23It's a family affair.
32:24What the fuck, though?
32:29What a love, though.
32:31Five, four, three, two.
32:32Good, look, breathe.
32:34Move, yeah, breathe.
32:35Suck that shit up.
32:37Ah, let me breathe.
32:39Hey.
32:40Slap your gun.
32:41You're so tight.
32:43Just get tight on the end of the pro.
32:45Get tight on the end of the pro.
32:46Get shit loose.
32:48Bop, bop, bop.
32:49Move.
32:49All right?
32:50One, two, one.
32:51Move.
32:52He behind nine goddamn rounds.
32:56This motherfucker.
32:57So what he trying to do is to get close, he get close.
32:59All right?
33:00All right.
33:00All right.
33:01Box, box, box, box, box.
33:04All right.
33:04All right.
33:04All right.
33:04All right.
33:05All right.
33:05All right.
33:06All right.
33:06All right.
33:07All right.
33:07All right.
33:08So we're in round nine.
33:14Six minutes left to go.
33:16It's been a dominant display by Jake Paul.
33:21Can Chavez Jr. muster up some magic?
33:25He's the aggressor here.
33:28Maybe he's fooling us all, Chris, and has saved the best for last.
33:32Be a hell of a game plan, Todd.
33:40Good right hand.
33:41That land is solid.
33:42And another right.
33:43Jake Paul tried to hold on.
33:45It's like for the third time now, the referee has had to explain that if it's on the belt
33:58line, it's a legal punch.
34:00And let me tell you something.
34:01I know where this is going.
34:02This is going to a press conference after the fight where Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. complains
34:08about low blows.
34:09That's where this is all headed.
34:10He's setting up the complaints about getting hit low.
34:13We're in the ninth round of a 10-round fight.
34:22Jake Paul has been active, really active, letting his hands go.
34:26And he doesn't seem like he's out of breath or anything like that.
34:30I would say he's controlling this fight.
34:32And it's the poise that I'm showing that's impressed me tonight.
34:35Good right hand by Chavez.
34:40He's putting on that pressure now.
34:42I think he got a couple shots in.
34:45And Paul wisely ties him up.
34:52Chavez is there to be tied up because he's not trying to get any movement of separation
34:57from the guy.
35:13Chavez said he wanted to bring respect back to boxing by beating Jake Paul tonight.
35:18He's not doing that.
35:22He's not having a bad round, though, here.
35:24He's landing some pretty clean shots.
35:28And it seems like at this stage, Jake is starting to tire a little bit.
35:31This is probably the best round so far for Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
35:34Yeah, those punches from Jake is not coming as fluent as they were.
35:38He may be taking a deep breath right now.
35:40Well, the experience of Chavez Jr. should shine through.
35:43He's had over 60 pro fights compared to just 12 from Jake.
35:47And Jake, of course, no amateur experience.
35:50Jake don't have a lot of power on those shots, but he is throwing them, and he is throwing.
35:53Good right hand by Chavez.
35:55Another one.
35:57You can see the fatigue from Jake.
36:00Deep breaths.
36:00And a big uppercut.
36:02Chavez getting dizzy.
36:05The crowd on their feet.
36:06They're starting to believe that maybe, just maybe, oh, left hook.
36:21Chavez traveling around.
36:24And he's won a round, everybody.
36:26Give him the round.
36:27And he's won a round.
36:57You have to knock him out.
37:07Everything you got.
37:09Come on, son.
37:10You got to light it up.
37:13You got to knock him out.
37:16Everything he's got.
37:18Everything you've got, he deserves it.
37:20Everything you got.
37:21Let it all go.
37:22It's not how you start, it's how you finish.
37:26For sure.
37:27At least that's the motto now that Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is living by.
37:32Three minutes to go.
37:33Can he complete the ultimate comeback after being dominated for the first eight rounds?
37:38Just when you thought Chavez was looking to lay down somewhere, he came back viciously.
37:43And I believe he won that round.
37:45We'll look at Chris Mannix's scorecard quickly here as Chavez back, Jake up against the ropes.
37:59Jake fighting back.
38:00Yeah, and I've got an 89-82.
38:03I did give Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. that ninth round, his first round of the fight.
38:08If he could have just picked up the pace earlier, banked at least one or two of these earlier rounds,
38:14he would have given himself half a shot here.
38:16But he gave away so many of those early rounds, the only way he wins this fight is going to be by knockout.
38:24Well, you know what, Jake Paul wants a knockout too.
38:27And with Chavez throwing more punches now, there will be opportunities for him to catch him.
38:31Most definitely.
38:32He's just got to be relaxed and set that counter shot up, that counter shot up, perfect counter shot.
38:40Really nice to see Chavez put out those.
38:42You know, I'm wondering if Chavez doubted that he would be able to last the 10 rounds because of his conditioning.
38:48And now that he's sensing that he's going to do it, he's starting to open up.
38:56Good shot.
38:57Jake Paul catches him with a short left on the inside.
39:03Minute 20 to go.
39:05Didn't know what to really expect, but it's been an entertaining fight all the way through these 10 rounds.
39:12Ten, ten, ten, stop, stop, stop.
39:25Ken Chavez, land the left hook.
39:28Where's Chavez like, where was this approach early?
39:31Good job.
39:34All he needs is a clean shot.
39:36If he can get one clean shot in.
39:37This is the Mexican style the fans came to see.
39:43Going out on your shield.
39:47Right hand from Chavez.
39:51Good jab.
39:54And Jake holding on.
39:5630 seconds to go.
40:02I think Chavez won a lot of his fans back tonight with these last two rounds.
40:07He gave us a show at least for six minutes but in the end the problem child reigns supreme.
40:37I don't die when I see the body of my face.
40:41For your heart, baby.
40:43Fight out.
40:45You push it as your motherfucker.
40:47You're making the fight.
40:48You're making the fight.
40:49A strong finish from Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
40:52But just not enough activity over the first two-thirds of the fight.
40:57He let Jake Paul dictate the pace.
41:00Jake landed the heavier shots.
41:02To your point, Antonio, maybe he did win back some of the fans with the way he closed the show.
41:06But I don't see any way he won this fight.
41:08No, I think it was out of reach for him.
41:11Haps off to Jake Paul.
41:12He showed a lot more tonight with the real fighter in front of him.
41:15But, man, I'm looking forward to see where he goes next.
41:18Jake Paul didn't get the meme knockout that he was wanting.
41:27But in the end he goes ten solid rounds and looked really good for eight of them.
41:33And now Chavez Jr., who all of a sudden looks as fresh as a daisy.
41:37He looks like he can go another ten.
41:40Right.
41:41Right?
41:43He saved face.
41:45And that may be just enough for Chavez Jr.
41:54Luis Cesar Chavez Jr. landed 61 punches, 40 of them, in the last three rounds.
42:01Wow.
42:07So is Jake Paul about to get his twelfth pro win?
42:14Not sure how you can see it any other way, but eight rounds to two.
42:22After this, we will be heading to New York City for ring three.
42:28Berlanga versus Amza Shiraz and Shakur Stevenson versus William Zapata.
42:35Which one of those two fights are you most excited about, Antonio?
42:37I'm excited about Shakur Stevenson and William Zapata.
42:40You know, Shakur Stevenson has been talking like he's coming in and punching this fight.
42:44And he may have to because he's in with a knockout puncher for sure.
42:48Yeah, Zapata forces you to fight whether you want to or not.
42:51Throws over a thousand punches a fight, does the Mexican.
43:00Good sportsmanship between the two.
43:02Chris, how would you rate Jake Paul's performance tonight?
43:08I think for Jake Paul and where he is in his career, it was a B-plus type of performance.
43:15I think you have to remember, I said this earlier, Jake Paul is officially 11-1, probably about
43:21to be 12-1.
43:22But I look at him as only a 2-1 fighter coming into this fight.
43:25He had three fights against the quote-unquote actual boxers.
43:30He is 2-1 in those fights.
43:32You can knock these types of opponents, but go back onto BoxRack and look at your favorite
43:37fighters.
43:38Who were they fighting in their fourth professional fight?
43:41Jake Paul is just doing it on a much bigger stage.
43:44Which I think for him, this was a solid B, B-plus type of performance.
43:48Let's go into the ring in big mode.
43:50Good job.
43:57Ladies and gentlemen, after 10 full rounds, we go to the judges' scorecards for the official
44:04decision, Judge Steve Weisfeld sees it 99-91, Judge Rudy Barragan sees it 97-93, and Judge
44:14Max DeLuca sees it 98-92, declaring your winner by unanimous decision, Jake El-Galde-Norado!
44:28No surprise there, as Jake Paul wins for the 12th time as a pro, and of course, there's
44:46the product placement.
44:47No one does that better than Jake Gaffer.
44:49Exactly.
44:52Well, Chris gave him a B-plus.
44:55What about you, Antonio?
44:56I got to really agree with Chris.
44:57I was impressed with that.
