Transcript
00:00hi so we're talking today about release about releasing the golf club what is releasing the
00:08golf club and how can i get into the positions that we see these tour players deliver day in
00:14day out on the tv so i try and understand is what is release for me it's this understanding of
00:20i'm trying to generate as much power as i can in my body throughout my swing and i'm trying to
00:26release it at the correct point to ensure that power goes through my body through the club
00:31and into the ball giving a good release pattern is actually what i see daily on it on it in the
00:39teaching room is actually when i get to the top here players actually start to release either too
00:43early they have this casting kind of effect or they actually get to the get to impact bodies frozen it
00:50hasn't moved and actually the club kind of breaks down you get this scooping kind of effect
00:55or you get this kind of chicken wing what we like to see is actually i like to see if i was to
01:01imagine there's a t or put a t just down in front here i want that club to be just past the ball
01:07pointing at that t i like to think of that club head the furthest point away from my body at this
01:13position i like to have my chest open my hips open and everything's pointing at that t so a lovely
01:20little drill you can do bear in mind i just said it's about body rotation as well to allow that
01:25release to kind of happen naturally is to let's set the body in a good position first so a lovely
01:31lovely little drill that you can do is set up and actually i'm going to put you in impact position
01:36so i want your hips to be rotated your chest to be rotated and i like your hands to be ahead of the
01:43golf ball so it's your hands are in front of the golf ball in this position what i want you to do
01:48in this drill is actually take the club back so the lead arm is parallel and i want you to feel
01:53that the lower body is going to turn it's going to pull you back to that impact position and just
01:59pass once we hit a good checkpoint is my arms are together and that club is pointing at that t
02:04so if we can put it all together hopefully the shot looks like this
02:09so
02:13you
