00:00A lot of people actually think I'll take the snakes away and kill them.
00:04I don't know what the point would be in risking my life catching it and then killing them.
00:08I release all the snakes that I rescue back into the wild.
00:15At the moment, I'm working on a project with my friend Cormac Price,
00:19who's a researcher from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
00:22But before he does that, he microchips them.
00:25We are collecting data on mambas in the city.
00:28Ireland's diversity is nothing. We have no snakes, we have one lizard,
00:33we have one newt, one toad and one frog.
00:36As much as I love home and I love Ireland, my career wasn't there.
00:39So after about six or seven months of living here, I was introduced to Nick in Durban
00:43and it was where I got to handle my first Black Mamba and help with a release.
00:47Black Mamba comes with such a massive reputation.
00:51It was phenomenal. It was a real privilege.
00:54It never gets boring, put it that way.
00:56Any time you see one, you're kind of in awe of that creature.
