00:00So, if there's one thing that we all know about comic books, it's that superheroes are almost
00:04always portrayed as beings who help the innocent, slay the evils of the world, and look amazing
00:09while doing so. While a good majority of our favourite comic book heroes love the people
00:14that they protect, there are also quite a few so-called heroes who actually learn to
00:18view humanity as despicable creatures barely worth the effort. So let's take a look at
00:22them as I'm Jules, this is WhatCulture.com, and these are the 10 Greatest Comic Book
00:26Heroes Who Despise Humans.
00:2810. Raven
00:30Raven has gone through many different iterations of her life, even dying and becoming a wandering
00:35spirit after becoming possessed by evil and trying to kill her teammates, the Teen Titans.
00:40Even in her ghost form, Raven held disdain for the humans that often viewed her as a demon.
00:45Raven's entire internal struggle revolves around her battle against the evil that resides within her,
00:50and the constant feeling of loneliness brought on by the innate mistrust and hatred humans have
00:54of her. While Raven truly hates her father Trigon above any other being in the universe,
01:00humans come as a close second. Raven holds little love in her heart for the humans that live outside
01:04the Titans' tower. It's true that Raven loves the few humans on her team, and has been trying
01:09to open up more and more to them about her inner feelings and thoughts, and most of the time the team
01:13has to learn about her feelings from a magical attack that forces their innermost feelings to be exposed
01:18to one another.
01:199. Deadpool
01:20Deadpool is one of pop culture's greatest icons due to his comedic self-awareness and
01:25complete lack of humanity. Fans love to praise Wade Wilson for his comedy, his tragedy, and his
01:31constant rivalries with heroes and villains alike from across the Marvel multiverse, but the Merc with
01:36a Mouth once himself rebelled against his fans in the classic comic event Deadpool Kills the Marvel
01:41Universe. Deadpool has also killed more people than can possibly be counted, with many being killed simply
01:46because Wade felt like it. He's also tortured and tormented many of his closest friends and
01:51allies, and has ended up being rejected by his fellow mutants from humans and even from death
01:56herself. His hatred of all living things makes Deadpool often become the loneliest immortal being
02:01in the Marvel Universe. While he mostly kills bad guys in their seemingly endless supply of goons,
02:07he's also killed many innocent people in some pretty messed up ways, whether possessed by another
02:11bad guy because they got in the way of his chaotic battles, or simply because he's completely unstable
02:15and they bothered him at the wrong time. Deadpool even once encouraged a teen girl to kill herself
02:21because he knew that it was the one thing that he could never truly accomplish, though he has tried
02:26many, many times. Pretty grim, right?
02:298. Rorschach
02:30While Rorschach may be the loosest definition of a comic book hero, he nonetheless is one of the few
02:36characters in comic history to hold a true and unshakable disdain for humanity. Both in his actions and
02:42his personal thoughts that are found inside his journals, Rorschach has shown that he believes
02:46without a doubt that the world is truly ugly, and the few who are actually good people in this world
02:52are really just prey for the others to mercilessly devour. His outlook on humanity is one of pure
02:57hatred, with perhaps children being his only exception. He believes that everyone is willing
03:02to stand by and ignore the filth on the street, and that everyone is constantly complaining about the
03:07things that he views to be meaningless and unimportant. This, mixed with his unshakable
03:12delusions of standing firm in the face of even Armageddon, has made him one of pop culture's most
03:17engaging characters, but also one who could care less what the scum of the world, in his eyes,
03:22think of him. Rorschach is also incredibly brutal. He kills anyone that he thinks is evil without a
03:27second thought, no justice system or jails, no one to judge the wicked, except for him.
03:327. Namor
03:33As with most kings under the sea, Namor holds a deep mistrust and somewhat obvious hatred towards
03:39humanity. He has often gone to war with humans on the surface for any reason that he deems to be
03:44worthy of killing, including the Kingdom of Wakanda when he had the powers of the Phoenix Force.
03:49Namor used that uncontrollable power to drown the capital city of Wakanda, killing millions.
03:54The Sub-Mariner's loyalty to Earth can change seemingly on a dime, and his unpredictability mixed
03:59with his arrogance and superiority complex all make for one of the most unstable heroes on Earth.
04:05Even when Namor joined the secret superhuman council called the Illuminati, he rarely got
04:09along with any of his other fellow members. He always proposed the most violent and the most
04:13destructive methods of dealing with Earth's problems. Namor would gladly drown the entire
04:18Earth if he felt that it would be the only way to save his kingdom. This arrogance and brutality led
04:23to Namor's murder by the hands of King T'Challa during one of the secret Illuminati missions,
04:27a death that many saw coming and few felt bad about, aside from the unshakable moral characters
04:32like Captain America.
04:346. The Spectre
04:35One of the most powerful beings in the DC multiverse, the Spectre is the embodiment of God's wrath.
04:42And by wrath, we mean the Old Testament flood the world to start humanity over type of wrath.
04:46The Spectre is also so full of hatred towards humanity that if it's not bonded with the spirit of a
04:51human, it will judge everyone equally as sinners. This means, I don't know if you litter or something
04:55like that, you are the same as a murderer in the eyes of the Spectre, and therefore would be
05:00subject to his undeniable power. Even when bonded with a human, the Spectre has proven to be an
05:05uncontrollable force, making its users subject to the limitations brought on by being the Spectre.
05:10Even Hal Jordan, one of the strongest-willed humans in the universe, had difficulty controlling
05:15the Spectre, trying his best to direct the wrath for good rather than for its innate neutral chaos.
05:215. Red Hood
05:22The second Robin has become one of the most infamous characters in DC Comics history. His run as Robin
05:28was so hated by DC fans that they almost unanimously voted to kill him off in brutal fashion at the
05:33hands of the Joker. Sadly, like most comic book characters, he was actually brought back thanks
05:38to the use of Ra's al Ghul's Lazarus Pit. But being revived by the Lazarus Pit meant that the person
05:43who emerges from death is not the same as the person they once were, and Jason was no different.
05:48His exposure to the pit made him more unstable, more violent, and less willing to follow Batman's
05:53straight-edged moral compass. Instead, Todd believed that the only way to truly stop criminals is to
05:57bury them six feet underground. Adopting a new name, the Red Hood, Jason quickly became a fan
06:02favourite due to his brutal tactics on crime and his immediate rivalry with Batman. Red Hood has slowly
06:08become more of an anti-hero in recent stories, but when he first arrived, Red Hood viewed all of
06:13humanity as flawed and corrupt, and all too willing to try and save monsters like the Joker instead of
06:17doing what needed to be done in his eyes. 4. Detective Chimp
06:22While some of you might not even know who he is, Detective Chimp has saved the universe countless
06:26times thanks to his heightened intelligence and overall skills in the magical arts. However,
06:31due to his appearance, Detective Chimp isn't accepted by most humans, and due to his intelligence,
06:36he isn't accepted by other chimps. So the world's smartest detective is forced to wander the Earth
06:40and its spiritual planes, saving universes when he can, all the while hating himself and others for
06:46the way that he looks and how he's treated by his fellow magicians as well as normal humans.
06:50Being forced to save people who won't ever truly accept him has led Detective Chimp to often despise
06:55humans and constantly wonder what the point of it all is, something shared with his fellow magician
06:59Constantine. Though they also have a major rivalry, as Constantine is more aggressive towards the world
07:04than even Detective Chimp.
07:063. Cyclops Cyclops was once the greatest mutant to ever live. His heroic leading of the X-Men
07:12saved humanity countless times, even when he had to fight his own friends or lovers. That all changed
07:17when he gained the power of the Phoenix Force. With the Phoenix Force, Cyclops and several other X-Men
07:22devastated the world in the pursuit of betterment for all of mutantkind, leading to the death of
07:27Charles Xavier by Psyche's own laser. Even after losing the Phoenix Force, Cyclops turned into the
07:32one thing that he fought against, and that was pretty much Magneto. The stress of events like
07:36House of M reducing the mutant population, mixed with so many other traumatic wars and mutant
07:41genocides caused by humanity's unshakable hatred of the mutant race, radicalised Cyclops.
07:46Scott Summers took several mutants and went rogue, fighting against humans, the X-Men, and even the
07:52Inhumans, all to preserve mutants above any other race on Earth.
07:562. The Punisher
07:57Now Frank Castle already gained a negative outlook on the world when he was in the military,
08:01but on that fateful day that his entire family was slaughtered in front of him,
08:05he lost all traces of humanity that was still inside him. Though the Punisher doesn't kill or
08:09injure the innocent, he certainly has come to despise them. Whether it's because they allow
08:13the evil and corrupt to take power, stand by and let good people die or be hurt by evil people,
08:18or simply because they are so unaware of the filth that has taken over their cities,
08:22the Punisher has become fully separated from normal citizens and even other superheroes in his
08:27hatred of humans. This total disassociation can best be seen in the Marvel event Civil War.
08:32In the first version, Captain America went underground with several heroes to battle
08:35against Iron Man's loyalist group of heroes who were trying to get heroes to register with
08:39the government and reveal their secret identities to the world. Cap was running out of soldiers and
08:44recruited some C-list villains to assist by his side, but the Punisher killed those villains on
08:48sight, believing that if someone turns evil, they simply cannot be forgiven for the crimes they
08:53commit and the innocent lives they take. This forced Cap to toss the Punisher out of their resistance
08:58and turn Frank into a lone wanderer who felt justified in his violent and unforgiving actions.
09:031. Supergirl
09:05When people see the classic symbol of the House of El, they imagine the wearer of that symbol to
09:10treasure human life above all others. However, Kara, aka Supergirl, has constantly struggled with
09:15being an alien forced by her cousin to protect a race of people that are far weaker than her in every
09:20single way. Supergirl actually grew up on Krypton, so she had to fully deal with the loss of her
09:25entire civilization and wasn't able to experience humanity from a young age like her cousin. Thus,
09:29it became increasingly difficult to be asked to protect a civilization like ours. This hatred
09:34became so hard to fight against that at one point, Supergirl just up and left Earth to wander the stars
09:39and take a break from us. Her hatred for humanity became so bad that she actually attracted a red lantern
09:44ring and became a red lantern for a time. She has come back to Earth, but she still feels isolated
09:49and disconnected from us insignificant beings that she flies above every single day.
09:53And there we go, my friends. Those were the 10 greatest comic book heroes who despise humans.
