00:00Last weekend I decided to check out Fairy Glen in Appley Bridge. It's actually just off Parbold Hill and it's always up there when you look at these lists of what to do with your family, where to go for a nice walk that's not too long, with the dog, with a puss chair, that kind of thing.
00:17A little look online for a postcode gives you this lay-by that's off the A5029, just off the motorway, but there's very little signage showing you where to go.
00:31So after asking some passers-by, it is actually just beyond that sign to the left and then immediately left again through a little gap and a green oasis opens up and as you'll be able to see, there's bits of glitter and glittery slime and coins hammered into tree trunks all the way along.
00:52It's actually very, very pretty, it's secluded, a little stream that runs through, but no signs as you can see here, complete lack of signs, so you've got to just go for it and see where you end up.
01:09So there's one route that is wheelchair and pram friendly, another that's really not, with some quite steep stairs, sorry, some steps, and there's some stagnant water and there's lots and lots of flies around her and we went.
01:25So yeah, we got to this point and we ended up coming out of the wooded area and we got lost.
01:32It was very pretty, but when we found someone to ask for directions, they sent us on this path that goes past somebody's house.
01:43We were up a very steep track.
01:46We actually ended up coming out opposite Miller and Carter there on Parbold Hill.
01:52And, you know, it was a nice walk, but not what we planned on.
01:58And of course, yes, we had to get a Mr. Whippy.
02:01So all's ends that, all's well that ends well, but it's not what we intended.
02:06We did get lost and they really do need to look at that.
02:10So just bear it in mind if you're considering this trip.
