00:00In 2002, on my way to the Jeremy Vine Radio 2 show,
00:05because I was trying to work this out,
00:06I came up with a mnemonic that has now gone everywhere
00:09and I've been using it 20 years and it works well.
00:11Be a sad fart, everybody.
00:13Here we go.
00:15So...
00:15It's catchy, isn't it?
00:16It is, yeah.
00:16Very catchy.
00:17An item must be of satisfactory quality,
00:21as described, yes, you're sad,
00:23fit for purpose, I cheated on the next bit,
00:25and last a reasonable length of time.
00:29If not, it's faulty.
00:31So anything you buy must be of satisfactory quality,
00:33makes total sense, must be what's described.
00:35So, for example, if it says it will work for an iPhone,
00:37the speaker, and then you get it home and it only works for Android,
00:39they say, oh, it only works for Android,
00:41and it said it worked for an iPhone, it wasn't as described,
00:43so it's faulty, right?
00:44It's that type of thing, fit for purpose
00:45and last a reasonable length of time.
00:47You can see the difficult one here, can't you?
00:48Yes.
00:48A reasonable length of time.
00:49So what defines a reasonable amount of time?
00:52What a reasonable person says is reasonable.
