00:30A lot of people thought that I was dreaming, a lot of people thought I wasn't going to happen back in the days, but I'm the type of person, if I believe in myself, I'll do my best to make it come into fruition.
00:39Like when I was 15, I was on a radio show out of Ryerson University. The show was called The Fantastic Voyage Program, and the DJ was a brother by the name of Ron Nelson.
00:50My name was Melody MC back in the day, so just to hear him say, yo, that's Melody MC, he's 15, damn, he's good, that gave me a little more confidence.
01:00Maestro was ridiculed by a lot of us guys who thought that we knew what rap was going on at the time, and then all of a sudden, almost out of nowhere, it was like the best kept secret, Let Your Backbone Slide came out.
01:13This jam is amplified, so just glide, and let your backbone slide.
01:19I learned that we're epic from what I did with hip-hop.
01:27One of the things I want to do is to say something that resonates through generations.
01:35That just means you stick to one thing that you're doing in the 80s, and we leave it like that.
01:39Within those parameters, you expand out of that, more ideas can come, you know, tapping into what I've done in the past, and see how I can expand on that, and continue going forth and forth.
01:49When I say don't make records, make history, what I simply mean is do something that will resonate through generations.
02:07It's a ripple effect, you see what I'm saying?
02:10I'm doing something that might inspire someone else to do something else.
02:17I don't want to just inspire people within the parameters of music.
02:19I want to go beyond that, because we're here to do great things regardless.
02:25My scholarship that I established, I'm very proud of that.
02:27Hopefully, that will inspire another doctor.
02:29Hopefully, that will inspire another athlete to say, you know what?
02:31This is the specific field that I'm in, but it doesn't mean that we can't inspire youth to do different things as well.
02:47I love it, man. We're thriving over here.
02:48The mayor made me an ambassador of the city.
02:51You know, I've done a lot of volunteer work.
02:55There's always been moments that show that I must be doing something right.
02:58You made a gladiator out of me.
03:00You're all the reason why I stayed motivated.
03:02While my team flag stays elevated.
03:04And I think I'm being rewarded right now because anyone can make a record.
03:08But by making histories, when you do something, you say something.
03:11That people remember you years and years and years later.
03:13And say, like, you definitely made a positive impact.
03:28I've noticed that you weren't going to do something on a regular basis.
03:29But I want to make a difference in the past.
03:30I don't think there's acla.
03:31I don't think there's a whole lot to do.
03:32You don't think there are many people in the past.
03:33And you're a tourist, where you get a famous spot.
03:34And I'll be getting a few lots of people in the past.
03:35You don't think you were able to get a guy, but you believe I don't know what you were doing.
03:36I'm the only one way to do anything in the past.
03:37I'm also wondering what you're doing.
03:38You're very happy to do it.
03:40That person has a great story to me.
03:41I wanted to know this.
03:42And I wanted to know the idea that I can't do something I have been doing now.
03:43Not really.
03:44I don't think there's any answers.
03:45You
