00:00I wouldn't take anyone in to prison to do this kind of work because it's not
00:09really something that anyone can do dancing in prison it's not a masculine
00:17thing I've been incarcerated going on 14 years I had a sentence of 39 years of
00:22life in the area we grew up in it was plagued by violence
00:28oh you're going to that dance class it's like yeah I'm gonna go bust my move we're
00:34not afraid of what other people think about it all that tough guy mentality you
00:39shut that off and it just ain't about dance it's a brotherhood I started to
00:47question myself why do I want to work in this environment the end of the second
00:51session I was like guys why wouldn't we make a show I made a promise to myself
00:57that this time was going to be different I was going to do things that were new
01:01to me that can teach me I was going to do things that would change
01:06and then in our program there are these assets that can come out and repair and
01:11heal the community
01:14I feel free I feel happy again I feel like a human
01:21quality that has been created for the people who need to keep her connected to see this
