Indian Railways Tatkal Rules: Starting July 1, 2025, Indian Railways will require Aadhaar authentication for all Tatkal ticket bookings online. From July 15, an Aadhaar-based OTP will be mandatory for booking Tatkal tickets both online and at ticket counters. This move aims to prevent fraud and speed up bookings, as the passenger reservation system is being upgraded to handle 1.5 lakh tickets per minute, a huge jump from the previous 32,000 tickets per minute. Minor fare hikes have also been introduced, but low-class travelers won’t be significantly affected.
00:00I'm GFA Jafar Ali, I'm member of the Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee for Southern Railway.
00:07Sir, Government of India, Ministry of Railways has announced very good things for its passengers.
00:14The important thing that has been implemented from today,
00:21Aadhaar linked should be merged with the Tathkaal scheme.
00:28The Aadhaar should be linked with the Tathkaal from today, that is 1st July.
00:37And it is very important, the thing is, from 15th of July, if you book the tickets through Tathkaal,
00:50the OTP will come to your mobile, which is connected with the Aadhaar.
00:56So from that you can book your ticket easily.
00:58It was an issue previously that agencies that used to book the tickets and you cannot get some sort of confirmations.
01:09So based on these allegations, Ministry of Railways has introduced a very good scheme for its passengers that Aadhaar should be linked with the Tathkaal scheme.
01:20So that while booking through Tathkaal, you will get an OTP.
01:24From that OTP, you will get a confirmation ticket.
01:28And moreover, the second thing is, when you get the confirmation, you get the confirmation only by 4 hours of your time of journey.
01:39Now, Southern Government of India, Ministry of Railways, the Railway Board has recommended to the Ministry of Railways that 4 hours is increased by 8 hours.
01:53By your, you are going to some, your destination by 2 p.m. in the noon.
02:00So before one day, by 9 p.m. in the night, you get the confirmation.
02:06So it's a very basic news and you can plan your journey 8 hours before.
02:14Whether it is confirmed, is it not confirmed, you can plan journey 8 hours before.
02:20I think this is a historic announcement by the Indian Railways.
02:24As a member of ZRUCC, I want to thank Ashni Vaishoji, Minister for Railways and the Railway Board.
02:35And, sir, the important thing, one more important thing to the passengers is,
02:41Government of India, Ministry of Railways, has upgraded the passengers reservation system.
02:47What is the passenger reservation system?
02:50So per minute, per minute, 32,000 tickets used to be booked all over the country.
02:59Now they are upgrading the system in per minute.
03:03In future, I think within some months, it is going to be implemented.
03:07So per minute, 1.5 lakhs tickets will be booked.
03:12So website and all things to the railway, they are, in 5G, 6G speed, we can say, they are generating it.
03:23So per minute, 1.5 tickets throughout the country can be booked.
03:28I think that is quite a historic thing.
03:30And as far as the rate is concerned, the cost of insulin, we didn't think so, this much increased.
03:43In 2014, it was increased, 2020, and now it has been increased.
03:47And the thing is, AC, AC coaches, 1 km, railway ministry have increased, only 2 paisa.
03:571 km, 2 paisa for AC coaches.
04:00And non-AC, mails and express, 1 km, 1 paisa.
04:05I don't think so, that will more affect the low class passengers, who travel in non-AC or any.
04:17And second class, as far as second class is concerned, 500 km, there is no extra cost.
04:24Only 501, half paisa per kilometer.
04:30Only half paisa per kilometer.
04:34And as far as suburban trains are concerned, rates have not been increased.
04:40So this is the historic thing by the Indian railway.
04:43It is quite welcomeable.
04:45As far as, I am the member of Zonal Railways, which was consulted to committee.
04:50I welcome it.
04:51And I thank Government of India, Ministry of Railways, Minister for Railways, Ashneemeshnoji, for this initiative, sir.
