SARA fundraiser at St Mary's Church in Monmouth
Transcript
00:00Hi, I'm here today at St Mary's Church in Monmouth to watch people showing their
00:05support by abseiling down facing St Mary's Church for the Severn Area Rescue
00:09Association. I've spoken to people here today and heard their views and why it's
00:13so important to raise money for this charity.
00:15My name is Rosalyn and I've organized this event here today in aid of Sara River Rescue
00:21and that's because Sara came and rescued me from my house in November when it
00:26flooded. My reaction was I'll do it as well.
00:29I just wanted to do this today to support the community. I get a chance to do
00:33something fun and get to raise some money.
00:36I'm Wendy Harris. I've just abseiled down the tower in St Mary's Church
00:41and I did it for Sara. The worst part was actually climbing up the inside of the
00:47tower. It was climbing over the edge and bouncing down the church tower was
00:51fantastic. Obviously it's quite a scary thing
00:54abseiling off the top of the church. It's giving people who were like quite
00:57nervous to do it and once they come off the top and actually
01:00achieve what they've set out to do it's just really nice feeling.
01:03So I'm Bob Hanley. I'm the treasurer of Rotary Monmouth
01:07and we're great to be able to support Sara here. They're a fantastic organisation.
01:12I think it's good that people face their fears.
01:14I think it's a good thing to challenge yourself every now and then.
01:16Anyone can do it. Like Susan Jeff has said, feel the fear and do it anyway
01:21because once you've done it the exhilaration is just remarkable.
