00:00On the 19th of June 2018, I went into hospital.
00:12The doctor said, Luke, you have cancer, but this isn't one of the ones that's cured.
00:18You're looking at months if you're lucky.
00:22Basically he told me, you're going to die.
00:25Which is devastating, utterly devastating.
00:32On the day that I was diagnosed, I had this tiny little thought in my head, if I somehow
00:39get through treatment, I want to cycle around the world.
00:43I set out to live my dream, cycling from Bristol to Beijing on a tandem, joined by other canned
00:49livers.
00:50I wanted to go along the ancient Silk Road and in some ways travel through time.
00:58I had a phone call from home.
01:01I remember saying, that can't be true because my other son's got cancer.
01:05That was when her family fell apart.
01:09I knew I had to survive.
01:20My mum and I have never had an easy relationship.
01:22We don't do hugs very well, we don't do physical contact that well.
01:31When I was diagnosed with stage four cancer, that made me realize I had to do my dream right
01:37now.
01:40It's not necessary that you need training to cycle across the nation.
01:45The most important thing that you have in your body is a mind.
01:57Nobody knows where's the finish line.
01:59Nobody knows.
