00:00Victoria, I thought you were in Chicago.
00:19Uh, yeah, I've been back and forth.
00:23Well, I mean, how's Cole doing?
00:25I haven't heard any updates to see you finally out of the woods.
00:28I wish that were the case.
00:30Oh, well, that doesn't sound good.
00:34Well, there's been really little to no change.
00:39Oh, I'm sorry to hear that.
00:43Thank you. He's been diagnosed with Legionnaire's disease.
00:48That's, um, that's a type of pneumonia?
00:52It's a serious kind.
00:54But it's treatable?
00:55Yeah, it is, but so far, Cole hasn't responded to any of the antibiotics.
01:03Well, Dad mentioned that you guys were taking him to Chicago so he could get the best doctor?
01:08Yes.
01:09So he is in the best medical facility, he's getting the best care?
01:14Actually, he's back at Memorial now.
01:17Oh.
01:19Is he?
01:19Yes.
01:20Well, you know, the doctors in Chicago didn't think that there was much more that they could do for him, so we just decided to move him back here.
01:27Well, then they think he's stable.
01:35And I'm sure it must help being back home.
01:37I'm sure that was a bit tricky being away from Johnny and Katie.
01:40Yes.
01:41Feeling like I needed to be in two places at once has been very stressful, indeed.
01:46Well, one less thing to worry about.
01:47Yeah, I just, I wish I could get rid of this knot in the pit of my stomach.
01:54Well, I will be taking good thoughts for Cole and for you also.
02:00Thank you, Adam.
02:04We will take all of the good thoughts that we can get.
02:09I don't suppose you've heard from our father or from Nick at all, have you?
02:13No.
02:15And I have to admit it's, uh, it's a little unsettling.
02:19For once, I have to agree with you.
02:30Devon.
02:40Amanda.
02:42So, what's a guy like you doing in a maze like this at this hour?
02:46What's a guy like you doing there?
03:03What's a guy like?
03:04What's a guy like you doing in a maze like this?
03:09You know exactly what the hell I'm doing here.
03:31And more than anybody except for maybe Kane, you probably know why I'm here.
03:36Okay. I don't know why you're being so serious. I'm not implying anything.
03:42Oh, because reciting pick-up lines from old movies is your idea of being funny, given our history?
03:51I know that you and Abby are deliriously happy, and I would never do anything to interfere with that.
03:57That's good to know.
04:00So, it is late.
04:03Yeah, it is late. I couldn't sleep.
04:05Where's Abby?
04:06She crashed as soon as her head hit the pillow.
04:12Well, I hope your accommodations are satisfactory.
04:16You know they are.
04:19Well, if there's anything that we can do to make you more comfortable, you let me know.
04:24Well, I don't need fluffier pillows or more towels in the bathroom. What I could really use are some answers, though.
04:36And you think I have them?
04:39I know you have them, Amanda.
04:43Where's your boss at?
04:46I don't know. I think he's turned in for the evening.
04:49Has he really? Okay.
04:50Well, then, how about you come clean and tell me what this whole trip is all about?
04:55Kane, when did you get back in town?
05:02I just, uh...
05:04Just here for a quick trip.
05:06Very last minute.
05:07It's been a long time.
05:10Yeah, it has.
05:10What have you been up to since you left Genoa City?
05:16You know, lost myself for a little bit.
05:20Back on track.
05:22Now I'm ready to take over the world.
05:23Would you like to sit down?
05:31Oh, thank you.
05:35I have to say, I find it hard to believe that our father hasn't checked in.
05:39See how things are going at Newman.
05:42I reached out to Abby.
05:44Tried to reach out to Sharon, too.
05:46Yeah?
05:47Nothing?
05:49No.
05:50Claire hasn't heard from Kyle, either.
05:53Which is very unusual.
05:55But if something bad happened, I'm sure we would have heard about it by now.
06:00Right?
06:01Yeah, if there was an accident or something disastrous happened, we definitely would have heard about it.
06:07Be all over the news.
06:09So they're probably just in a remote area with poor cell service.
06:13That's what I assume, too.
06:15Where Chelsea floated the idea that maybe Dumas had confiscated their phone,
06:19so there was no photos of information they got out about him.
06:24Well, considering how secretive the man is, that could make sense.
06:29Yeah.
06:30Still, I...
06:30It's unnerving.
06:32I don't see our father just giving up his phone.
06:34Oh, no.
06:35Not to anyone.
06:36Under any circumstances.
06:39Least of all, someone like Aristotle Dumas.
06:41I don't like it.
06:44Yeah, knowing him, he would have found a way to get in touch, if he could.
06:51Do you think that we have anything to worry about?
06:53I'm sure they're all fine.
06:59You know, but I do have to wonder,
07:01what could possibly be preventing Dumas' entire guest list from making contact with the outside world?
07:07Why are you asking me?
07:11I thought Cain made his intentions perfectly clear.
07:15He was taking off his mask, revealing his true identity, so he can return to General City.
07:20I think he wants to make it his home base.
07:23What more is there to say?
07:27The truth would be great, because that's way too easy of an excuse.
07:32Why didn't he just show up to town and tell everybody that he's Aristotle Dumas?
07:38And I expect everyone to believe him.
07:40He thinks that all of this is going to help people believe him?
07:44Flying us all out here, having us walk through mazes,
07:48and distracting us with drinks and food and vague itineraries?
07:52I don't see the distraction.
07:55I think it looks more like a free vacation in paradise, don't you?
07:59A free vacation in paradise.
08:01If that's what it is, if that's all it is,
08:04then why isn't he around,
08:06building up the relationships with the people he invited here?
08:09He doesn't even show up to the dinners that he hosts.
08:12And I know it's not because he's too busy conducting business,
08:14because supposedly we're off the grid and cut off from all communications.
08:19I can't even send an email.
08:20Well, I am sorry about that.
08:22That was a very unfortunate and unexpected technical glitch.
08:26What kind of billionaire doesn't have his own personal,
08:29working communication system?
08:32Huh?
08:32I am sorry to break it to you, Devon,
08:34but even billionaires can't control the weather.
08:37That was a very powerful storm we had.
08:39It was a very powerful storm.
08:40So powerful that supposedly it washed out all the roads,
08:43going down the mountain, and trapped us here, right?
08:44Because you know that we all didn't have cell service when we arrived,
08:49and that was way before the storm.
08:50There is that word again, supposedly.
08:53Yeah, I'm saying it a lot,
08:54because I don't know who or what to believe.
08:57It feels like we're all being manipulated,
09:00and even worse, being lied to.
09:02So, tell me,
09:07where have you been all these years?
09:10What's life after Genoa City like?
09:13Uh,
09:14you know, I've been busy.
09:16Yeah?
09:17Well, what brought you back to town?
09:20Are you here to see Lily?
09:22No, I still think of this place as home.
09:24And yet you've stayed away.
09:26You know, I heard you and Adam were back together.
09:30I suppose that was inevitable.
09:32Yeah, we were back together.
09:33We're better than ever.
09:35But I'm happy for you.
09:37You deserve that.
09:38I'm hoping he's not the same old Adam that he used to be.
09:42Hopefully he's changed.
09:43You can't possibly have wanted to reunite with that bad seed.
09:45Well, um, Adam has been through a lot.
09:48Lately.
09:48We both have.
09:50He's faced some challenges,
09:51and now, um, he's a changed man.
09:55Your son?
09:56He must be a teenager.
09:58Oh, he's growing like a weed.
10:00It's crazy.
10:02But what about you?
10:02And what about your kids?
10:04They're doing, they're doing fine.
10:05Yeah, thank you for asking.
10:07They're all grown up, out in the world.
10:11It's, it's hard to book time with them.
10:13Mm-hmm.
10:17You know, you didn't fool me earlier.
10:21What do you mean?
10:21It was clear you evaded my question when I asked about Lily.
10:24You're not here to see her?
10:28She's out of town at the moment.
10:30Meeting with Aristotle Dumas in France.
10:33You've heard of Aristotle Dumas?
10:35Oh, I know him very well.
10:37You've actually met the man?
10:46I have.
10:49Well, he's quite the mystery.
10:52Everyone in town is dying to know what he's like, why he's so private, why we haven't
10:58seen what he looks like, and more importantly, what he wants in Genoa City.
11:03Do you know?
11:04What have you heard?
11:06I've heard that he invited Lily and others, two niece.
11:11He invited all of Genoa City's power players on what he calls an extended vacation.
11:17Newman's, Abbott's, Winters.
11:19Interesting.
11:20Yeah.
11:21What's even more interesting is Lily and all of the guests have gone incommunicado.
11:25How did you know she was in France?
11:31Was she able to reach you?
11:32Because we haven't been able to reach anybody since they left.
11:35It's all very strange.
11:37I agree.
11:37Yeah, rather, um, mysterious.
11:42So, how well do you know the guy?
11:46What do you think?
11:48Should we all be worried?
11:48Take it easy, Devon.
11:54You're getting paranoid now.
11:56I'm getting paranoid.
11:58Please.
11:59Amanda, you know damn well there's more going on here than you or Cain are willing to admit.
12:03Okay, but a massive deception.
12:06Cain already revealed everything there is to know.
12:09Well, if that's a problem, if that's the truth, because he hasn't actually said anything
12:14that we need to know.
12:15He hasn't given anybody a real good explanation as to why he created the Dumas persona in the
12:21first place.
12:23Cain has never liked this before.
12:25What was he like?
12:26He wasn't secretive.
12:29He was no stranger to impersonating people, but, I mean, this...
12:33This is different?
12:35Yeah, it's different, because he's different.
12:38When he first showed up to Genoa City, he was convincing people.
12:42He was Philip Chancellor.
12:42And then when the truth came out about that, he put it all behind him, and he focused on
12:47building a life with Lily.
12:49Even when he faked being dead, it was to protect Lily and the twins.
12:52He always seemed to at least have a heart.
12:55Why don't you believe that he has one now?
12:58Because this whole setup, it reeks of something Colin would do.
13:02That's why.
13:03Colin is dead, Devon.
13:05Well, you know, maybe not before he reconciled with his son and planted the seeds for all
13:11of this.
13:13Hell, we only have Cain's word to go off of that Colin's even dead.
13:16You are really reaching now.
13:18Am I reaching?
13:19Yes.
13:19Okay, you tell me what this is really about, then.
13:21Is it Lily?
13:23Does that make sense?
13:24That after all these years, he'd go through all this trouble just to win her back?
13:27Because that seems like a big waste of money and everybody's time.
13:30He never said this was all about Lily.
13:32Okay.
13:34What is it?
13:35It's Chancellor.
13:37Right?
13:37He's trying to get Chancellor.
13:38But if that was the case, all we have to do is include Nikki and Victor.
13:43We don't have to fly everybody out here.
13:45None of this makes sense.
13:47But you know, maybe that's the point.
13:50What's the point?
13:51I'm almost afraid to ask.
13:53Maybe he wanted to get us all here so we would scramble around, trying to figure out
13:57what he's up to, when in reality, he's just, I don't know, distracting
14:02us so that he can put something completely different in the motion.
14:05You know, even if that was the case, and I knew all about it, why would I reveal any
14:14of that to you?
14:15Just because we haven't heard from Victor doesn't mean that he's not gathering information
14:23about Aristotle Dumas.
14:26You know, if I had to bet money, he's at least one step ahead of the guy.
14:31Not much, I'm sure of.
14:33What is it, Adam?
14:34What, what's going on with you?
14:36What's got you so concerned?
14:37You know something that I don't, so, what is it?
14:47I did learn something that I probably should share with you, especially since I can't reach
14:55anybody else in the family.
14:57Tell me.
14:58Arabesque.
15:01It's a company that Dumas owns, been on a mad spending spree, buying up real estate
15:06all over town.
15:08What kind of real estate?
15:10Office buildings near Newman Tower.
15:13And your bow.
15:15Residential properties around town, and on top of that, I just found out that it bought
15:20the athletic club.
15:21I didn't know that the athletic club was for sale.
15:25It wasn't.
15:27Not officially.
15:29So, it's just real estate.
15:33Not just.
15:36Arabesque just purchased Chancellor Divisions that Nikki sold off when she took over.
15:43What?
15:45Well, that is very concerning.
15:48What is this Dumas guy up to?
15:51I mean, what is this power play that he possibly has in place?
15:55I don't know.
15:56It doesn't have anything to do with inviting all of the major players of Genoa City to France?
16:01I don't know.
16:02But it seems pretty obvious he's planning to make some kind of major move in, and possibly
16:08to Genoa City.
16:10The big question is, how does this affect the rest of us in town?
16:15Sounds like anyone's guess to me.
16:21Yeah, I don't think you have anything to worry about from Dumas.
16:28But my friends and Connor's grandparents just might?
16:31Is that what you're implying?
16:32I wasn't implying anything.
16:34I mean, the weather hasn't been great in that part of France.
16:36Maybe that's contributing to the lack of communication.
16:40Yeah, it's quite possible.
16:43I mean, you seem to know this guy better than anybody, so what can you tell me about him?
16:47I mean, he's a mystery.
16:48The slightest bit of information would be helpful.
16:50Uh, you know, I would love to fill you in on what little bit I do know, but I actually
16:55have to go to the airport.
16:56You're leaving already?
16:57Didn't you just get back?
16:58Yeah, I'm sorry.
16:59I have to go.
16:59Um, I will tell you this.
17:03All of your questions about Dumas, it will be answered very soon.
17:08What does that mean?
17:09I have to run.
17:10Give Adam my best.
17:11I can, if you can just wait for two seconds.
17:13I'll be back in town in a few weeks.
17:14Maybe we can all get together.
17:16If you didn't come back for Lily, then why did you come back?
17:19Goodbye, Chelsea.
17:20It was nice running into you, okay?
17:22I'll see you soon.
17:23Bye.
17:23Bye.
17:23Bye.
17:23Bye.
17:23Bye.
17:23Bye.
17:23Bye.
17:25Bye.
17:27Bye.
17:27Bye.
17:27Bye.
17:27Bye.
17:27Bye.
17:27Bye.
17:29Okay, so you admit that Cain does have something up his sleeve.
17:33That's not what I said.
17:34I didn't admit anything.
17:36No, huh?
17:37No.
17:38I said, if there was another plan in motion, and if I knew about it, I am just surprised
17:44that you think for one second that I would confide in you, that I owe you any kind of loyalty.
17:51Well, you don't, but I kind of figured that we had reached some level of forgiveness between
18:01us.
18:01Maybe I'm wrong.
18:02But I will say that your hostility is making me a lot more suspicious.
18:09I can't watch you stand here and accuse me when you have no right to point the finger.
18:25Okay.
18:26Okay.
18:27Okay.
18:28This is coming up, though.
18:29Yeah.
18:30I bet it is.
18:31I'm sorry for accusing you.
18:36Okay?
18:37You don't have to confide in me, and you're absolutely right.
18:41You don't owe me anything.
18:42But you know what?
18:43Maybe it'd be a good idea for you to take a step back and take a real good look at yourself
18:48and what you're doing here.
18:51This coming from you.
18:53All I'm saying is that you're a smart, honorable person, and I think you're too smart to get
19:00led by some two-bit con artist down a dangerous path.
19:03Like, what if all of this blows up in your face?
19:06I can see why you're frustrated.
19:12Our father needs this information, and so far, there's no way to get it to him.
19:16That's definitely something he would want to know.
19:18And it's killing me that he's unreached while doing a crucial time like this.
19:23But I'll keep my eye on this until I can get a hold of him.
19:28You know, I think you should just focus on Cole right now and get him healthy.
19:35Thank you, Adam.
19:36That means a lot.
19:39Of course.
19:40Family first.
19:42Dad's motto.
19:43Yes.
19:45Well, you've really stepped up to help the family in a time when we're all in need.
19:50Well, I will report anything else I find as soon as I can.
19:54I can't tell you how much I...
19:57We appreciate you staying behind and looking after things.
20:02Am I hearing this right?
20:05Are you actually giving me, black sheep of the family, a compliment on a job well done?
20:12I have been known to give a compliment every now and then, when it's warranted.
20:19Honestly, you deserve it.
20:22After everything that you've done for Newman Media and the way that you've looked after the family company.
20:28I think that our father would be very pleased with you.
20:32Well, getting our father's praise, it's not an easy thing to do.
20:37Don't I know it.
20:40I just, um...
20:42I never imagined that Cole would be in this position.
20:46I can't tell you how hard it is seeing him weak in that hospital bed.
20:51I know.
20:52I'm sorry that you're going through this.
20:56Oh, Victoria.
21:00This is a surprise?
21:02Oh, yeah.
21:03I just actually stopped by to see if Adam had any more luck than I've had, trying to reach our family and niece.
21:10It's very strange that no one can be reached.
21:12How's Cole?
21:14I'll let Adam fill you in.
21:15There's really not much more to tell.
21:18Um, I gotta run.
21:20I'm meeting Claire.
21:21We're gonna head back to the hospital.
21:22Okay.
21:23Well, please tell him he's in our prayers.
21:25And Adam?
21:26If you, uh, hear anything, um, let me know.
21:31I'll do the same.
21:33I will.
21:34All right.
21:36Mm-hmm.
21:39Oh, so, I'm guessing still no word from Victor?
21:44Nothing.
21:46But Dumas continues to buy up everything in sight.
21:50His latest conquest.
21:52I found out that Arabesque bought the athletic club and the chancellor divisions,
21:56that Nicky sold off.
21:57What?
21:58Mm-hmm.
21:59That's huge.
22:01Well, uh, you're not the only one who has a surprise today.
22:04Yeah?
22:05You're never gonna believe who I just bumped into at Crimson Lights.
22:08Who?
22:09Kane Ashby.
22:10Kane Ashby.
22:13Now, that is a name that I have not heard in some time.
22:18What is he doing back in town?
22:20He wouldn't really tell me.
22:23I asked, but he wouldn't give me a straight answer.
22:25Well, what did he say?
22:27He wasn't clear.
22:28To be honest with you, the whole encounter was strange.
22:33Strange how?
22:36He just seemed different.
22:38Not like his old self.
22:40I know you're upset.
22:55We both are.
22:57But we have to stay strong for your father.
22:59Of course, I want to put on a brave face for him.
23:04But when it's just us, I can't pretend I'm not worried.
23:09I know.
23:10I can see what a toll this is taking on you.
23:13Why isn't he getting better?
23:17I don't know.
23:18I wish I knew.
23:20There has to be something more the doctors could be doing for him.
23:23Yeah, son.
23:29We've both been spending a lot of time in the hospital.
23:32And I know you're exhausted.
23:34I know you want to be there for your father.
23:36But I think maybe you should just go home tonight and get some rest.
23:40No.
23:41I can rest when Dad is out of the woods.
23:44He needs us right now.
23:45I know that, Claire.
23:46But this isn't helping you and my...
23:48No, Mom.
23:49Listen.
23:49No.
23:50I know that when Dad sees us both by his bedside,
23:54it gives him strength and the will to keep fighting.
23:57I know that.
23:58So it's okay.
23:59I'm okay.
24:02Okay.
24:04I just wish we knew why his body isn't responding to the antibiotics.
24:09I don't understand it.
24:11I don't.
24:11I mean, all I know is what the doctors told me about this type of pneumonia.
24:15Yeah, that it's particularly virulent and difficult to treat
24:18if it's not caught soon enough.
24:21Listen to me.
24:22Listen.
24:25We have to have faith, all right?
24:27We have to trust that these doctors know what they're doing.
24:30Yeah, that's what everyone keeps saying.
24:32Just trust the doctors.
24:34But the doctors are the ones that didn't catch it soon enough,
24:38and now it might be too late.
24:39How am I supposed to trust anything that the doctors say?
24:42I have to take this on.
24:50Hello?
24:52Yes, this is Victoria Newman.
24:56I see.
24:58No, we'll be there right away.
25:00What is it?
25:01Well, who's that?
25:01It's the hospital.
25:02We need to get to your father right away.
25:05Um, okay.
25:08Let's go.
25:09Well, we're so weird about it.
25:16Why didn't Gaines seem like himself?
25:19I can't really put my finger on it.
25:21He just seemed...
25:23off.
25:26Different.
25:27Different how?
25:29No, no, no.
25:29He just had a certain air about him
25:32I don't remember him having before.
25:34Well, I mean, that's not so unusual.
25:36Who knows what the guy's been up to since he's been in town.
25:38Yeah.
25:39And people can change, I suppose.
25:42I am a case in point, right?
25:44So, it's no surprise that he's not the same guy you remember.
25:47I mean, it's been years since he's been in town.
25:49Yeah, I guess so.
25:52I don't know.
25:54Something just seems weird, like little things.
25:58Like what?
25:59Well, like, I brought up Lily, obviously.
26:01I asked him if he was here to see her.
26:03He completely dodged the question.
26:05Asked it as if I never said her name.
26:06And then later on in the conversation, I brought it up again.
26:09And he tells me he knows Lily is out of the country visiting Aracela Dumas.
26:14Like, why not just tell me that in the first place?
26:17He also told me that he knows Dumas very well.
26:22Oh, that's interesting.
26:24Because the only thing I really know about Dumas is that nobody knows him.
26:27So, did Cain say how he knows him?
26:30Nope.
26:30He was suspiciously vague.
26:32And then he said something else that was odd.
26:35Well, when I pressed him for more information on the man,
26:37he said that any questions we have about Dumas will be answered very soon.
26:43Okay, now that is strange.
26:47Well, it sounds like he really does know the guy.
26:52But how well?
26:55And why would someone like Dumas know Cain?
27:01I'm sure that Cain has bigger targets than his crosshairs,
27:04but you do know that you could be collateral damage, right?
27:08Like, what if he's using it?
27:10Like, he's manipulating everybody else?
27:12You don't think I would see that coming?
27:14I mean, you didn't when you were working for Colin.
27:17When he was trying to take my inheritance and lied about the will being forged,
27:20you got wrapped up in all that.
27:21That was a long time ago, and I learned from my mistakes.
27:25Gosh, you really have no faith in me, do you?
27:28Amanda, it's not about that, all right?
27:31I'm just suggesting that you prepare to protect yourself.
27:36Because Cain is still Colin's son.
27:39He can still pull the rug out from under you.
27:41And that's when you're going to need some allies.
27:44And you are offering to be my ally.
27:49That's rich.
27:52I mean, I'm not your enemy.
27:55And I know I don't have any right to ask you to trust me after the way that I betrayed you.
27:59I'm just saying I'm here.
28:02And you might need some friends after you get kicked to the curb.
28:05You really think I'm going down, don't you?
28:07Well, the thing is, is you really don't think you're going down, and you don't know.
28:12But I would love for you to consider just how many people Cain could take advantage of here.
28:16Because I know you have friendships with a lot of your boss's guests,
28:20and every single one of them could get negatively affected by whatever he's trying to pull.
28:24You are really thinking the worst here.
28:27Are you really ready to betray everyone just so you can keep his secrets and do his bidding?
28:33Like, do you really not care what you're doing or who you hurt?
28:39I guess not.
28:40Hey.
28:54Hey.
28:55There you are.
28:57Where have you been? I missed you.
28:58I missed you, too.
29:00I couldn't sleep, so I got a drink.
29:03Mm-mm.
29:04That's not surprising.
29:06I need you to clear your head.
29:08This place is so weird.
29:11Yeah, to say the least.
29:14Starting to drive me crazy being stuck here.
29:18Not being able to call and check on Dom.
29:20He's really wondering where Mommy and Daddy are.
29:22No, you don't got to tell me.
29:24I hope he doesn't feel like we've abandoned him.
29:26I told him to call him every day and tell him goodnight.
29:31That's really starting to wake me up.
29:35It's just like we're in a prison with no bars.
29:39We can't escape.
29:40I just, I can't wrap my head around the fact that Cain is Dumas.
29:46It's surreal.
29:47And he has to be up to something, because why all the subterfuge?
29:51When Cain and Lily got remarried, it was Lily's maid of honor.
29:56And I always thought he was a nice enough guy.
29:59And when things fell apart between them, I stayed out of it.
30:03It's their business.
30:03I'm just glad she got rid of him and away from him when she did.
30:09Obviously, you know there's another side to him.
30:12And ever since he's revealed himself as Dumas, I mean, the secrecy and deception, the guy really has me creeped out.
30:20I know, believe me.
30:21That's why I'm trying to figure out what the hell he has going on.
30:28Well, have you talked to Cain directly?
30:31No, I haven't, because he's nowhere to be found.
30:35But that drink that I had was with Amanda.
30:40I just got back from talking to her.
30:41I don't think I like the sound of that.
30:52I received word from Mr. Ashby.
30:54He's on his way back.
30:56Thank God.
30:58It has been getting increasingly harder to answer these people's questions.
31:02I can imagine.
31:04They're not fools.
31:06They know something's up.
31:07I tried to get more information out of him, but he was not forthcoming.
31:13No real answers, and then suddenly he said he had a flight to catch.
31:18I'm still trying to understand the possible connection between Cain Ashby and Dumas.
31:23I mean, when Cain left town, it was like he fell off the face of the earth.
31:28I just did a quick search.
31:30There's no buzz at all.
31:31There's no news stories, not even a social media presence.
31:35So, I have no idea where the guy has been working.
31:38But you said Dumas only came on the scene a few years ago, right?
31:44Yes.
31:45Which begs the question, when, where, and how did Cain Ashby and Dumas ever meet?
31:51Especially given how protective and mysterious he is of his identity.
31:54Maybe they knew each other before Dumas was successful.
31:57Pop said it was about six years ago when Aristotle Dumas started to make his presence known.
32:03Started buying and selling real estate, he started amassing his fortune.
32:08And if my memory serves me right, Cain left town about six years ago.
32:12Yes, he supposedly went to track down his father, Colin.
32:16And that was after Colin tried to steal Devon's Chancellor inheritance.
32:22So, wait, so there has to be a big connection between Cain, Dumas, and Colin.
32:28I mean, we always assumed Aristotle Dumas was an alias.
32:32The guy could be anybody.
32:35I mean, what if Aristotle Dumas was Cain's father, Colin?
32:41And all of this, it was just a massive con.
32:44It was an elaborate scam.
32:46Maybe that's why Dumas is buying all this local real estate.
32:50The deeds are public record.
32:53Someone's funding the buys.
32:54If this is a scam, it's a massive payoff.
32:57Yeah, and days after the purchase, Cain shows up out of the blue,
33:02knowing Lovie isn't even in town.
33:04Yeah.
33:04For whatever reason, he would not discuss that with me.
33:06But he was happy to let me know he knows Dumas, and he knows him well.
33:09A man that it seems nobody has ever met in person.
33:15There's just too many unanswered questions.
33:18That make things weirder by the day.
33:27Who do I got?
33:28Dad.
33:34Colin.
33:34We have to be strong for him right now.
33:39He needs us to be, okay?
33:42Okay.
33:45Colin.
33:47We're right here with you right now.
33:49It's me, Claire.
33:51We're right here with you.
33:55We love you so much.
33:58Please.
34:01We need you.
34:02Please get better.
34:02Honey, I promise you that you have nothing to worry about.
34:10I was strictly on a fact-finding mission with Amanda.
34:14And did you find any facts?
34:17No.
34:18But I at least tried to plant some seeds of doubt
34:21about what she's gotten herself involved in
34:24and get her to seriously consider
34:26the longevity of what it looks like
34:30to hitch her cart to someone like Kane Ashby.
34:32Do you think it worked?
34:34I mean, I...
34:36Who knows if it worked?
34:39She didn't seem like she really cared about hearing
34:42about concerns from me,
34:46especially about her well-being.
34:47I can see that.
34:51I hope it did something, though.
34:53But I'll tell you what,
34:54I would really love to not talk about Amanda
34:57or Kane or Dumas
35:00or this whole living nightmare we're in.
35:03Well, what do you suggest we do instead?
35:08Well, you know,
35:10we are in the French Riviera.
35:13We're in a beautiful niece.
35:15And ever since we got here,
35:17we haven't spent one minute enjoying it
35:20or each other.
35:21Well, that's because we've been caught up
35:23in the Aristotle Dumas mystery tour 24-7.
35:27Yeah, that's right.
35:28And I think it's time for that tour to end
35:31and some fun to begin, don't you think?
35:34Well, what do you have in mind?
35:38Look at this.
35:51What is going on here?
35:59This information about Kane
36:01has my mind racing.
36:06I mean, the timing of Kane showing up
36:08and he drops his connection to Dumas,
36:09I mean, that's not a coincidence.
36:11I know.
36:12Trying to figure this out is driving me crazy.
36:15I just wish we could get a hold of my dad
36:17or Nick and tell them what's going on.
36:20They need to know about these acquisitions,
36:22especially the Chancellor one.
36:23Yeah.
36:23Your dad is not going to be happy
36:25when he hears this news.
36:26No.
36:27He's just going to play into his suspicions
36:28that Dumas is going after Chancellor.
36:31And the two of them,
36:32they're together right now.
36:34What would Victor do
36:35if he had this information?
36:37He would use it.
36:39No doubt.
36:41I mean, there has to be some way.
36:43Adam, I mean, what can we do?
36:46No one's returning our calls.
36:47I'm flying to Nice.
36:52Tonight.
36:53Okay?
36:53If I can't contact Dad,
36:55I'm going to track him down myself
36:56and I'm going to tell him in person.
37:02Thank you for the update, Carter.
37:04I'm relieved that Kane is on his way back,
37:05but I have to admit,
37:07I thought he had more to accomplish on this trip.
37:10Mr. Ashby took care of what he needed to do.
37:13Okay.
37:13Okay.
37:43You made it back
38:03in time.
